SMOD REDUX version 8 is another epic hl2 mod. Adds more weapons, gore, maps, enemies, friendly combine, bullettime, increased graphics, and supports any hl2 skin, so getting fakefactory models on the internet will be able to be applied to smod. Unfortunately it doesnt support hdr, so on an hdr map, lighting will be messed up, so use mat_fullbright 1 on hdr maps

Everything is great except for the characters they just don't look Half life at all except for the combine

You don't need to install the character mods, and you can leave the characters alone, as I do. Other than that, the new textures, lighting, and HDR maps are all great additions that make the game visually better. Ravenholm and Nova Prospect look amazing with Cinematic Mod 9.5.

And as far as the soundtrack, you can keep the original sound files if you dont like the new ones that much. The new soundtrack gives it a movie feel, dont see why they seem so bad to people.

the gman looks like he hasnt had to shave in years, the lips on civilians are humungus and their foreheads are super shiny, but the combine and prop model textures look nice.

This mod does it right with Alyx's model though, the latest update makes her look more like she does normally in HL2 rather than a sex object.

After seeing both V7 and V8 trailers, I think... it's different. The graphical touches are easily much better.

That said, the faces... the closest comparison to my reaction is having watched Terminator 2 with Arnold as the star Terminator, then suddenly seeing the same movie with Sylvester Stalone as that same character! (No, such a movie does NOT exist - see Last Action Hero for concept) That explains most people's reactions to this part of the mod.

I like the altered textures, but for some reason when the characters are talking, the textures make their facial movements seem funny, espectially the G-Man. Either that, or the sound in the video is delayed.

Would there be any way to install this mod without the modified Alyx model? This may seem a strange request, but I liked Alyx as just some athletic chick, not some freakin' sex goddess. Which isn't a bad thing, just doesn't fit with the whole Half Life mood in my humble opinion.

I ran it, some things are quite nice, and obviously it beats HL2 graphically... But its really not worth 8GB, and it was crashing now and then as i suspect because of my 32 bit windows...

I think alex is a bit overdone

Yeah i saw a good price on a PC so i bought it keeping budget in mind and added a few things to it, i really wanna just be able to run all the games that are coming out so im gonna spend alot on a new SLI motherboard and some new graphic cards

Whenever I play this mod, the peoples skin doesn't cover their entire bodies. Lie when they move their heads up, theres a hole in their necks and sometimes it doesn't wrap completely around their heads so their is a huge slot on the back of their heads. Also, the game crashes if it has to load a new area (when you move to a new area and it says loading) when I have my Texture detail on high (I have to play the game on Medium texture detail, which sucks). If anybody could help, it'd be awesome.

after making this video, i was able to get 4GB ram and had x64 installed, and then apply the mod, it ran flawlessly, b4 when i was using 32bit vista i had same issue as u mentioned

hum, lets recap other requirements, it says that it require all 3 HL2 game fully installed, and need to have all previrous mods removed completely,

I don't use steam and I don't have EP1 or EP2. All I did was install it to some random place on my hard drive then copy all of the models and materials from the install directory into my install of HL2. That way I get all of the HD textures and characters without Steam or EP1 or EP2, but I doubt that doing that would have caused the problems since you had them before. And the reason i don't have steam is cause...let's just say i don't own HL2, but I still have it.

- Fully installed STEAM Client; You can't start the mod without STEAM running.

- Fully installed and unlocked HL2 / EP1 / EP2; Make sure, you have started those games in the past.

Half Life 2 can be played even on 512 MB Ram, only Episodes must have minimal 512 MB and recommended 1 GB of Ram :) Awsome requirenments :) Love Half life 2!!! I think Half Life 3 will be on minimal 3 GB Ram XD So we'll see...

this mod isn't an official addon, so HL3 i'm sure valve will not make it 3gb ram lol, games that pwns usually have a lower requirement so everyone can play,

hehe i just think about that requirenments for Crysis. I know that Valve Developers made Half Life to play on every computer, then Half Life 2 on some normal computer and episodes better but still you can play it if you turn down some special effects such as bloom...

I'm playing episode 1 and 2 on maximal details without some problems... So yeah you'r right :)

Well not in a whole at all, I can see why you prefer Mass Effect's facial expressions, the only character that is excellently rigged in Crysis is Prophet (he's the only perfect one). Still the graphics in Crysis are far superior both visually and technical-wise. The characters look more realistic.

Yeah Mass Effect looks really good, the lens flare, some levels (inconsistent though) are quite impressive but no game will probably look better Crysis before a while. Not even Far Cry 2.

Did it crash after you jump out of window and open the door? That is the only place where it has crashed on my PC and i think it's because of 32bit system, not ram (if somebody runs it with 1GB ram, then 2GB should do just fine...)
