  • When you do the part at 6:44 with the properties->build->Mannually set UCC Directory

I dont have that option in the build tab

  • @peosisin88

“Manually set UCC directory” option will be available if you select under target game “UnrealEngine 3 mod”. Unless you missed another step way back, it should work fine after this.

  • @nanco27

    Hey Nanco,

I'm having the same problem as Peosisin, but I'm not using the Pro suite like you are. Do you know if this could lead to troubles down the road? BTW, what does that step really do? Does it allow MVS to activate IntelliSense?

  • @Salmontres Hi Salmontres, Honestly I don’t think its because the pro version of MVS, remember I mentioned on the beginning of the video I was trying this almost for a whole day to make this thing work At this point I suggest : 1-“remove” MVS and nfringe 2- clean your basket (Recycle Bin) 3-reboot PC 4-Install MVS and nfringe p.s. Also there is article; YouTube does not let me post links, so search Google for: “IntelliSense and Class View are not working for UnrealScript (at all)”
  • @nanco27

    To Salmontres,

One more thing I want to say…

When dealing with a software that is constantly changing, it is better to have the setup done before creating the game, and “most of the time” not upgrading it until you have the game accomplished, I know you may miss newer technology but I am very caution when doing that.

I am only saying this because sometimes we get “drowned” into configurations and the “game” never gets done.

  • @nanco27

Thank you for the quick and very informative reply. I'm not a game developer but a platform dev, and not upgrading technology is generally the same strategy when developing big code bases throughout.

As it turns out, "Manually Setting UCC Directory" option has been removed from newer editions of nFringe to simplify the startup process, that's why I wasn't seeing it.

Again, thanks for these awesome vids, I'm wrapping this up now.

  • @Salmontres

Hey no problem, thanks for sharing that, I am sure someone else will ask about that in here, and I didn't know they changed that in the new version.

    wrapped

  • @peosisin88

Have you resolved this? I'm having the same problem now. I'm not using MVS Pro like OP uses, I'm using the free Express 2010 running in the 2008 shell. (As described in the nFringe Wiki.)

Is this what you're doing as well?

  • Intellisense works, but not auto-complete ... ?

  • @BRSZell

Once intelisense gives you options to choose, select the one you want and Just press tab so the auto complete will take it from there.

  • @BRSZell

What are you trying to auto-complete? It seems to be working for me... (MVS Academic Pro 2010 with nFringe 1.1.34)

  • maybe i am missing something, but ive looked through these comments and cant see anything

    - and i remember this happend before when i tried doing this.

I havent got 'Target Game' under properties. Also, when i start a new project I 'only' have Unreal 3 License Project, none of the other files, ie "Unreal 3 Mod" etc...

    what have i missed ?

  • Make sure you watch video 2 of 2 please. Most of the process is accomplished in video 1 of 2, but there is still important information on video 2.

It is actually funny, when you look the view counts for video 1 and 2.

Video 2 is just as important as video 1, but it has less than 1/2 of the view counts.

Another advice, follow the process slow, make sure you covered all steps before moving forward.

It is easier to do that than going back in and try to find out which step you missed.

  • I've been trying to follow this video but the *Game* area under the "General" tab and the *Script Output* under the "Build" tab do not exist. I've downloaded nfringe as well.

    Please help? =(

  • Thanks for making this video! It was really helpful in setting up my first project.

  • @christoferpadilla

    Hey, no problem dude :)

I am glad I could help

  • my vs2010 does neither highlight the text nor does it give autocompletions.

    How to solve that?

  • @ggoddogg

    Hi ggoddogg ,

Make sure you are following step by step and restarting Visual Studio after each time (as necessary).

VS2010 needs to know where some files are before the intelisense works, and it needs to know that at startup.

  • @nanco27

Im sry, but it was my own mistake, i didnt reged the nFrige :/

    fixed now

  • HI dude, I'm brazilian too can we speak in portuguese later? My output don't bring this result to me, only this:

------ Build started: Project: MyGame, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------

    ========== Build: 1 succeeded or up-to-date, 0 failed, 0 skipped ==========

I builded MyGame then I builded the solution.

  • @felixozium

    E ai felixozium, beleza cara?

Nos podemos conversar em portugues sim, o seu “compilation output” nao esta dando nenhum erro! (no error).

  • @nanco27 opa \o/ .. me add no msn ctdecaes@hotmail.com

  • @felixozium

  • This was a really great help, lots of people in my school used this tutorial. Via this post I want to thank you =D

  • @mrgelmir

    Hi mrgelmir,

I am glad this was useful. That was the primary intention for this video, to help my classmates during the course. So far UDK is still one of the best middleware out there.

  • For some reason I do not have a "Script Outputs" section to modify. I am using VS 2008 with Nfringe...Any ideas??

  • @Pawnz2

    Hi Pawnz2,

The solution came from two comments: one is in this discussion below, and the second part is from the comments on the second video 2 of 2

This is a comment from “@jojo60rules

@jojo60rules Hopefully you figured it out already, in any case this will be for anyone else who needs it. The problem is the "Start with specified game type:" It cannot be "MyGame", it has to be whatever you named the folder (in this case Jugo.. so Jugo.MyGameInfo). I did this and it works for me.

  • @nanco27 Yes, that makes sense, I see it now, thanks.

  • I created the game AND THEN he told me to uncheck the directory box.. GARGHH >.<

  • No Problems! Finally!! Thank you much!! It works also with UDK 2011-06! :) Good job!

  • For some reason when I go to properties and build I do not see the script output option. Does anybody know why?

  • @IIzjay87II - so on the nFringe site, if you have installed release 1.1.34.193 under bugs fixed, it states one of the big changes is: " Simplify project configuration by removing the "Manually Set UCC Output Directory" option "

  • @IIzjay87II - so on the nFringe site, if you have installed release 1.1.34.193 under bugs fixed, it states one of the big changes is: " Simplify project configuration by removing the "Manually Set UCC Output Directory" option "

don't worry - keep following nanco27's tutorial - everything works out fine :)

  • For some reason when I go to properties and build I do not see the script output option. Does anybody know why?

  • Does anybody know why there is no script output under properties and build. It doesn't appear in my VS

  • That's what i did and still no luck. But i went on with the rest of the tutorial and it did rewrite the scripts to the right location so i guess i didn't need it after all

  • hi

why did you have so many builds in your output?

The only thing i get is:

------ Erstellen gestartet: Projekt: TheGame, Konfiguration: Debug Win32 ------

    ========== Build: 1 erfolgreich oder aktuell, Fehler bei 0, 0 übersprungen ==========

and my hand writen script elements dosn't apear in the UDK Editor

    what i have done wrong?

  • @T1000the

    Hi T1000the,

At 09:10 shows the output script files confirmation

The files been compiled are standard necessary files for the functionality of the engine:

Engine, GFxUI, GameFramework, UnrealEd, GFxUIEditor, IpOrv, OnlineSubsystemPC, UDKBase, UTEditor, UTGame, UTGameContent.

Watch the second video: “Compile Unreal Script with Visual Studio 2010 (Part 2 of 2)” for the instructions on how to add the script files to the proper directory.

    Hope this helps

  • @nanco27 Ok the Problem was that i have forget to modyfi the UDKEngine.ini . And the fact that i am not get the complet Compieler Log. Thanks for your help.

  • @T1000the

    no problema : )

  • thank you nancoman

  • I think the new version of infringe has script output directory removed because I have 2008 and 2010 of visual studio and there's is no script output on both vs versions.

  • @jerrycasian i have the same problem. i've reinstalled everything several times and that still odesn't show up. and i don't know if it's needed or not but it's in every video i've seen and i can't seem to find it.

  • @immortalsoul901

Ok, I think I know what you are doing wrong, you have to select “UnrealEngine 3 Licensee Project” at the beginning of the project, then later on under Project Properties select “UnrealEngine 3 Mod”.

Take a look at time 04:35

The reference source path will only be available if you select “UnrealEngine 3” Mod at this point

  • on VisualStudio 2008, under build I don't have Script Output (!?)

  • I haven’t tried the nFringe plug in on VS 2008, but if it is showing the options to create unreal scripts on the beginning when you select what type of project you want, it should work fine.

The Scripts are automatic generated inside the directory:

    C:\UDK\UDK-2010-10\UDKGame\Scripts

When you watch the video move the time to 6:30, you will see the directory path for the scripts (scripts output)

All you have to do is click build solution (under build menu tab) or simply press F7

  • Very nice, Eduardo. As one of your fellow classmates, I really appreciate you taking the time to create this video. It was extremely helpful!

  • @nyblzz

    No prob Dude : )

  • Very useful, thanks.
