  • is there a way to manually double bed e-wrap on a Passap? i usually end up doing a tubular cast-on, but i'd like to know whether or not a wrapping method exists.

  • @batmanandbobbin..... You could try doing a cast on in WY for the needle set up you want. Then do a circular row with ravel cord (important so you can pull the ravel cord out later). Then do a loose ewrap in the hooks. I'm concerned about trying this, as the japanese machines have a hard time knitting that first row, and without being able to pull n's all the way out, I really don't know if it will work. Knitting off that first row manually might be necessary. Let me know how it works! :) TWD

  • @batmanandbobbin ...I should add, that after casting on in WY, knit several rows. Then knit the circular row with ravel cord, then pick up your main yarn and do the ewrap, etc.

  • Great video. Well done. Can you recommend a double knitting wool (preferably machine washable) for a Brother KH 270 and KR 260 ribber. I am looking for a brand with a wide range of colours. Thanks.

  • Thanks. The books with the ribber don't show it as a video does!

  • Thank you so very much! I have been having struggling to get a nice edge on a rib:))) Do you know if there a way to cast on with a waste yarn?

  • Super!! Can you do an e-wrap cast off?? I would love to see that done. Thx

  • Fabulous video and brilliant technique. This is one I must try. Thank you so much.

    Christine

  • Great job with the video, and the pace is just right. I only bought my Brother 965i a few days ago, and am very glad you have posted these.

  • Thank you so much for doing these videos. It is so helpful to have an experienced MK'er demonstrate these techniques! It is hard to find local knitters who can teach us newbies! Great job!!!

  • Hi,

I would recommend any books by Mary Anne Oger, Mary Weaver and Tami Nobuyuki. Knitwords magazine is also full of great patterns and articles. Have fun with your knitting! TWD :)

  • Thank you for your recommendation!!

    Happy new year~

  • Thank you so much for great video.

The book you recommended look very nice.

Could you tell me other your favorite books?

  • Can you show me how to hang the comb? I am new. Then the second row what is the needle position? I can not hear you well. Thanks

  • Hi! Center the comb beneath the beds and with the comb wire removed (not all the way, just enough to clear the comb teeth that will be used) push the comb up so that it goes through the knitting and is above the needles in work. Then replace the wire, pull the comb down slightly and hang weight(s). For the next row, push all needles in work out to E(D) and knit across. After that, it is helpful to put the end needles on both beds, carriage side to E(D) before knitting each row. Hope this helps!

  • So here's my question - how do I move the ribbing up to the main bed? Do I have to put it all on waste yarn and put each loop on the main bed? Or do I take the two loops off the ribber and put it on the one needle in between on the main bed? Thanks for your help.

  • Hi HugKing,(part 1)

Did you get an SRP-50 manual with your ribber? The instructions about how to transfer are on page 19. If you don't have a manual, send me an eamil and I will get one to you.

Here is how you do the transfer, and you will need a 'double-eye transfer tool' (which looks like a long needle that has an eye on both ends):

Set your ribber to 'P'. Now your ribber needles will be directly opposite your mainbed needles. Bring the empty needles on your mainbed to work position.

  • (part 2)

With the double-eye transfer tool, just transfer your stitches up to the mainbed. Some needles will end up having 2 stitches on them, while others will have only one stitch. That is how it should be.

    Hope this helps!

  • I just got my ribber yesterday and Susan from UK pointed me to this video. Thank you so much. I was wondering about how to do a better cast-on. I got it the first try thanks to you!

  • That's great! I'm glad it was helpful to you :)

  • Another great video! I have not tried this method, so I'm really looking forward to trying this.

  • Thank you again! I'm so glad you found this helpful! Let me know how it goes :)
