  • Hello,I study in Europe and I wish to go to an American Univeristy which exam do you recommend? TOEFL or IELTS?

  • Dear Rebecca, thank you for this video, it helped me a lot!

  • Hello Rebecca,

I have got 94 in TOEFL iBT with 19 in reading, 22 in speaking, 26 in listening and 27 in writing.

So i am thinking of taking IELTS and need 6.0 with minimum of 5.5 in all bands. Can i get this score if i take IELTS?

    Please help me out.

  • @jayaprakash6 You can get above 7.0, maybe 8.0,believe me. IELTS is much more easier

  • I really liked the video. coz I'm about to take the TOEFLE and I was in doubt so Thank you.

  • Hello Miss Rebeca

When a Took the toelf exam, in writing section, i Wrote 300 words in the first essay, and almost 500 words in the second essay ,with more than 10 rare words, and my score was 21 . I think is really hard

  • thanks alot Rebecca, everyone was telling me IELTS was easier, but my hand writing is awful , and I struggle write essays by hand :) so im happy I am doing the TOEFL, you really are helping people get where they need to be :D

  • i think ielts is much more difficult than toefl

  • I want to ask that between these 2, which one is more common?

  • To TOEFL or not to IELTS , that is the question !

  • Muy útil la información y perfectamente comprensible a pesar de mi bajo nivel de inglés. Muchas gracias!

  • Hello!

I'm doing the toefl exam next week! I have some questions if you cans answer me.

In the reading part, can we change our answers and back?

In the listening part, when the lecture or the discussion is playing are we seeing the questions at the same time?

About the writing, in one task, we first have to read a passage and then listen to something about that passage. When we are answering, do we are allowed to see the passage?

    Thank you very much.

  • thank toy very much

  • Thanks a whole lot... very helpful.

  • Thank you so much for your time and patience, Rebecca! Just been taking TOEFL today. It's my 2nd time taking the exam. It's really challenging taking TOEFL, but also very enjoyable despite its length. The 4 hours at TOEFL really blew up my mind hehe :D

I thought of taking EILTS this time, but to me TOEFL has become so familiar that I decided to give it another try (and to score more points :)

Thank you so much for giving insight into the 2 exams. It's really encouraging too :)

  • I had both exams and i will give u my experience.IELTS is much better tan TOEFL as: 1-TOEFL is so long and you may lose your concentration and feel frustrated. 2-IELTS by Cambridge .so,you feel its more precious as it came from an academic body not a company.3-why should i listen and read in speaking and writing section while i have been already tested in these parts in other section as you may not be good at listening so why should i lose marks again.4-speaking in TOEFL makes u head over heals

  • @dfsmmatias

Regarding the reading exam: yes u can back and forward in the same section

Regarding the listening : you just listen and collect notes in the paper then answer when you see questions

Regarding the writing : you answer after you listen and read and you can see the reading passage while writing

I hope this answe satisfied you and wish you best of luck..

  • I need to know my English level, my accent is very good or so I've heard. Regarding Your video I understood about 100%, and about reading and writing, I think I can read better than I can write. I always read the news online,(in English of course), and I read lots of books. But while watching the "King of Queens", TV show, I didn't understand some phrases very well. I think it was because They were talking a little to fast for me to understand. It took me a couple of minutes to type this com

  • Thank you very much for your help in this matter, probably your video is the best answer for that question "TOEFL VS IELTS". Now I know that IELTS training is the one I need to do in order to develope and move on in my career life :). Thanks again for your help and support, I really appreciate the effort you put to help people to know the difference between these two exams. God bless you and wish you all the best in your life.

  • Thank you for clearing out a few things! Now I have to get to know if my prospective uni requires regular ielts or the general one :P although, I feel comfortable enough to write either of them

  • Thank you so much for the info! I'm planning to take TOEFL in a month :D

  • Can I have your e-mail?

  • Thanks a lot Rebecca.You are cute!

  • thank you..helped a lot...

  • please send more videos

  • Happy New Year to all of you. Thanks for watching and passing on your feedback. May you have a radiant year in 2010.

  • thank u

this very clear and enough to diffrentiate

  • Hello Miss Rebecca,

Can I use TOEFL for employment purposes? I'll take the exam next month but I don't review because my parents think I have a good shot at the exam and that I'm busy reviewing for another important exam. I read at lot and can communicate in english quite well. I'll just familiarize myself on what to expect in the exam. Wish me luck.

  • @moncarlotuazon

All the best to you. TOEFL is normally used for admission to university, but if an employer is familiar with the exam, then a good score would be an advantage.

  • As what I have understood.. TOEFL is more on detailed approach while IELTS is more on practical approach. Im still comfortable on TOEFL but I get more challenges in IELTS because some part of the lesson/drills are still somewhat new and fresh to me..in short.. i have to study harder in IELTS! God bless!

An awesome gratitude for you ma'am Rebecca!

    Cheers!

  • @teacherclaire

I wish you the best with your English. how wonderful that you want to do something more challenging.

  • happy new year Ma'am Rebecca !

    God speed!

  • Very clear voice and a great explanation ..Thank you very much ..It helped me a lot ... - Sri Lanka -

  • IELTS is British accent, and I think TOEFL is more useful and of course it is easier than IELTS, because it's American accent.

  • thank you a lot , for me tofel is a little bit easier . because lestining part is american accent and that's important thing for many student and me .

    thanks again ..

  • in asian countries ielts is more familiar than toefl for the students and staff are in a trend to do so.... for this reason we may say that students are bound to for ielts.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Hello mam...

plss tell me if i need 109 in toefl or 7.5 in ielts academic wch 1 will b easier to go for?

  • Hi Akshayiit

109 in TOEFL and 7.5 in IELTS are both high scores. There's no easy answer. Try to do a sample IELTS test and a sample TOEFL test and see what your scores are. You can work with some of the many guidebooks available for each of these exams to do a sample test.

That will help you decide which exam style you prefer and which one enables you to get higher marks.

    All the best to you!

  • thanks for your guidance mam!

  • Thanks to all for your kind feedback. It's nice to know.

  • Thank You Very Much

  • Thank you my teacher :)

  • hey rebecca how u doing ,

thanks you a lot for explaing the difrence between toefl and ielts ,my qustion is where do i find a toefl or ielts exam simple ?so i can test my self

  • You should try to get hold of one of the Cambridge IELTS examination papers. They have 4 full academic exams and 2 general exams in each book. The latest book is edition number 6 in that series.

There are also many other IELTS guidebooks published by Barron's and others which have practice tests.

You can also find practice tests online but be sure of the source.

    All the best to you!

  • Hi! what's the difference between "getting a hold of..." & "getting hold of..." ??

    Thanks!! :)

  • Thank you very much. I wonder if you make other videos talk about other exams such as SAT, TOEIC, ....

  • I will be recording some others like that too, mostly about English proficiency exams.

  • Thank you for posting, it was very usefull for me to understand the differencies between them.

  • Glad I could help you understand the differences.

  • Thank you, I'll watch it when I'm free!
