A quote I found quite true if you include the sarcasm. I was in the grocery store the other day and I was talking to a friend about my enlistment of Naval Spec-Ops with a fallback of HM or Nuclear (top 1% on ASVAB). Some lady came up to me and started talking to me about her cousin who is a Navy SEAL, and then a younger gentleman came up to me and said his cousin also tried out for it but got out for medical. Yeah....Everyone knows a SEAL right ;)

@punchbagJonny have you seen videos of special forces training of the US? or any other country. I promise you US Navy SEALs or British SAS and Spetsnaz have not played silly games during their training.

@leeshizzle429 I'm American and I have trained with a few SEALs (one of whom retired from team 6) and I have been considering enlisting. I have also read books written by SEALs. Training is almost all day every day for over 2 years. They do random things to goof around just to break up the monotony. It's rare, but they do it. Even at the end of hell week when they're done with everything they have to do and they still have to stay awake to the end, they'll goof around so they don't fall asleep.

@leeshizzle429 call it want you want. you obviously have never met a SEAL. anyone who is ex-team six can say so if they choose to (which is rare). ever heard of Dick Marcinko? their identity is only concealed while part of the team. I have seen one other of ex-team 6 guy who was in a SEAL Team 6 documentary on the OBL raid with Marcinko (you can probably find it on youtube). but if you really want to know what happens in training, ask a SEAL instead of watching videos that show hardly anything.

@punchbagJonny You are right videos like surviving the cut show barely anything. I know who he is, how long until they released info that he was in SEAL team 6 is the question. There's no use for me to argue though, you might be right, I'm just saying I highly doubt SEALs play games as training

@leeshizzle429 yeah, I don't expect you to believe anything I say since you don't know me. and I will say it's extremely rare that they do anything that isn't training oriented (but there are some very few times they do, I think probably more for mental health maybe). I know some guys have played soccer at the end of hell week since all they had left to do was stay awake. But it's definitely less than 1% of the time that they do things like that.

@leeshizzle429 oh, and the ex-team six guy I did some training with, he's still in the teams (on team 2 now, last I heard). that's the only reason I believe him, and because all those he works with have confirmed it. but he's more of a mentor than a friend really (the dude's almost 40)

@punchbagJonny I am not calling you a liar, I just have a hard time believing you know anyone who is a SEAL, and if you do, I highly doubt they'd tell you their team, and I have an extreme doubt that they'd let you know they're "team 6" especially since now I believe they don't go by that (especially being USA's "secret team".) However, I cannot prove nor disprove your statement so I say cheers is you know them, shame if you don't. =)

@IndomitusLupus Yeah the official name is now classified (they don't even go by DEVGRU anymore), but "team six" is still used as a nick name, for that very reason. If you want to meet a SEAL, all you have to do is enter the DEP program with an SO contract (that's a SEAL contract). Then you'll be given a SEAL mentor to prepare you for training. I met this guy on a Navy base, with a couple other SEALs, and like I said, he was FORMER "team six", so it was no longer classified information.

@punchbagJonny I actually am signing into the Navy DEP program! Now you have to sign on as something else with a conditional SO I hear because of the drop out rate. HM with a condition SO =)
