need to restore iphone 4s as it got the usb cable and arrow pointing to itunes. followed your video downloaded the firmware i need, then done shift and clicked restore. then it extracts the software but after that it comes up with error 1604, ive follwed the 1604 steps on itunes and it still got usb cable and arrow pointing to itunes. plug it into laptop b and it comes up with the restore page again. just going round and round in circles getting no where. thanks

@vatrica1 I am not sure what situation you are having with encryption of the backup, however you should be able to disable or enable that on the first screen in iTunes for your iPhone (the Summary screen). If you don't know the password to that encrypted backup, you might not be able to restore to that backup and will have to start fresh after the restore. If you are able to restore from the backup after the restore, your device should be exactly as it was before (except without jailbreak, etc).

Good vid but there is another vid, I forgot where I saw it but you didn't have to download any firmware. You can just boot into DFU mode and click restore on iTunes and the click "Restore as new iPhone" for the option. And it will basically reformat it to make it like a brand new iPhone out of the box.

I don't know what to do, i tried updating my Iphone 3g using whited00r, and it worked but my music and photos dint sync only my apps did, even though as soon as i connect my phone , itunes says its syncing.......it keeps saying error cannot restore..please help!!!

if you backup your phone WITH the old jailbreak data still on it and then restore it from the most recent backup will the old jailbreak files get put back on your device?

Just click jailbreak again on the redsnow program. I did it cuz I had nothin else to loose and was desperate and had error 21 too. It basically woke my phone up and everything was normal

Good vid but there is another vid, I forgot where I saw it but you didn't have to download any firmware. You can just boot into DFU mode and click restore on iTunes and the click "Restore as new iPhone" for the option. And it will basically reformat it to make it like a brand new iPhone out of the box.
