You don't want to tamp down the coffee, just level it off. If you tamp it down in this form of stovetop coffee maker, you will not get a complete brew, and water will remain in the reservoir instead of brewing.
Also, I may have missed it, but you may want to let your audience know that the pot should be placed over medium to low heat, depending on the stove (weak flames would obviously need to be on high).
i have the exact same one. Thought it was a perculater myself....but anyways planning on attemting a all nighter playing some call of duty, and im out of redbulls and monsters, so im gonna be needing the Moka pot.
I have a pot just like yours, and never knew how to use it. I love coffee, and this looks just they way I like it. Thank you so very much. Bless, Sheila
your better off pouring boiling water into the pot, it takes less time and your coffee is hotter and keeps hotter longer .Also I add the coffee to the warmed up milk & sugar I find it more flavoursome that way but just personal prefernce I guess, nice touch with the froth ill have to get one of those little frothers!
@FredB127 Gourmet says nothing about price. :-) Only about a sense of luxury. The term is kinda vague though. IMHO, something is gourmet if more effort is required and the expected results are above mainstream.
hey thanks for this, my friend ran out of coffee filters, and we have a percolator, and the type of coffee filters for those.. had to learn how to use this lol i feel so dumb... thanks alot
I just bought one just like this one. Where do you fill up the water? I don't see the line. Twice now the water has come back up through the coffee holder.
you can use these percolators for reg coffee as well - he's right, way better than those paper-filter things. And you dont need a bag for the filter, the filter is that first part he took off (small thing with the holes in it).
I thought these were moka pots (stove top espresso makers) which produce something similar to "espresso" but because it lacks the full pressure, is almost "espresso". I thought percolators were those huge coffee pots with the tubes used in the 1950's! Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm fascinated by the different ways of making coffee and espresso!
Good job...percolated coffee is the best IMHO with French Press a neck n neck second...

SugaRush, you are right. It is an italian moka stove top espresso maker. It is not the same process. I love my moka!
