  • <3 :) i loved this production in my school

  • the beginning reminds me of sweeney todd hahah

  • make up your mind that your strong enough make up your mind let the truth be reveal admit what you've lost and live with the cost. that is so deep

  • I dont know about everyone else, but the 'ooooooo' s in the background give me chills everytime

  • I love this because most recordings would have had the dialogue cut from the songs on the CD (Spring Awakening springs to mind) but N2N really needs this dialogue there, kind of makes it flow as importantly as the lyrics do.

  • "that's first time you've mentioned natalie in weeks of therapy" hits me hard every time.

  • 8 people were not there.

  • Chillsssss.

  • Ok THIS one's my favorite...maybe...

  • anyone wanna post the chords or a link to the chords?

  • This is a chorus number for pokemon

  • 8 people can't find the lightswitch

  • This song just resonates in me. :'(

  • "Make up your mind that you're strong enough. Make up your mind, let the truth be revealed. Admit what you've lost and live with the cost. At times, it does hurt to be healed." <-- This part touches me so deeply.

  • i dont see how someone can like such a beautiful and brooding play and yet like that garbage glee

  • @lawvslight Woah. Just because you don't like Glee doesn't mean you have to call it garbage. There are plenty of shows that are WAY worse. At least Glee teaches people good things like acceptance. I love this musical, and I love Glee because they both make me happy, and they have taught me valuable life lessons. So that is how someone can like both Glee and Next to Normal.

  • @miryiah23 Same here! at least GLEE isn't some reality trash on TV of late. I love GLEE and Next to Normal! What would you RATHER watch GLEE or jersey shore (ehem,... Jersey Whores) ?

  • @JournalofWhut Jersey Shore scares me XD

  • @miryiah23 they should have a haunted house for halloween based on that. A snookie around every corner- and that doesn't mean candy lol.

  • @JournalofWhut I don't like Jersey Shore. I don't like Glee either. I love musical theatre, and I am in a lot of musicals at my school, and I don't like how Glee portrays Drama kids. I feel the characters are just the stereotypical Show Choir kids. I can't relate to them. And I also don't like how the fans will here a song (ie River deep, Mountain High) and then say the glee cast is better than Tina Turner. It is annoying. Glee isn't trashy, just unrealistic and a tad shallow.

  • @AKix32296 Thats your perception of it. I can relate to the kids in it. Being in both choir and Drama in school. I relate deeply to a majority of those people, especially the hierarchy of a high school. Not everyone is the same, and the show wasn't simply written for you. BUT ANYWAY, this isn't about glee, this is about the Fantastic Next To Normal!

On another note. Aaron Tveit is so my favorite musical theater singer, he's just fantastic in everything he does!

  • @lilminimoon That was kind of rude. But anyways, I didn't say that Glee was supposed to be written for me. I am just saying from the perspective of one Musical Theatre kid, that show isn't real at all. Our drama club is full of weird kids, no Rachels or Santanas. And kids that have amazing singing voices are treated like everyon else. That isnt a show for "underdogs" it is show for pretty girls wo can sing. I have nothing against Lea michele, she was great in Spring Awakening, i just hate glee

  • @AKix32296 Not everything has to be the same in series and real life? Not every rich unmarried guy bangs every young chick he meets? Gingers probably have souls? Got it? It doesn't matter. It's entertaining, and I have no idea why you start about GLEE in a next to normal vid.. Just saying >_> PS. LOVE THIS SONG <3

  • Greatest song in a musical ever. I'm completely taken aback.

  • I don't think you guys realize how amazing this song really is. I'm a child of "The Sound of Music" and "The King and I" but this literally might be one of the best songs in a musical I have ever heard. The characterization through the music is absolutely incredible; the percussive beats of anxiety intermingle perfectly with the emotional resonance of the lyrics. The song is an impeccable reflection of what Diana is experiencing -- the grief, the resistance, the fury, & especially the confusion.

  • Love it!

  • catch me I'm falling, please hear me calling, catch me i'm falling for good

  • Favourite song in the entire musical, I think. The harmonies are just... Woah.

  • WOW

  • The harmonies on "You know" blew me away.

  • the first time he sings catch me im falling he sounds like kurt from glee...

  • Dear eight people that don't like this song, what's wrong with you?

  • @p00rpr0ducti0ns1 It's probably because they can't make up their minds and no one caught them while they were falling.

  • @KixAxStyx Oh yes, and they didn't walk with him :)

  • I love the part where Natalie shouts, "She's Not There!!!" It's so powerful.

  • @StardustBeatle1039 and is more powerful on stage because she is very deseperate because Diane dont go to the show and before the said "She's Not There" screams FUCK hahahah sounds really really good

  • 8 people tripped down the stairs.

  • Eight people can't make up their mind.

  • Ah this is like the best song ever :)

  • ...wow. This is beautiful. The music. The voices. The lyrics. The story.

It made my heart beat faster and my breath come shorter.

    Amazing.

  • 3:42-4:02=<3

  • I love this song! My favourite part are the Catch me Im falling at the end :)

  • HOW COULD EIGHT PEOPLE NOT LIKE THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • my internet glitched when i was playing this song and i almost had a nervous break-down because i thought it was going to shut down

  • I adore this song <3

  • 2:47-2:55 is everything.

  • @aquaticstone I listen to this song FOR that part. So gut wrenching.

  • @aquaticstone

The Perfect Comment. You are so correct. This show is the best thing In my life.

  • Absolutely my favorite song!!!

  • Just saw it. Life-changing, no joke. This song is gorgeous, the show is gorgeous, nuff said.

  • I love the doctor's lines. I wish i had their voices. Aaron's range, Alice's emotions, Louis' vocal quality when singing feeling electric, adam's teenage rasp in Hey #3 and Meghann's song interpretation making Superboy and Invsible Girl even more emotionally clinging. I wish i could work with them.

  • 7 people fell.

they didnt deserve to be caught.

  • that guitar riff at 2:54 is like musical drugs to me. I love it! I love next to normal and im dying to see it... to bad its going off in january.....

  • @aliasparrow too bad glee is destroying musical theater...

  • @RENTLover108 In all sincerity, I disagree. I am a fan of Broadway theatre for a long time. Although I am annoyed by the autotunes, it does not mean you can't savage the raw talent and emotion that even the autotunes cannot hide. And members of musical theatre really do love the show for what it does (and Patti Lupone is among those supporters). Again, they aren't trying to match up, they are reinterpretating for their context.

  • @RENTLover108 Thank you!!!! somone who agrees!

  • @livelikelindsayxo if glee did next to normal i would kill someone.

  • @watcherofvideos111 I do not think there is anything wrong with Glee doing Next to Normal. They do make great reinterpretations, they don't try to be superior.

  • 6 people have made up their mind...and its wrong!!!! I don't know how many times I can say this is my fav. song of the show...it's just everyones breaking point and you can feel it...just love it.

  • thumbs up if glee should do next to normal HELLZ to the YAAA.

  • @livelikelindsayxo Chris Colfer is a fan of Next To Normal so there is definitely a possibility. :)

  • @livelikelindsayxo i like glee and all, but they probably would mess it up.

  • this song nursed me through depression. I felt like it was the only thing that understood how i felt. this song forever is a part of me.

  • I went to see this last week when I was visiting NYC...seriously, LOVE IT!!! I hope they open it in London, it would be huge! Such a great show, music, lyrics and the story is just AH-MAY-ZING!

  • NO!! SO UPSET THAT THIS IS CLOSING!!

  • this is weird to me :/

  • Beginning at 3:08, could someone please break it down? There's a little too much overlap to catch what everybody says. Thanks!

  • @ABCSuperSoaper DR. MADDEN: Make up your mind to be free at last. Make up your mind to be truly alive. Embrace what's inside the place that has died and make up your mind to survive

DIANNA: Catch me I'm falling. Falling. I'm falling.

NATALIE: Take a look. Take a look. The Invisible Girl, falling.

GABRIEL: I'm alive. I'm alive. Alive. Alive.

DAN: He's not here. Love, It's time to go. Oh!

Hope that helped. I actually had to look up lyrics for that cuz I got kind of confused to! :)

  • Every morning I wake up and am unsure if I really want to be awake I put on this song. It fills me with hope.

  • :( i doubt something like this would come to the west-end... far too gritty... but AGH what a story!! And with the music too?! Absolutly amazing...

  • Finally Got Tickets to see it this weekend :D

  • This is very Sweeney Todd-esque. I love it.

  • I love when Natalie comes in with the "She's not there" .. I got chills

  • Well obviously four people missed the like button, cuz this song has to be one of the deepest songs in a long time <3

  • this is utter bliss. happiness in a musical manner

  • I am so hoping this show comes to europe, when I was in New York with my father the show wasnt playing yet. A couple of weeks ago I heard the show was being translated to play in Holland, I so hoe thats true :D

  • I Love Catch Me am Falling, Great song

  • This song is so great, Catch me am falling is great i love the minor chords

  • His voice is so soothing.

This song is so eerie. I love it...it's chilling.

  • I love Gabe and Natalie in the background!!! The whole song is just spectacular!!! All of the songs are!!!! How I wish I could see the musical!!!!

  • "everything seemed to make sence when the baby came...untill..." :'(

  • You happen to be truly pretty, thank you for the movie. it can be unfortunate i'm located in Shorewood because i can not get hold of high-quality make-up, however, i get hold of totally free samples of makeup from 'Gratis Makeup Samples'. i adore Sally Hansen make-up!

  • is there anyway you could send this , im alive or im the one to me like via e-mail? let me know thanks ^.^

  • Man this is intense! I really want to see this musical!!

  • Wow!

  • Alright, when I saw this musical, all Act II and then end of Act I, I was balling. Absolutely crying my eyes out. I was all the way in the back, and they could hear me throughout the theater. It was a smaller theater but still, it was on Broadway and I was practically hyperventilating.

  • @Shika0My0Lazy0Ninja yeah that theatre is small so everyone would be able to hear you! when i saw it i was bawling to!! i felt bad for everyone around me ha well after because during the show i was too into it to care.

  • finally a musical that has heart and is real... i love it! every song penetrates your soul... it is like these songs can get right into your core. and it doesnt matter how dis-functional this family is! i know every single person in the world can relate to these characters in some way! its AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • I really like the chord progression in the chorus of the song and the harmonies at the end for "Catch me I'm falling".

  • I saw N2N on Sunday night (J. Robert Spencer's last show, and oh my goodness that man is going to be missed </3). I didn't think it was possible to love this song any more than I did, but I had goosebumps the entire time. The entire musical was genius and fantastic, of course, but this song in particular was just wonderfullll.

  • such a good song!!! The psychiatrist has such an awesome voice and just the power of this song just unbelievable

  • brother= dream role

  • Best song in the show. So moving. I love it.

  • Saw this musical in New york it was absolutely AMAZING!

  • SHIT... That 3 part harmony on " She's not theEEeERe!".... Priceless... Ridiculous...Insane....Beautiful....Amazing.... any more adjectives????

  • @NYConnor only one I can think of is....EPIC!

  • @NYConnor Fan-freakin'-tastic and wonderful!

  • I saw this in December and I was just blown away, finally a musical about reality and not just smiles and happy endings

  • Best Musical Ever (I've seen 700 shows over 30 years so I've seen a lot!). Finally, it got what it deserves, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. See this moving, magnificent show while you can!

  • I want to see this music so bad.

    This song gives me goosebumps.

Its like when i went to see Wicked, when they sung Defying Gravity.

    Gives you chills.

  • @2007Ballroom Saw this on Broadway in April. AMAZING. Cant even explain the electricity this musical creates. You should definitely get out to New York and see it!

  • by far the best harmonies in a longggggg time.

  • I love the harmony when they sing "You know" at the beginning..so beautiful.

  • I think this is the best part of this very brilliant score. The whole song is stunning. From the "catch me I'm falling" to Natalie's "He's not there" to Gabe adding in, the 3 part harmony there is brilliant. This song gives me chills every time.

  • 2:10 is the most amazing part of this song.

  • OMG i cant even say how much I freakin LOVE this musical! OMG AHHHH it brings tears to my eyes! I JUST LOVE IT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • my heart keeps melting every time i hear this.

  • *sigh* There's just something about the dissonance of 3:28 that makes me love this song.

  • oh. this is beautiful. I love the harmony and the haunting lyrics

  • such a spectacular pairing of songs. dr. madden's voice gives me chills in a good way.

  • GAH! THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG! The beat that sounds like a heart when they all sing "Catch me I'm falling" always sends chills up my spine. Anyone who ever says Next to Normal has no good music must have no sense of music. Enough "sunshiney rainbows" and have some musicals that really make you feel!

  • @FuturamaFanatic825 yes, the heartbeat is VERY powerful

"really make you feel" is an understatement... jesus this show brought up emotions i forgot i even had. cried basically from beginning to end!

  • @FuturamaFanatic825 I agree 100% with your comment! =D

  • @FuturamaFanatic825 AMEN. AMEN. AND AMEN.

  • @FuturamaFanatic825 My song 2...its hauntingly beautiful because its everyone's desperation point culminating into one chilling song. I mean seriously, if i didn't love the song, I'd cry from start to finish, and i love it so much I wouldn't want to listen to it when I'm sad because it'd have me over in a corner bawling b/c the song is raw emotions and when the heartbeat comes in--it takes you to heartbreak at the moment. Just an amazing song, its when you realized EVERYONE needed to heal.

  • @FuturamaFanatic825 such a wonderful cast, i hope i get the chance to see alice ripley live

  • One of the most intense songs of this musical. Gets me every time!

  • I wrote on my hands today "catch me" and "I'm falling"... got some weird looks, but it was worth it :)

  • lol i wrote the lyrics at the bak of my books in class evreybody gave me looks. LOVE THIS MUSICAL

  • hah... what if your book fell?

  • jeah i would make perfect sense. haha would'nt it

  • It would be asking you to catch it too!

  • what if you cought it then?!?!

  • haha I doodled "Catch me I'm falling" on my math homework during class and someone asked me, "Oh my god?! Are you okay?!" They thought I was depressed or suicidal XD Believe me, I've gotten weird looks

  • fuck.

this is one of the best compositions for musical theatre ever.

    it's so encompassing and fulfilling....

it gave me chills all over and left me with tears in my eyes.

  • this video is perfect. i love it!

  • This song gives me chills.

  • oh, God, me too...

  • :D thanks for explaining this. I am going to see this tommorow, i am so happy

  • third time in a row listening to this song

  • this song is so amazing and powerful I love all the harmonies, and the humming in the background! =D I just love it all!

  • the harmonies in this are gorgeous! I really want to see this!

  • oh my i love the harmonies at the end. so beautiful

  • when I saw this, I saw Kyle, and when he started singing "Catch me I'm falling" I was wondering how Jenn was singing without her mouth moving, then I realized it was him...

    I love this musical!

  • whats happening in this song?!

  • The man is a therapist attempting to deal with her troubles.

If you really want to know what's going on, you probably won't have the same reaction when you see the show. Look up the synopsis on Wikipedia if you wish.

  • Man, this song is so powerful. I love it.

  • Rush for the tickets, they're $25 for front row seats

The catch is you have to get there early like... dawn if not earlier...

However the catch is worth it. the show is AMAZING!

  • Does anyone know how much tickets would be for 3 people?

  • my favorite part is 2:46 to the end!

i love this show and this is one of my favorite songs!

  • me too!!!! :)

  • I'm completely in love with this musical

  • People who get to see this on Broadway are so freaking lucky!

I really like the song Growing up Unstable even though it's not actually on Broadway...

  • the tony performance was really good so now im trying to get into it..

    btw nice graverobber icon aha

  • Love it!! :D

  • I absolutely LOVE (3:26). This is one of many amazing songs in this show! So glad I got to see it in NYC - they were fantastic.

  • nooo, this actor named kyle dean massey -- very different guy. LOL disney channel kyle massey wouldn't make any sense.

  • this song just wraps me into it and intrigues the mind! wow...

  • i LOVE the part with the sounds of the heart pounding and the dramatic build up! this is such a good song!

  • o000mmg thats my favorite part
