  • People's voices are normally meant to get deeper with age. Why hasn't Sid's? lol

  • Eric obviously felt the bull was not on for him. Great final.

  • I remember this when I was a kid. Even at a young age I could appreciate the talent both these guys showed that night. It was one of the most nail biting, closely fought matches i've ever seen. It made me go and buy a dartboard and some darts afterwards lol. No matter which guy you were rooting for, you can't deny that they were both incredible that night. Brilliant entertainment :)

  • Just goes to show, never go for a percentage shot!

  • He had also some time- or darts-wise records (in 701 or smth)?

  • Keith was the first man to average 100 in the World Champs. He lost to Lowe Bo though.

  • Bristowe thought he was down the pub "he isn;t going to checkout from there" he forgot it was the world champs!!!

  • bristow looks like sylvester stallone with a mouthfull of sweets

  • Hahaaaa....Eric shoots % shot. It is like saying: hey, kid, the 138 is too high # for you to take out ! And Keith screws Eric over ! What a finish !!!!!!

  • 3:04 does someone cause Deller to miss by calling him a wanker?

  • lol think so

  • sounds like it, dont it?

  • i thought i had seen these darts before i noticed my cousin uses them! =) but has different flights

  • keith deller of ipswich lol classic

  • well done dad

  • Great stuff! Didn't Keith Deller have those spring loaded darts or something that reduced bounce outs?

  • don't know, but I want a set of Keith Dellers darts

  • see Deller's black eye

  • bristow will regret that for the rest of his life

  • bristow is such a arsehole

  • That'll teach Bristow for being so arrogant. Utterly amazing!!

  • One of the best British events of all time. 138 for ever

  • Alot of 'Eye' and 'Diss'' from the Suffolk Lad. not bad knowing theses places from a Westcountryman.

  • It's sad to see Deller and Bristow unable to role back the years and become forces in world darts again, They had their best playing days in their 20s and began sinking like lead balloons by age 40 (earlier for Eric). Only re-enforced by of the current crop of old Pro's (Taylor, Adams, Jenkins, O'shea, Fitton etc): all having their golden harvests after age 43.

  • I think Bristow is great but he should'nt have been so cocky as to think Deller would'nt get the shot!

  • what a checkout in any circumstances but final leg etc......amazing!!

and does someone call him a wanker at 3:06?? haha

  • @forder07 yes someone sayd wanker

  • @forder07 Yes haha, well spotted - like the true sportsmen they are they drain their glasses at the end haha. Great stuff

  • y didnt bristow go for the bull??? u never no but keller did deserve the title, layed grt darts against the crafty cockney so well done keith

    uve beaten bristow lol

  • unbelievable 138!!!

  • Best match i have ever seen what a finish and even more perfect when bristow played the percentage shot magic! My favourite dart player by far keith deller.

  • what a great match - deller coming back was amazing. this is when darts was darts!

  • Deller was quite sexy then.

  • quality checkout, suprised bristow didn't go for the bull, obviously thought he'd be back for double 16. See eric finishing his pint in true form at the end of the game (2.13)

  • The celebration at 1:54 does it for me. Timeless classic.

  • me dad played deller when he was champion in butlins in wales when i was a kid!! they played best of three & me dad took him to the last double in the last game but deller beat him 2-1. he turned shook me dads hand & told him he gave him a better game than bristow in the final!! haha

  • I remember that as though it was yesterday we were all screaming at the telly "COME ON DELLER"!!!! My mum was crying, my sister was crying, my brothers were crying and of course I was crying. What a great piece of English Sporting History.... and if you read this keith "COME ON DELLER" thanks for the memory....

  • deller should have got a knighthood for winning that championship against all the odds. lowe quarters, wilson semis,a remarkable acheivment.still to this day cant belive brissy never threw for that bull especally as keith banged in about 5 ton plus finishes before he won.real nice guy deller too met him on a famous lpool road he was lookin for suetes hotel knowsley was doin an exibtn ther after i gave him directions he signed autograph 4 my son and offered me to be his guest shame i was workin:(

  • my furthest back sporting memory..ahead of the world cup, european championship, any of that craic.... holy fuck i was only 9 at the time.. thats just what it meant to see the crafty cockneys crestfallen smug face at the end of it...SAVAGE entertainment!!!

  • Bristow may have come across as arrogant but I met him once and found him to be an absolute gentleman.Taylor may be king but no one could entertain like Eric.

  • what a checkout by keith deller 138 to win a world title against argubly against the second most successfull dart player of all time eric bristow brilliant stuff

  • Hell .. I just been asked my greatest sport moment ever.. and I came to find this was it!!

I was only about 14.. I'm nearly 39 now .. bring back the good tiems.. man that made my month!

I had a little crush on Keith ahha!!

and I'm suprised Eric didn't get him beaten up.. or did he..

  • wow, just wow, i only started watching darts about a year ago, but I wish i was alive and watching it back then.

  • Keith was and still is a great player-you never lose it.Eric had bottle and in previous years would have been a gladiator; so Keith did what very few could do.

  • Deller!

  • Class. its donkeys years since i saw this, brilliant.

  • ah happy days as a young tractor boy glued to the box thanx for the pride Keith.

  • well done dad

  • AHA!! You're Keiths son matt!! Bet you're proud as punch of your dad winning the world champtionship eh? I've seen him many times in the North Stand at Ipswich Town and he never gets fed up of talking about the 138, fantastic stuff!

  • well done dad

  • i remember it well.the gd times

  • Keith Deller, of IPSWICH!!!!

I've seen him many times in the North Stand at Portman Road and he loves talking about that checkout, he remembers it like it was yesterday.

Also it was a 12 dart leg, brilliant!

  • Aye, a 12 darter it was. In terms of least darts thrown in the title winning leg, I think this is the best leg that there's been. 2nd to that is Phil Taylor who threw a 13 darter to win the title 9 years later against Mike Gregory

  • it most certainly was

  • Brilliant - one of the most memorable checkouts in World Championship history.
