  • You have a big dog, you should be feeding him whole chickens, not the wings. My 12 pound poodle eats chicken backs and legs.

  • Dog is thinking "I wish I had opposable thumbs so I can get a hold of this delicious chicken wing!".

  • why am i watching this????

  • Is it just me or does your dog seem sad?

  • @ASUSproz It's just you. ;-) Jerry was the happiest dog we have ever met. Check out his other videos for proof, he's just focused on his yummy raw dinner!

  • @jerrygdawg

ha guess its just me. cause he sames very bored or something.

  • Hmm, I wouldn't have known it without watching these videos about raw diets that dogs seem to instinctively crunch up the bones really good. Too bad people still pipe up about bones being bad for dogs.

  • looks a bit sad

  • lmao it took forver for one!

  • I have a Boston and a Frenchie. Do you know of any owners of short muzzle dogs having problems feeding raw chicken bones? I'm thinking of switching them to a raw food diet after watching my 13 y/o retriever waste away from liver cancer.

  • Haven't heard of anything positive or negative about smaller dogs eating raw. They should do just fine. If they can't break the bones, they won't. Check out the BARFWORLD website or try searching Google for the BARF diet and small dogs (Bones And Raw Food). Good Luck!

  • aw im sorry :( im wanting to switch my dogs to the BARF diet as well. no idea why its even legal for companies to be selling trash dog food. but then again, they sell US trash all the time too. i am also going organic

  • My dog has composites on two back top molars, one on each side from root canals.

The vet dentist said not to give him anything hard even a soft chicken bone. I can't find a butcher to grind chicken bones for me. Does anyone know of a company that sells an inexpensive bone grinder?

  • I'd check eBay! Thanks for asking.

  • Is that a regular sized portion you are feeding him in the video or do you have the bowl set there for show? That seems like a lot in one sitting.

  • As a 75 lb dog, 5-6 small chicken wings is a regular portion when Jerry had nothing else for dinner. (We used to switch between days of totally raw and days of EVO kibble.)

His current diet consists of a mixture of kibble, wet food, veggies and supplements in addition to two or three larger chicken drumsticks. Read all about his canine cancer diet and supplements on the TRIPAWDS website.

    Thanks for asking!

  • Thanks for the information :) Glad to see your dog is so happy and healthy!

  • Most raw feeders do a 2-3% of a dogs adult weight for food per day. I love seeing all these raw food videos and hate seeing how many ppl are still so misinformed.

  • Chichen bones are dangerous for dogs, they splinter and get stuck in the throat.

  • Sorry, but you are misinformed. COOKED chicken bones are bad for dogs. RAW meat and bones are healthy! Cooking dries out the bones and causes them to splinter. Raw bones are good for dogs. It keeps their teeth clean, provides calcium, and makes poop really easy to pick up. Think about what dogs eat in the wild -- raw birds and rodents! Just Google the BARF Diet (Bones and Raw Food) to find out more, or visit Jerry's website at tripawds dot comm to learn all about his healthy canine cancer diet.

  • If I've fed my dog cooked meat in the past (boneless), is it a bad idea to have him eat raw meat?

Also is a medium size dog considered too small to be on the BARF diet?

Is it alright if I just let my dog snack on raw meat once or twice a month? Or do I have to go all the way or not at all?

My dog eats Orijen dog food, but could I let him eat raw meat and bones every now and then?

  • Raw meat is much better for dogs than cooked. Cooking removes most the nutrients they get in nature. Never feed cooked bones to a dog as this dries them out, and they can splinter.

As long as the dog is large and strong enough to crush the bones, he should be OK.

We feed Jerry raw a few times a week, not all the time. It is certainly OK to mix raw and high grade dog food, or feed raw as a treat anytime.

    Hope this helps...

  • awwee

My two maltese had their very first raw food today: chicken wing just like the ones that your doggie was eating in this vid ;)

just a question, call it stupid, but I am new to this raw feeding thing:

    Did I do this right:

I took the chicken wing outta the fridge, washed it a little, then to my maltese' dishes. Is this the right method to prepare?

    kat

  • Wow. You wash it? And you put it in a dish? ;-)

Yes you are feeding correctly. Jerry really will eat chicken right off the ground. And he especially loves licking up the juices when we do put it in a bowl.

Anyway, I would just be concerned about raw feeding with such a small breed. We have only known larger breeds to be fed raw.

We often buy bulk chicken and freeze it. We'll take it out to thaw in the morning and feed Jerry at night.

  • i cannot express enough how awesome the BARF diet is. both for the dog and me. SOOO much cheaper and healthier for my pup, keep feeding raw!

  • Thanks for the comment! For more info about my healthy diet and recovery from canine cancer be sure to visit tripawds dot com!

  • He really knows to enjoy it =)

I will start to feed BARF this month, so thanks for the link!

  • i love that crunching sound!! lol lucky dog

  • I totally agree! I love my BARF diet (Bones And Raw Food). Read all about my meal plans and healthy supplements at tripawds dot com ... just click on Health Tips. Thanks for the comment!

  • Always happy to see other raw-feeders out there! We feed our 3 cats and our Aussie a 'pre-made' raw frozen diet (from Nature's Variety) along with some RMB's (raw meaty bones, for those who don't know) and they just LOVE it. I have a video on here showing how crazy the kitties get over their food. A raw diet (done right) is so much more beneficial to dogs & cats than anything you could ever find in a dry kibbled pet food. I feel so bad for all the pets out there eating crap like Beneful.. UGH!
