I can't say bye to yesterday... I can't... my self image is shattered if I find out that I have to take a knee surgery at the end of this month. In that case I will go to the river and shoot my self in the head.
either I train hard and look good and die doing it, or just die... I don't want to live ordinary life with mediocre physical condition.
Vanessa Atler is my all time favorite. Too bad she missed the quad where you can specialize... she would have killed floor, vault and beam EVERY TIME. Damn bars *waves fist* !
I agree with (greysrocks25) an elite gymnast works so hard to make the olympics and when and if they dont that dream is broken such as hollie vise and vanessa alter i mean dont get me wrong they were amazing gymnast hollie's actually one of my favorites . Andreea raducan's story was kind of sad she was sick and took advil and sudafed theres a drug in sudafed that was banned and when she she failed the drug test she was striped of her gold .
I really don't understand this. I mean, it was a great montage, but the title is "When Dreams Fall Apart". There wasn't as many mistakes in it as I thought. What's the story?
@1ShawnJohnson1 You have to know their individual stories to understand. Atler & Vise were both front runners for the 2000 & 2004 Olympics - their dreams were cut short by inconsistency & falls. Raducan got her gold medal taken from her because she took a cold pill... this montage isn't focusing on their mistakes - just the aftermath of them...
@AshleyakaFlipper wow! a cold pill, did she know it had that substance? if not that is completely not fair, and would give unnessecary judgement on her!
that must be really devastating to have that happen! i coach demo, and they made i minor mistake and anothe rdemo coach made them stop (they still got to do it) but they where all in tears.
@AshleyakaFlipper I believe Raducan should have that gold medal. Certainly after it was unbanned a few years later. The romanian team, and the US team, are probably the most inspiring. The fact that the other 2 romanians would not accept the other medals, that show great dedication to team. It also shows how close teammates are. Most people who dont know the sport think that after the Olympics they just stop talking to eachother. Which isnt true. All your montages capture the sport wonderfully
@TayTayandZoee the saddest part about that story is that amanar (who placed second behind raducan) was also given the same dose of sudafed, but because she had a larger body mass she did not test positive. because raducan was so small the ratio of the drug to her weight was higher and therefore detected. it really is a shame. if anything psudophedrin hinders your ability, not helps.
@itsbeccaforreals Exactly. I don't get it, did they even try giving her medal back(officially) after they unbanned the substance? I know it was later added back but still, they took it off, she got her medal taken away for it, so why, when it was taken off, didnt they attempt to give the medal back? Oh well, I can't wait for her book to come out in english. My mom wont let me read it in romanian..dunno why.
@TayTayandZoee She petitioned to get back but they rejected it. Simona Amanar gave Andreaa the medal she was given though and a Romanian jeweller gave her a medal made of solid gold, she also got double the prize money from a group of bankers. I know it doesn't make up for an Olympic gold but it's some consolation in a small way.
@AshleyakaFlipper I've always thought that if Atler had been born in the next quad there would be no doubt she'd have made the 04 team, specialists were appreciated more than they were in 2000, she wouldn't have even had to do bars. Really too bad, she was soooo crazy talented.
I still can't believe Raducan lost her AA gold over a Sudafed. And from what I understand, the IOC no longer banned the substance as of 2004. Fortunately, Simona Amanar is a good and kind person who values friendship, morality, and sportsmanship - she gave the gold medal back to its rightful owner.
this is a great video. i m on the arlington aerials gymnastix team... so i <3 gymnastix. but good music with the video :) but its sorta sad but tht kk
She was going to the court of arbratation (i dont no how to spell it) to make an appeal about being stripped of her gold medal at the 2000 olympic gamess
It's called "when dreams fall apart" which refers to the fact that they couldn't achieve their dreams, as gymnasts. Holly Vise didn't make the Olympic team in 2004 and Vanessa Atler didn't make the 2000 olympic team...Andreea Raducan's story is legendary so no need to explain it...That being said...She will ALWAYS be the TRUE Sydney 2000 Olympic All-Around Champion. The records mean NOTHING!!!
She won the AA gold in Sydney but was disqualified a week later when she tested possitive for pseudophedrine which was in the nurofen she had been given by a doctor and the gold was given to her teammate Amanar, Amanar gave the medal back to Raducan when they got back to Romania bucause everyone knew Raducan was the rightful winner. A few years after pseudophedrine was taken off the banned substance as it doesnt help athletes in any way list so she was disqualified for nothing!!!
LOL- Hollie Vise is a World Champion in team and UB, Vanessa Atler National Champion and Goodwill Games Gold Medalist on Floor and Vault, and Andrea Raducan Multiple medalist at Worlds and Olympics - Why is this video called "When Dreams Fall Apart?" All these girls have achieved great things.
yeah that's true. they all had extremely successful careers. but the never did reach their ultimate goal ; the olympics. so they were living their dream and accomplishing amazing things, but their dreams did fall apart in the end. Hollie had a back injury, and neither vanessa or hollie made the olympic team, and andreea got her gold medal taken away from her. i wouldn't call those fairytale endings.
@AustinMyka2049 From wiki: "...stripped of her gold medal shortly after the competition concluded, when it was revealed that she had failed doping controls, testing positive for pseudophedrine, at the time a banned substance."
@spartyutube you are clearly not an elite gymnast; their one and only dream is to go to the olympics. if they don't make it, that's the end of their dream. as for raducan, hello? her olympic gold was taken away from her!
She won the 2000 Olympic All around, but had the medal stripped due to taking cold medicine prescribed by the team doctor that day. The cold medicine is now allowed. Romanian gymnasts swept the podium, and when the new medals were awarded to the girls her teammates wouldn't accept the medals :] The teammate who got the gold, gave it back to Andreea.
It was pseudoephedrine, which is Sudafed. The fact that it was EVER on the banned list is completely stupid. Google it, read the effects: speeds up the heart, can make you jittery. It sure as hell doesn't keep you on the beam or make your FX stronger. The Olympic Committee has it's head up its ass.
No, she won the all around at the 2000 sydney olympics, but it was taken away because she was given cold medicine for her cold by the team doctor. Poor girl :[
Great video...Vanessa was one of my favorite gymnasts. I was extremly disappointed when she wasn't on the 2000 Oly. Team. Her first floor tumbling pass was AMAZING!
Not only did she go out of bounds but she landed wrong on her ankle and I believe she at least had a bad twist but might have severaly sprained it, I can't remember exactly that was quite some time ago.

Ok gymnastics is harder then football. In football if u messup u get another chance in gymnastics u dont get another chance. U have 2 have lots of mental toughness in gymnastics and its a demanding sport the coaches push u 2 ur limit or even farther. I agree footballs hard but not as hard as gymnastics!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hahah ok there calm down there gym girl gymnastics is difficult but Football played at its highest lever umm ya you try to last one second on the field and I can assure you that you would not be alive anymore and your face would be implanted into the ground
actually no, i am being a little unreasonable, maybe football for you, american football is that bad,
MAYBE even gymnastics and football do measure up, but the sports are ENTIRELY different, it's almost impossible compare the two fairly, they have almost no similiarities, no footballer could ever be a decent gymnast, just as no gymnast could ever be ( or it's highly unlikely ) a decent footballer...
of course I think gymnastics is the hardest sport, because I am a gymnast. But you can't really compare the sport with something like football. My cousins are athletes- one plays football one basketball. the football player has 2 sometimes 3 a days (3 practices a day) which sometimes total 8 hours or more. they practice 6days a week like me whether theyre sick or well and its really common to throw up/pass out at practice b/c of heat stroke/dehydration. injuries are extremely common.
my cousin that plays bball recently tore her acl and mcl for the 2nd time. blowing out knees is one of the most common injuries for a sport like basketball because of the constant pressure put on the players' joints. of course gymnastics is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports there is, but after seeing practices and games of other sports, it opened my eyes to the way they really are, and they aren't so much different than my sport.
Even though football hurts, you have padding and helmets and stuff. In gymnastics, you don't have any padding and you can like, blow a knee. My dance coach was a college gymnast and on one of her tumbling passes her knee joint completely detached itself from her leg. fter she got it sewn back together it swelled up huge and she couldn't bend it farther than 90 degrees for 1 year.
Gymnastics is one of the most physically and emotionally demanding sports you can do. Most pro's start really young (Like 3-5, my friends did at least).
The are constantly injured, sore, exhausted, everything. 6 days of hard training a week, 8 hours a day. No footballer could get near that. And no footballer could eat properly and drink no alcohol like these girls and guys have to.
I totally agree with you, recently I've been watching some videos of chinese training and its hard to believe how much pressure this kids have to deal with. and after all this hard training they have to show the world if training paid off...hard, but an amazing and beautiful sport
Yes the mental element you need to be a gymnast is enough to put a person over the edge alone.
So many mistakes can happen and you need to be mentally ready and strong to actually be brave enough to be a gymnast. Not to mention all the physical strength and flexibility one needs.
I think they are all close of becomeing superheroes. They can fly, run faster, be mentally tougher all by the age of 14-19 y.o. I think that is amazing.
Football is nowhere near as hard as gymnastics, all they have to do is get a ball and run a few metres, in gymnatsics they train almost everyday learning something new trying to perfect everyday and with coaches yelling at you for about3hrs isnt very fair. gymnastics takes alot more statistics and focus plus concentration so shutup you footballers, see if you can even do a summersault. thats all :) ,x
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ok but when you have a 6'6'' 165 pound linebacker who runs a 4.4 forty at full speed trying at all costs to hurt you then umm ya in gymnatics its just you out there. there are no freaks of nature trying to rip your head off
let me correct myself 225 pounds and if the only freaks of nature are people putting up numbers for your score then I think your alright and these gymnists practice 4-8 hours a day in football there is no way that is possible because it is to strenuous painful and ridicously hard
what i'm most confused about...really, is how your name can be 'ILoveShawnJohnson1' and yet you are insulting the sport she dedicates all her time, basically her life to, what's up with that?
plus, the mental element of gymnastics is enough to put anyone over the edge, gymnasts start from as young as 2, that's YEARS of serious frustration and pressure, footballers, well...
Umm not once did I say gymnastics is not hard but people are comparing apples to oranges you obvioulsy do not see the point Im trying to make and just bc I like ShawnJohnson do I now have to have gymnastics be my favorite thing in the world and say it is the hardest sport ever come on Common Sense Much???
what's the highest level of football? pro right? and there are 100 times more pro football players than elite gymnasts. making football 100 times easier. football is the same thing from when you're young to when you are pro.. get the ball and get it down the field, same concept completely. gymnastics is different all the time, learning new skills and perfecting them.
GYMNASTICS IS SO MUCH HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Try working through pain everyday with a coach yelling at u to try harder and that u suck at gymnastics just 2 make u try harder
I think it's dumb when people compare sports.. No one can justify which is harder because they are soo different.. Football is the same thing over and over day- get the football and run plays.. gymnasticsis a progressive sport: you are always learning new skills and trying to perfect them.. it's a brutal battle.. frankly i agree that gymnastics is hands down the hardest sport today.. but i have no proof.
I personally am one who always thinks that the training that I do is harder than anybody elses. Here, however, that is nt the case - no matter what anyone else thinks, gymnastics is harder.
I've had 2 sisters who've done gym, all who've pushed their bodies to the limits in order to get anywhere. My older sister broke both her legs at the same time. My younger sister, one year later, then broke both her arms at the same time.
Tell me that doesn't require commitment. Swimming is nil.
ya u sed lotsa other things too. jus stop tryin to pretend like ur rite. cuz ur rong. the reason it seems like wer complaining is cuz it is hard. (the hardest sport in the world) and im not sayin that i can do any other sport perfect, im jus sayin gymnastics is harder.
i wish i could land my floor routines like that and every time i dont i get laughed at by the older girls and my coach hits us and no one knows and i don't know what to do?
I'm sure the other girls feel the same way. Talk to them about it and then tell the coach that if he doesn't stop hitting you, then you are all going to quite. Its serious that your coach abuses you, he might get worse. But if no one else seems to care then tell your school guidance counsilor or the police, you can get a new coach that knows how to coach you without being abusive. Gmynastics is fun and competitive, not stressful and aggresive. Dont' ever be afraid to tell.
What program did you use to make this?:)))

U have 2 have lots of mental toughness in gymnastics and its a demanding sport the coaches push u 2 ur limit or even farther. I agree footballs hard but not as hard as gymnastics!
lil6ave 3 years ago 3
i agree :]]]. "after a day of football, a gymnast would be bruised. after a day of gymnastics, a football player would be dead."

hahah ok there calm down there gym girl gymnastics is difficult but Football played at its highest lever umm ya you try to last one second on the field and I can assure you that you would not be alive anymore and your face would be implanted into the ground

actually no, i am being a little unreasonable, maybe football for you, american football is that bad,
MAYBE even gymnastics and football do measure up, but the sports are ENTIRELY different, it's almost impossible compare the two fairly, they have almost no similiarities, no footballer could ever be a decent gymnast, just as no gymnast could ever be ( or it's highly unlikely ) a decent footballer...
that's just how it is.
it's unfair on BOTH sports to compare the two.
gymshiv 3 years ago
of course I think gymnastics is the hardest sport, because I am a gymnast. But you can't really compare the sport with something like football. My cousins are athletes- one plays football one basketball. the football player has 2 sometimes 3 a days (3 practices a day) which sometimes total 8 hours or more. they practice 6days a week like me whether theyre sick or well and its really common to throw up/pass out at practice b/c of heat stroke/dehydration. injuries are extremely common.
gymn0brunette0hanley 3 years ago 2
my cousin that plays bball recently tore her acl and mcl for the 2nd time. blowing out knees is one of the most common injuries for a sport like basketball because of the constant pressure put on the players' joints. of course gymnastics is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports there is, but after seeing practices and games of other sports, it opened my eyes to the way they really are, and they aren't so much different than my sport.
gymn0brunette0hanley 3 years ago 2
Even though football hurts, you have padding and helmets and stuff. In gymnastics, you don't have any padding and you can like, blow a knee. My dance coach was a college gymnast and on one of her tumbling passes her knee joint completely detached itself from her leg. fter she got it sewn back together it swelled up huge and she couldn't bend it farther than 90 degrees for 1 year.
calluvsspirit 3 years ago 4
Football? No.
It's just an amazing sport.
Edoss1 3 years ago 11
I totally agree with you, recently I've been watching some videos of chinese training and its hard to believe how much pressure this kids have to deal with. and after all this hard training they have to show the world if training paid off...hard, but an amazing and beautiful sport
minmeicwz 3 years ago 9
Yes the mental element you need to be a gymnast is enough to put a person over the edge alone.
So many mistakes can happen and you need to be mentally ready and strong to actually be brave enough to be a gymnast. Not to mention all the physical strength and flexibility one needs.
Cheerleading4Ever 3 years ago 4
I think they are all close of becomeing superheroes. They can fly, run faster, be mentally tougher all by the age of 14-19 y.o. I think that is amazing.

Gymnastics is not hard if it comes naturally but only very few people posses that..
But yeah it is harder than football
haguey101 3 years ago 2
It's not that it's harder, it just take a lot more determination, and it's more dangerous. It's also a lot more fun.
GhostofVengence 3 years ago 7
Football is nowhere near as hard as gymnastics, all they have to do is get a ball and run a few metres, in gymnatsics they train almost everyday learning something new trying to perfect everyday and with coaches yelling at you for about3hrs isnt very fair. gymnastics takes alot more statistics and focus plus concentration so shutup you footballers, see if you can even do a summersault. thats all :) ,x

Ok but when you have a 6'6'' 165 pound linebacker who runs a 4.4 forty at full speed trying at all costs to hurt you then umm ya in gymnatics its just you out there. there are no freaks of nature trying to rip your head off
ILoveShawnJohnson1 3 years ago
in gymnasticsthe freaks of nature are the judges, the coaches, and your own frustration footbal is painful, but otherwise it doesn't even come close
gymshiv 3 years ago 6
let me correct myself 225 pounds and if the only freaks of nature are people putting up numbers for your score then I think your alright and these gymnists practice 4-8 hours a day in football there is no way that is possible because it is to strenuous painful and ridicously hard
ILoveShawnJohnson1 3 years ago
what i'm most confused about...really, is how your name can be 'ILoveShawnJohnson1' and yet you are insulting the sport she dedicates all her time, basically her life to, what's up with that?
plus, the mental element of gymnastics is enough to put anyone over the edge, gymnasts start from as young as 2, that's YEARS of serious frustration and pressure, footballers, well...
gymshiv 3 years ago 3
Umm not once did I say gymnastics is not hard but people are comparing apples to oranges you obvioulsy do not see the point Im trying to make and just bc I like ShawnJohnson do I now have to have gymnastics be my favorite thing in the world and say it is the hardest sport ever come on Common Sense Much???
ILoveShawnJohnson1 3 years ago
acording to your name you dont 'like' shawn johnson you arctually love her, if you liked football more then that should be your username, either way
i can't be bothered to reply to you again, you're wasting to much of my time,i have way better things to do, goodbye.
gymshiv 3 years ago
what's the highest level of football? pro right? and there are 100 times more pro football players than elite gymnasts. making football 100 times easier. football is the same thing from when you're young to when you are pro.. get the ball and get it down the field, same concept completely. gymnastics is different all the time, learning new skills and perfecting them.
FlippinTitan2010 3 years ago
it just as dangerous, you can kill your self in gym
gymbug001 3 years ago 3
I agree. Examples: Yelena Mukhina, Julissa Gomez and some more.
espinaca79 3 years ago
yes, but if you're playing football.. you are that size too. if a football player tried to what gymnasts do, they'd injure themselves too.
FlippinTitan2010 3 years ago
For gymnasts, the 'freak of nature' is called physics.
And gravity hurts... trust me.
kellybean406 3 years ago 2

Ok 3-a-day football practices in the dog days of summer in southern ohio (highly humidable area).
oh yeah with full pads on.
don't tell me that stretching, flipping, and binging and purging is more tough than the necessary training for football
hXcorey 3 years ago
before I watched the Olympics this year, I would've agreed. But after seeing what they do and put themselves through, I think you're just winy.
I play football aswell. I live in eastern Texas (highly humidable area)
oh yeah with full pads on. (although, I don't just sit on the bench)
I bet that the stretching, flipping..., have made them strong enough to kick your ***.
ihate2learn 3 years ago 7
That's what we're telling you. This is the toughest sport. It takes a lot more skill than touching other mens parts.
moiellamoimimi 3 years ago 2
That is EXACTLY what we are telling. No football player could last ONE day of Elite Gymnastics training.
gymnasticsrockzz 3 years ago 2
if you would see them training you would see that a footballer would probably never get through all these excercises they got so much power ...
Tschaaanie 3 years ago

SaraBear180 3 years ago
Swimming is hard.
&& the coaches dont give a fuck GRR.
emmawozere2006 3 years ago
and u think they give a fuck but gymnastics bein hard? they dont. gymnastics is harder.
SaraBear180 3 years ago 2
ii didnt say swimming was harder.
i just said swimming was hard....
and anyway all sports are the same if you really want it then you work hard to get it.
emmawozere2006 3 years ago
you also have to remember the age of the gymnasts.
we peak around age 16 and in swimming you have many more years after that.
horsekrazy74 3 years ago 2
swimming is easy.
at age 8 i was the number 8 swimmer in texas in my age group.
it got too easy and boring cause i won every race.

i wish i could land my floor routines like that and every time i dont i get laughed at by the older girls and my coach hits us and no one knows and i don't know what to do?
brieann1122 3 years ago
If your coach is hitting you to the point of causing bruises, you definitely need to tell someone. That should never be happening.
violet46 3 years ago 2
but if i tell my mom will not care
brieann1122 3 years ago
I'm sure the other girls feel the same way. Talk to them about it and then tell the coach that if he doesn't stop hitting you, then you are all going to quite. Its serious that your coach abuses you, he might get worse. But if no one else seems to care then tell your school guidance counsilor or the police, you can get a new coach that knows how to coach you without being abusive. Gmynastics is fun and competitive, not stressful and aggresive. Dont' ever be afraid to tell.
Sports4ever77 3 years ago 2
very good advice!!!
Hopefully, she will tell someone,
I can't even imagine "hitting" my students!
I don't even "yell" at them.
I'm sometimes firm, but I NEVER humiliate my students!
rokki41 3 years ago
yes hun, you definitely need to tell someone about the abuse
okhan001 3 years ago
but i cant because if i told everyone at the gym would hate me and i would be alone
brieann1122 3 years ago
I just read your 'below' remark,
and if your Mom doesn't care, then you NEED to tell some adult that can help you!!!
If you don't, you could get serious physical dammage, & emotional.
Maybe you could talk to your guidance counselor at school??
