Heya folks, I just started doing similar videos covering the Fippy Darkpaw progression server. It's basically a classic server in which a list of raid targets must be taken out before a two to three month timer starts. When that timer ends every player on the server with a level 30+ character gets to vote on whether or not they are ready to move on to the next expansion. The vote will take place once a week until the majority of players vote to move on.

I'll also be making some scripted videos.

@killerhands17 An agnostic gnome wizard or mage would be a good place to start if you want to be a magic user(caster). Your home city would be Ak'Anon, your newbie zone would be Steamfont, which is one of the best, and you would be hated in very few cities.

The cleric's heal didn't heal for 100%. It was 10500, but they nerfed it to 7,000. Just no one had that much hp :p The mace was their epic.

monks took more skill then bards did spliting any mobs

i always found monks easy to play but bards could song weave 2 songs and kite any mob.. selos and a damage spell.

Bards had it easy compared to the rest. I remeber camping one place for hrs, killed a good amount of mobs and then i let a bard take over the camp.... i think he killed just as many as i did in about 5mins with ONE freaking pull LOL

Everquest was amazing for its time, but when i stopped playing it, like 4 years back it was getting rlly hard to find groups, and good luck soloing something if u couldn't fear kite.... the game is good to look back on, and good practice for the new games coming out, but in all seriousness, its dying, if not dead alrdy....I wish it could make a comeback, but unlikely, WoW has taken everything EQ had, and improved it, u can solo, it has better pvp, EQ was bigger than wow for wows first 2 years,GG

I played a wood elf named "Naloldarie". I don't think I ever got her past lvl 16,I was too busy goofing around with people to care about leveling half the time.

There is still a live server (completely legit, obviously) that is partially classic (all expansions up to Planes of Power). It is called "EQ mac", which was released by SOE for....as you guess it -- the Mac fan based.

Awesome community. The server itself is called something along the lines of "Al'Kabor"

I remember before they created the level requirements for items and I had a female Wood Elf Warrior named ... you might laugh... "Hotthing".

Long story short, I twinked the heck out of her and then went romping around Greater Faydark at level 3 or 5 killing everything. That's the day I learned about KSing. I didn't know stealing someone's kill was a bad thing! LOL

Bards. My second, and ultimately my favorite character, was a bard. I played a bard to 60, quit the game for a while, came back on another server and played another bard to 68. I believe this was during Planes of Power?

Funny shit, good times. you probably should fire up a eqemu emulator for examples. its REAL easy to run your own server, you could cycle through all the mobs, by making yourself them, you can fly over zones to show people around etc..

this is how you run a server, install mysql, get old version of eq, point ini to equemu server, install eq db into mysql from eqemu, log int the eqemu servers, pick your server, bam your in and your a GM, others can log in also naturally.

I played a Cleric for my first couple years playing. Then switched over to a bard. The Bard was definitely the most fun class to play, imo. Get to run faster than anyone else and everyone wants you in their group, but I soloed most of the time anyway.

I remember getting my shadowknight to 32 and being all cocky, but I remember people telling me at later levels, Paladins could wipe the floor with an SK because they had Celestial Healing, so they could regen out of a SK's DPS

I tried to lobby on the official forums for SOE to please release a Classic server.  But between the gestapo tactics of the moderators merging and deleting threads, and the current 05'er players drowning out Classic folks by flaming them and starting fights, its hard to get anything of sustance rolling.

They even recently closed the "Begging for Classic" thread that had over 300 pages of posts.

he starts off with bards: there was a /weave or something command you could make a macro of, and i had an alt bard i managed to weave 6-7 songs at a time with that / command

I played a shadowknight in EQ for the 5 years I played. I had a few alts, but hardly touched them. SK's were the masters of surviving the craziest stuff in the game and pulling off the most impossible pulls.

What I liked about EQ is that you had a lot of freedom. There was lots of stuff that we found other uses for then intended, which wasn't outlawed and added a lot of depth. In WoW, you gotta play like Blizz wants it or not play at all.

it's very different. catching up will be difficult, but if you join a guild, they'll get you caught up to speed. there's an everquest group on facebook that I lead, they can prolly give you some advice.

you could only twist 4 5 was impossible. I played on seventh hammer 70 warrior Meelin and on test 72 mage Meelin/ 70 monk garonn and a 67 ranger trackart

Actually, 5 was possible, if you had Breath of Harmony from Sebilis. BoH was a main hand weapon with instant click "Niv's Melody of Preservation". So you twist your usual 4 songs and click BoH, and bam, 5 songs. :)

I believe 4 songs was the max amount you could twist. Even with a automated macro I don't remember getting 5.

haha, those SK skelles were so pathetic. The first pet they got level 15?? conned light blue, and then all the ones after that until lvl 50 were green! After expansions, when you go to lvl 60 as an SK you finally got a blue pet (the lvl 51 necro pet) & wow, i remember a lot about this game. lol

Moiseman there are no true classic servers there spare eqc's project.. and eqemu is fairly dead. MMO is an MMO.... eqemu averages like 50 people a server
