It is important to mention that our band was great because of Prof. Mannino. His son Mark Mannino and Jesse Gross wrote and choreographed the marching shows while he directed the concert and Jazz bands. His greatest talent was attracting talent and bringing the best out of students. Even if you had little talent, Prof. let you know that you had potential and your small part was vital for success. That is how he put together an outstanding 100-man marching band in a small high school.

In 1979 we were the first band in New Orleans to win the Mid City parade competition, "The Greatest Band in Dixieland." I wish I could find a copy of the video tape of that day.
The late 70's & early 80's; The peak of the Holy Cross Music Dept. Prof. Mannino & Mike Orkus both played a part in the high level of success the Music Dept. gained. After this year & one or two more years, the dept. was never quite the same. GO TIGERS !!!
Do you have any other footage from the 1981 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade? I'm trying to get footage of my high school performing.
