FreeNAS is bad compared to OpenMediaVault. While ZFS may sound nice, it is evil due to licensing. OMV is more advanced, linux powered, has support for all linux filesystems and very easy to set up. OMV is actually rewrite of Freenas.
I have an Athlon laptop from around 2004. I installed the latest Ubuntu and it doesn't have support for my wireless. Which distro would be best? I was thinking Puppy but I can't decide between Racy, Wary or vanilla.
@sneekylinux Not that it would matter, but I installed it. I had a wired connection and it couldn't find drivers for the wireless. It seems to be an Atheros card, but multiple modules were unsuccessful.
@MyNameIsBucket to be honest, never had that prob myself, but most wireless drivers are supported unless u are very unlucky, let me know how yo get on..
Bravo sneeky! Great man XD I'm with sneekyboy in that I ALSO use aptosid as my main distro! Yeah it hasen't given me any problems since I installed it like 6 months ago other then the Openshot problem that I had. But it's working now :) I really want to try Puppy and Tinycore now! Install them on a pen drive or sd card mate :)
ok lol i finish watching this video so to the right hand side i saw the word sneekylinux an i'm seeing a windows pc so i say to my self sneeky using windows now !!!! click on that video an it was the most sick person i ever heard like wth
Great collection of distros sneeky, And thanks for the heads up on Puppy and Wary....I have had them both running on an old Pentium machine that my brother was getting rid of and was really surprised an how stable and fast they both run...
Hey Sneeks cracking vid mate and nothing i can disagree with think you pretty much nailed it, your number 1 choice is spot on and now we have the pae kernels for the bigger ram machines its just untouchable, see you soon mate for another wicked Icy Comment........giggle.
Always look forward to your reviews mate, thanks for your vids. Really want Haiku to get out of alpha stage before I install, very interesting though.
here's my tip for installing austrumi: install it twice! I have no idea why, but for some reason the installer works perfectly after it has crashed the first time. Hope this helps
Have you tried elementary os? That and crunchbang are probably my favourite alternative distro. Austrumi looks interesting. Thanks for the vids, great channell, top stuff!
@MrLgie +1 for CrunchBang. I triple boot Linux Mint 12, CrunchBang 10 Statler and Linux Mint Debian. I've been using CrunchBang for about 6 months now and really like it a lot. Lightweight, fast and very stable!!
@HiddenAbilities hey mate, i do this because i want to, not for anything else, extra viewers would be nice and doing mainstream distro's would get me there, but i love these smaller and more obscure one,s as sometimes you see a lot more innovation.
