Yep incline press I remember ten years ago lifting heavy and hit the last rep and got one side caught under the rack and yep snap city my shoulder was in my chest :/ all good now
Oh hai! Have you ever tried the Fat Blast Furnace (do a google search)? Ive heard some great things about it and my cooworker burned a lot of unwanted fat.
@StarCraftiNator It would be strenght training instead bodybuilding then and you would also need lot more rest because strenght training takes alot hit on your nervous system. You can't do too many 1-4 rep sets, just few to get your body used on heavier weight.
Hey, to avoid shoulder pain on heavy bench press keep your elbows close to your body. You will be able to use more weight and avoid needless shouder joint injuries. If you feel like a joint is going to explode, you are doing something wrong.
So for the exercise you're 'tricking' on, say if you'd normally do 3 sets of it, would you only do this 'trick set' once before all 3 or one before every normal set?
holy shit no wonder, one week I supersetted rack deadlifts with standard floor deadlifts (315 in the rack followed by 185 sdl) and the 185 sdl felt easy, but then the next week i skipped the rack deadlifts and 185 felt harder and I diddnt know why, btw I weigh about 140 and I just started doing deadlifts so dont laugh ;D
@Salvat1onHD Nobody should laugh at any weight because people who do inflate thier ego by lifting too heavy and in time you will be bigger than them. Anyone who seriously builds doesn't chase numbers, they lift what they NEED to lift.
@samr0ss I don't know, I chase numbers in a certain sense. I have it written down how much I lifted the week before, and I try to improve on this. If you can add 5 pounds to your bench press in a month, that is a great. Go through 12 months and that is a full 60 pounds, 2 years at that rate and it is 120 pounds. I remember seeing a video of Dorian Yates giving this advice to new lifters, and I think it is pretty good. But maybe this is not what you mean by chasing numbers.
@analyticannoyance Yeah it's good to see that improvement. I was talking of the people who lift more than they should because they want everyone to see those big plates instead of improving when needed. I Remember when i started at the gym and I was always worried about what people thought of me lifting. Now when I see a newbie lifting light weight I think good on him because he is lifting with the right weight with good form instead of chasing high numbers too soon.
I've read and watched all kinds of shit on weight training and never heard some shit like this. I'm gonna try it out see if it works for me. Good tip fellas!
hi youtubers! just need abit of advice plz. im about 12-5 stone been working out for 6months with weights 4-5 times week, got the body i want for this summer coming up, ripped and all. but ive noticed im not getting any bigger? y is that?...i have 150 grams protien and low low carbs, . am i not getting bigger because im not eating aload of good carbs? if i do eat more will i lose my 6 pack?! or is it because ive done the same workouts for 6 months? should i change it? .lukeykeddie@gmail.com x
@Lukekeddie you dont just need to lift weights to build muscle...you need to lift them all to FAILURE!! this is THE most important aspect of bodybuilding....you cant just lift a weight 12 times you can crank 15 reps out before not being able to do anymore. also you should eat the majority of your carbs AROUND exercise...like before and after
Could some of you guys try this , i don't know if its just me, but i do a set at the start that is around 80% of what i am planning to do on the exercise (say bench). then wait like 4-5 min and begin ur sets as normal. it just feels sooo much easier????
@IamBday thats dumb if you ask me.. you shouldnt be working out a set number of reps, you should do as many as you possibly can untill you physically cant do one more
@staker222 because on the second set you're COUNTING BACKWARDS. Look.. ever wonder why stores price everything at 99 cents instead of rounding it up a cent to the next dollar? Because human psychology is overly sensitive to smaller numbers. So instead of flooding your brain with high numbers (like 14 or15) that are associated with lots of work late in the set when you're at your weakest, you use numbers that are smaller (2 or 1) to psychologically decrease the amount of perceived work remaining
@IamBday *sigh* i know why youre doing it... but it doesnt make any sense
You shouldnt be able to do more reps on the second set because you should have fatigued if you tried hard enough, if you were to "count backwards" then you should be doing less reps not 2 more as that should be impossible, unless your not working out hard enough on first set
@IamBday p.s. stores dont use pschological pricing such as making it 99p because we cant percieve the number £1 ( as that is a smaller number ) ,, its so it appears cheaper
@staker222 well alright. I can see we're going to disagree. I guess my advice would be to learn about sports psychology if you want to understand why it all works.. but again no big deal. As a great man once said "it's not that serious.. it's just advice. Go out there and do whatever the FUCK.. YOU WANNA DO" haha
hi guys ...i have been inspired by you guys, luimarco, rob riches and elliot from strength camp. i have created my own little fitness blog ...its muscle-blog(dot)com ...Could you guys let me know what you think? I offer free info...I must admit, that some of the stuff I have learned from you guys...
Hey guys, thanks for the advice, but I think I'm just going to go out there and do whatever the F#$% I WANNA DO!!! lol just playin'. Your advice is golden.
how do you warm up before going heavy? Say i go 225 heavy. Im scared to pop some shit just stacking 2 plates off the get go. What do you guys do to warm up for heavy?
@gangsterdrester i do the exercise with very light weight like 25% of my max for 10 reps, then like 40% for 5 n then like 60 70% for 3, twins said they do that so i copied it n its great so far (:
@somedudey0 Regardless of wether you want to powerlift or not, if you want to learn how to be a better bencher, go to different sources. I'm more interested in powerlifting; that is, I'm more interested in functional strength than in being judged on physical appearance.
Powerlifters are only interested in lifting heavier. Lifting heavier means getting stronger, and getting stronger goes with getting bigger. You don't have to powerlift, you can still learn from powerlifting.
@somedudey0 Yeah, it's just advice. Powerlifters do a different bench than bodybuilders (powerlifters lift through a smaller range of motion).
I'm not a powerlifter, I'm just more interested in getting strong than in looking a certain way. I need to get more fit first.
I did learn from the powerlifting video though. About form on the bench (good form, eg shoulders pinched together, and how it won't feel comfortable), setting up, taking the bar out of the rack (squeezing your lats)...
Usually there's a point where the muscles have gotten an initial pump with the blood flowing to them and your heart rate is at a good pace, that's where your biggest muscle building, 6-8 rep lifts will come from. The first 1-2 sets is usually what it takes to get to this point. Although wether it's better to use heavy weight with 4-6 reps like they said or light weight with 12-16 reps is dependant on the person. The point is not to fatigue the muscles to quickly.
Indeed. I have felt the same way. When I go high for few reps, then switch for medium weight, I can do more of medium weight reps than I could do normally.
@palatialregalia88 you bet, there is also endurance building. A marathon runner isn't huge because his muscle's repair themselves in a way that allow him to do more, while a sprinter is typically pretty big or more muscular because he is built in a way that will allow him to do a lot in a little
This shit helped me Soo Much!!! I can usually pull 225x4 kicking on that last one but I didn't 215x5 first then 225x5 second Mann that shot felt light!!

Indeed. I have felt the same way. When I go high for few reps, then switch for medium weight, I can do more of medium weight reps than I could do normally.

theres a difference between strength and muscle building. wtf
palatialregalia88 2 months ago
@palatialregalia88 you bet, there is also endurance building. A marathon runner isn't huge because his muscle's repair themselves in a way that allow him to do more, while a sprinter is typically pretty big or more muscular because he is built in a way that will allow him to do a lot in a little
