  • America boasts a hell of a lot! They'll never make it past the qualifiers, and to be honest they really should leave rugby to real men

  • Wow ! Nice video ! But how big is the USA community ? Not that much it seems. By the way, if you want to defend USA in the rugby field, you may start online ! It may raise interest about rugby in the USA. There are about 60 managers from the USA on an excellent rugby manager game called RugbyMania and the USA's national team ranks 11th out of 32, come on to fight for your country ! ;)

  • WTF like they will ever beat the ALL BLACKS!! NZ is the best!

  • @joshebizonline Josh,Baseball is copied from rounders not cricket sorry josh & Nascar is from illegal bootleging

  • I think Rugby not being popular in the States shows that they don't dislike Soccer because it's non-contact but because they hate sports they can get hammered at by other countries, that's why they only play team sports between each other. If they were that concerned with being 'manly' surely Rugby would take priority over NFL,Basketball and Baseball.

  • @DustyAndPistolPete Thats just a bunch of made up crap, dude. Rugby and soccer are just not popular here simply because they just are not popular. We like our sports and seems the rest of the world hates the fact that we went another direction in what we play and make stuff up like you just did to put us down. Manly? Boxing is popular in the u.s and now its being taken over by mma, and whats more manly then that? But we have both rugby and soccer teams so we still play.

  • @91gt306 I was talking about team sports.Maybe I was a bit harsh...but I do think that Americans would be more interested in them if they were competing better at them internationally.

  • @DustyAndPistolPete Ok, I apologize for my harsh comment. You are right its very possible that the U.S would embrace rugby more if we had a little more success, unfortunately kids are more prone to want to become the next nba,nfl or mlb star.

  • As an America rugby player I find it disheartening when I pass someone and overhear them saying "Rugby, is that the game they play on horses?"haha

  • I think rugby will pick up again in the states,,, our version of football evolved from it and replaced it, Two very different games, The athletes are the same with the exception that Rugby is more cardio. as far as athletes cross over from one sport to another the only exception would be that NFL linemen do not have the cardio to play any position in Rugby. t

That being said the Average Rubgy Forward would get smashed trying to do an NFL lineman's job. Lineman are 280-325 pounds ,

  • USA has 2 Gold Medals in rugby! However, it was in 1920 and 1924! Bring it back in 2016, ha!

  • For God's sakes. America definitely has the tools to create amazing rugby players. I'm an Australian and I was impressed with the Eagles performance.

One small question. And you guys please create some sort of competition with Canada and Argentina. It doesn't make sense for Argentina to have to travel half way across the world for test matches. The time zones aren't as different. Plus with you all get more exposure to test rugby. Could be the Americas Tri-Nations.

  • @capowable it will just take a while for rugby to hit the mainstream stage. Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, track, swimming, wrestling, tennis, hell squash is more known to most americans than rugby. Whenever i meet people and they find out i play rugby I have to explain to them what it is. It'll take years but hopefully some day it will become a common enough thing - hopefully big enough to do a western hemisphere version of the trinations

  • I prefer see Americans playing rugby than playing Football .

Sorry for my english , and want to see American in RWC more often.

    Hi from France

  • @popbarry I am an American, and I play rugby at my school, and I agree with you, Americans should play more rugby.

    Hi from California!

  • One day we can win against the All Blacks? Get in line USA! that means you would have to beat South Africa and OZ first! There wouldn't be much left after those 2 i tell ya!

  • @rugbygirl34 Focus on trying to beat Canada first

  • @mboofas i dont understand? are you saying USA should focus on beating Canada, thats what your saying isn't it?

  • @rugbygirl34 Yup. Its pointless going after the top teams when you cant beat lower ranking teams.

  • @rugbygirl34 Yes you are so right, and i dont mean it like "we're the best team you can't beat us eva cause we're the best" i mean like we have worked our way up for 120 years so they have a long way to go, and sorry we are the best team, World Champions! (finally)

  • and win....BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHA

  • no

  • I'm from New Zealand, and i'm pretty sure that if the USA were as obsessed about rugby as they are American Football, that they would absolutely obliterate the rest of the world at it. The NFL consist of some of the best athletes in the world, and with a bit of technique, they could be great at Union.

  • @BrookTank i think "obliterate the rest of the world" is a bit of a far stretched statement mate, in other words your saying anything the yanks become obsessed with they will win at?

  • @BrookTank If those NFL powerhouses tried to last 80 minutes of intense rugby they'd die (literally). Even if those american's got their fitness levels similar to that of international rugby players, their strength levels would also go down by some margin.

A game of rugby is not won by the team that collectively has the best bench press figures..

  • how many people in the usa actually play or even know what rugby is?

  • @SmellyFatTraveller

    Registered players

    88,151 (total)

    47,503 (adult)

    40,648 (junior)

    Clubs 2433 [1]

source: wikipedia, Rugby union in the United States

so those are the numbers for sure not counting the fans

  • @lubetoob1 thats way more than i expected, theres 153,080 players in Ireland so usa isn't that far behind

  • Did the Promo just say that they plan to beat the All Blacks??? HAHAHAHA! Maybe in the next 10 years and when they recruit from New Zealand and the Islands for players then MAYBE they can put up a fight, but til then, there is no way they will last against the AB's.

  • @hazza3 it said that it is a goal, it isnt saying we are going to.

  • @andrewthewin Oh ok, well if its a goal then that is something to think about.

  • @NobleTwoSeven Americans like to bring up how they saved Europe, Europeans like to bring up how the Americans didn't do a thing until the end when it was Britain and France who did all the fighting and Russia who won the war.

Also, if it wasn't for Europe, specifically France, there would be no America to begin with :).

  • "the game played in heaven" hahaha hell yea

  • I would love to see rugby become popular in America. They have the potential to do so much for the sport. If you look at the amount of effort invested in America's National sports, both on promotion and player development, if this was directed at rugby, both globally and nationally they could bring a huge amount to what is already a great sport. Oh, and to Haters on both sides of the NFL v Rugby argument, just grow up. Do you seriously think players of either sport sit and bitch about the other

  • Cool Promo

  • Rofl I'd love to see an nfl all star like Adrian Peterson or Patrick Wilson crush in the world cup... But sadly they don't give a fuck about rugby. IF the U.S. cared about rugby or soccer at all theyd dominate. Read up on some stats before you speak

  • ireland won against usa suck on that us so FFFFUUUUUCCCCCKKKK UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUU.SSSSS.AAAAAA!!!!"!!!!

  • hahah use got trashed v ireland teday

  • @Michaelslash09 Yes. Notwithstanding the fact that rugby isn't the main sport in the US, it's funny that a nation of nearly 300,000,000 gets whipped by a nation of 6,000,000.

  • @adamclark1972uk Although to be fair, the USA are ranked 18th in the world, so they're not that bad.

  • If the Americans could play rugby they wouldn't have never had to have invented "American Football", i.e. rugby for big girl's blouses

If their part time "national team" ever meets the Springboks, Aussies or the All Blacks they'll be 15 dead Americans on the pitch.

  • @kcirdrab Clearly, you have never played American football. As I have seen many a conscusions, broken bones, and other gruesome hits. We don't grow up playing rugby like ya'll do, so it'd be stupid to think that we would have the same playing ability. It is quickly becoming more and more popular in the states. So when we grow up playing like ya'll do, then we will see who is dominating who...

  • @BodybuildinginTX ... I wouldn't have agreed with u .... until I saw Emerick score that try against the Micks on Sunday!

Maybe some of u can play a game for men! ; )

  • @kcirdrab i'm really wierded out that a guy just winked at me...

  • @BodybuildinginTX ... well, u know what they say about us English public school boys : D

In this situation tho it was meant in a chummy way ... not a "come & get some of this" way .... along with Rugby 1 day you colonials might get the hang of conversational nuances too

  • @kcirdrab Actually i have no idea what they say about yall, but alright. Colonials? Are yall really still bitter we wiped the flooor with yall all those years ago? In America guys don't wink at other guys... well not in Texas, maybe California or New York...

  • @BodybuildinginTX Well, I don't think we're that chuffed about being stabbed in the back while we were fighting a war with France

As for floor wiping, check a good book on the revolution, Team Red did most of the wiping whilst the revolutionaries did the flooring (& then terrorized into submission large numbers of their neighbours who disagreed with them via the services of people like "Judge" Lynch).

I'm not from Texas, maybe u could learn something from England/NY/Cali, like a sense of humour

  • @kcirdrab Ya'll most certainly were not currently fighting the French when the war broke out. The French aided us, primarily in the naval side of the war. We had no trained army at the time, only a vague militia. We actually lost about a third less men than yall did, but if you don't call that a substantial difference, check these numbers out. American population a little over 2,000,000. Population of London alone at the time was over one million. We literally did not have a navy and still won.

  • USA are never taking on the all blacks ... They might need to win a game first.

  • If rugby becomes huge in the US with massive sponsors etc, I really do think that they could become a challenge for the WC. Alot of people will do anything for money and NZ can't really compete with that. *shrugs.

  • sorry i keep saying this but i just love americans that play rugby ;)

  • USA beat NZ o.O HA NOT A CHANCE IN THE WORLD. Made for USA o.O UNBELIEVABLE. the person who scripted this must've licked a toad

  • @MrRoflcopterfromHELL haha so true haha, funny as ad.

  • Nice Ad, go USA! Welcome to NZ!

  • Great vid! Soo true. Except USA will never ever be able to beat the All Blacks. LOL.

Rugby is way better than any other sport. Tried to watch your American Football but good god is it long and boring. Rugby is very fast pace and exciting :) Go the ALL BLACKS (RWC 2011).

  • @ac35ta23 I agree. Coming from the US I would say the NFL is not what you call non stop. Only in North America is where it's at its peak in popularity, but I for one think its nothing compared to Rugby. As for the Eagles Vs. the All Blacks, however...well dude, you never know..LOL. Great country NZ is though.

  • When the USA will go up against the NZ All Blacks ... and win

     What century is this again?

  • Ahhh lovely video, shitting on the Aussies as always, C'MON ENGLAND!

  • Hahaha can't wait til australia puts 80 points on usa in there pool match :p

  • i would love to see the usa get into rugby like we do in nz. only problem is it seems to be a sport for the rich just like in england, so the real natural talent in the high schools wont get a chance to try the best game on earth. can you imagine guys like the shaq playing? hell! i would love to go to compton high and start a team. rugby league too

  • Th eonly usa game worth watching is basket ball.. Nfl copied rugby. Baseball copied cricket. Nascar is a dumb reinactment of f1 and dont get me started with pro wrestling......

  • @joshebizonline Josh, Basketball was invented by a Rugby Coach who was looking for an indoor activity for his players...

  • @jkurtweaver okay thats smthing i never heard of .....

  • @jkurtweaver He was NOT a "Rugby" coach. He was a Physical Education INSTRUCTOR. Look up the games history and the man himself. I dont knnow where you got that nonsense from.

  • @jkurtweaver an the NFL is the barstard son of rugby, and the American eagles are the current Olympic gold medalist ( two of them in fact )

  • @jkurtweaver who wasn't even american..let' precise on that as well :P

  • @jkurtweaver Actually it was invented by a wrestling coach

  • @joshebizonline baseball is harder than cricket

  • @MrBaddestofthebad maybe - depending on the player, I Personally find Cricket harder than baseball. Cuz baseball is pretty Easy ( the ball doesnt Spin on the ground and Change direction ) so ya its an OPINION

  • @joshebizonline well baseball you cant even see the ball the last 15 feet before it gets to you.

  • @joshebizonline What about Volleyball. Also an american sport.

  • @joshebizonline legend

  • @joshebizonline pro wrestling isnt a real sport. Look up college wrestling, a video like metcalf vs caldwell. i got no beef with rugby but dont bag on american sports

  • @joshebizonline get this baseball,NFL,pro wrestling is entertaining just saying

  • @joshebizonline Lol sounds like something you and your buddies came up with when trying to keep from feeling inadequate. Sorry, americans aren't a bunch of followers.

  • I like rugby because of beer

  • USA have no chance in the rugby world cup this year. their starting pool has Australia, Ireland and italy in it. they have no chance :)

  • 2 people play soccer

  • Why are we showing America this stupid sport ? ... We should be showing them RUGBY LEAGUE!

  • I guess it is a tough order to promote Rugby in the U.S when the top 5 team sporting bodies the NFL,NBA,NHL,MLB, and MLS take to cream of the sporting talent. which leave the rest to consider different sporting codes. To my understanding Rugby is only played in the top end private schools alot like the U.K used to be.but it is great to see alot of local clubs starting to form and compete in states around the U.S. The Rugby W Cup is the 3rd largest sporting event only to Fifa WC and Olympics.

  • @MrDnile actually the assumption of only the high end private schools in the US playing Rugby is false. Most of these schools are the American Football powerhouses. These schools want nothing to do with Rugby because it would steal football players away because it is way more fun, as it did to me and the football coaches were not very happy.. Most high school rugby teams do not have any affiliation with the school. US has tons of Mens and College teams, but a very small high school age group

  • @tomahawking Thanks for you insight and thoughts about this. Interesting what you said about that' most Highschools rugby teams have no affilation with the school', which is a real shame, Im from New Zealand and a large core of the Rugby talent here comes from High School 1st XV a high profile team within the school system. From here it leads onto Club and Rep Honors. Funny a Nation like NZ of just over 4 million can produce a strong base of talented players..

  • this part cracks me up

0:39, RUGBY, THE GAME FOR AMERICA

    fuck off

go put some pads on and give eachother brain damage

  • Awesome Promotional Rugby Video ....Good luck USA in the Rugby World Cup.....The All Blacks will win the 2011 Rugby World Cup........Go the Mighty All Blacks

  • huh lol.."when one day we will play in the world cup, and face the New Zealand All Blacks and win"........ really... really

  • fuck off usa vs all blacks. usa win no .

  • Ah the halo announcer that's where I know that guys voice

  • @ rugbytexan1 I would like to the USA try and dominate the mighty all blacks, the best team in the world. Your dreaming mate

  • they'll never make it there just rich

  • If it's made for America then why are they shit at it?

  • America, we have the talent to dominate, I just wish everyone would see what a great sport it is! If we did we could take this sport over.

  • Haha America facing the NZ All blacks? Pfft thats a joke.

The US can't even make it to the quarters the rugby world cup!

  • USA vs All Blacks? haha yeah right! All Blacks are gonna KILL them!

  • so their gonna beat the all black...good luck with that

  • i hope rugby picks up in USA, because when us aussies play them and smash them it will be even sweeter.

  • ive never seen this on tv and my tv is ALWAYS on a sports channel.

  • @kemoblue4u its because its an older commercial it was like from 2004 bro

  • I'm Irish and I would love to see the USA take rugby into their hearts , it would be great for the sport and America . Our ex coach eddie o Sullivan is now coaching USA . He's a fine coach and a good man . I hope the USA do well in the upcoming world cup , but not too well , we re playing them ha ha

  • @devoymoe i play rugby at my college here in the us and its a great sport. i love it....but luckily it is slowly becoming more popular here....so in the next 20 years or so you will see a huge change

  • I think what the video is doing by showing the other countries is saying: hey look at these bad ass rugby countries! look what they are doing.. if we pull our head out of our ass we can play this sport because we have the ingredients to be the best: diversity, speed, skill..etc we just have it all spread out among different sports if we can combine everything we would be the best.. which is true just takes time.. this is like a rugby 101 recruitment add for the us

  • bout bloody time America

  • Wel I gues it's good to see the game promoted in the USA but as if they cld take on the allblacks we are hundreds of years ahead and the best in the world it's like saying newzealand could beat USA in grid iron haha no chance bud go the mighty allblacks this year is our year to shine

  • @in4mis1234 It is beyond imagination almost that New Zealand could ever beat USA at Grid Iron, no mater what effort they put into it. However, were the americans to make a go of it, it wouldnt be suprising if they became good before too long.

  • JASON ROBINSONNNNNN

  • Rugby- the last great team sport!

  • Argentina!!! Rulez!

  • There's no individuality in rugby, it's all teamwork. And it'd take years (hundreds maybe) for USA to beat one of the rugby titans like NZ.

  • Come on americans.... you know you cant deny it. it is the best sport around :)

  • @murphman300 .......sure as an American football player and rugby player. I won't admit rugby is better but I definitely prefer football due to the velocity and collisions. However, to say which sport is better is entirely subjective.

  • @murphman300 Definitely one of the most challenging :) and one of the most fun to play

  • "made for america".....oh god i just died

  • Hahahahaha USA eagals how about stop making gay fucking names for your teams like minisota magets wtf USA will never make it they dont have what it takes the british empior has been playing it for 300 years dont think you can just start now lol

  • 1 person likes American football lol

  • @XKELL0GGSX I like both sports. Both have their pros and cons. However, I did not dislike this video.

  • well done lads. good see USA is getting more into the rugby these days. im from wales and moving to california for a while. hoping to join a club over there and enjoy mixing it up with the local lads. Cymru am Byth - cmon wales 2011!!!!

  • You will never win you cant handle the world cup.

  • @Torontoswimming More of a chance to win against SA i guess

  • I always see players sliding when they go for tris (tries? never knew the correct spelling). Do they have to or can you just get over the line?

  • @datKidwilliaM you have to put the ball on the ground over the line so people slide as it reduces the chances of getting tackled, however you can walk over it and put it down (not like in NFL where they like throw it lol)

  • @philbuul thanks lol that part always confused me.

  • @Torontoswimming either or, itd still make the US more recognized to the world in the game of rugby. Pretty awesome though how since the last RWC how much rugby has grown in the USA. Cant wait to watch the games this summer.

  • Rugby is a unit. Move as one. This game personifies true American grit better than their American Football does. Its a culture rivaled by no other, if you're a rugby player anywhere on Gods green earth, then you are family, belive that!

  • There is no individuality in rugby. pure team sport

  • lol lol

  • his dream will never be a reality

  • most of this was filmed in Australia

  • If the USA wanted too they could be one of the best in the world at rugby. Its an amazing game to watch with an amazing culture behind it.

  • THATS WAS GREAT TILL 1:30

try beat the 15 ranked countries between you and the all blacks first.

  • @hopoi yer but theres only like 4 really good teams England, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa the rest are a bit too inconsistent or no where near as good tbh

  • @JamesCunnyy very ture'

dont get me wrong. USA is great. believe it or not. In about 3 years i could even be playing for the eagles.

But dont forget WALES, FRANCE, IRELAND.

  • lmao! @ 0:36

a game that stretches beyond the field? you play in the crowd? lmao.

i have played rugby for 12 years and im only 17 and i have never played in the crowd.

What a piece of shit xD

  • if it wasnt for the NFL America would wreck everybody.....

  • @Dkelly160 have you seen the all blacks. mate, they would knock you out.

  • @mr9396 have you seen the Pittsburgh Steelers.....all that wasted talent on (american)football when it really comes down to it

  • @mr9396 Even with the all blacks in mind, If you've ever seen Jerome Bettis, Ray Lewis, Julius Peppers, Troy Polamalu, or better yet William "Refrigerator" Perry, I doubt you would be saying that sincerely.

  • I am going to transform the game.

  • Americas rugby is growing just wait, a few years ago ive never heard about it, now im playin and going to compete in the college tournament in vegas, big schools are givin sholars out now, just give it time and we will be there.

  • is it just me or is that screen green?

  • hi guys this is beach rugby

  • good to see a promotional video tht shows England shitting on Australia

  • @thirdlegUK yea cause that isnt seen often anymore

  • @thirdlegUK Good to know that barely ever happens though

  • @thirdlegUK go fuck yourself dick

  • @thirdlegUK haha funny fuker, aus has beaten england more times and same amount of times in rwc

  • First things first!!.....American needs a pan american game. Canada, mexico, chile, uraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and any other american country who wants to play. That would be soooooo cool, 2 divisions. america canada and argentina of course would be with one other team with second division team playing for 1st division spots. Then you could have a north vs south game etc....think about it

  • @petnzme01 would be sweet, but isnt argentina like 10 times better then any other american team?

  • HAHA seriously imagine AMERICANS playing rugby lol

  • @R4GEAG41NSTTH3M4CH1N and we are good

  • @R4GEAG41NSTTH3M4CH1N We were unstoppable in the 20's, look it up.

  • @maybrook1 When it was played by English immigrants...

  • @R4GEAG41NSTTH3M4CH1N LOL, fuckit man, goin over there an playin rugby 4 US wud be too easy!!!

  • FIJI RUGBY RULEZ

  • I heard rugby is the fastest growing sport in the US - thats good to hear.Once they get good at the sport, i can imagine them having a similar playing style to New Zealand.

  • @SouthStags88 nah man that'd be lacrosse

  • 99% of the american don't what is rugby? no?

  • @lley78 thats rediculous more like 20% of americans dont no what rugby is....and there dumb

  • usa will be contenders in 15-20 years.

  • @MH721 I hope so, be good to see the USA become a real contender in the sport;like Argentina and Italy.

  • did you know the ONLY ball sport america invented was basket ball! ..... FACT!

  • @TheNickNacker actually, basketball was invented in Canada. you guys did technicaly create American and Collegiate football, but those may be too close to Canadian Football for you to count.

    I can't speak besides that.

  • @TheNickNacker basketball was invented by a canadian

  • @texashulligan it was invented by a canadian in Massachusetts because Naismith wanted an alternate sport when it was to cold to play rugby.... The usa was actually experiencing a growth in rugby in the early 1900s but the game was banned by Ivy league schools because of injury and a few cases death

  • @TheNickNacker Um, ever heard of baseball? gridiron football?

  • @TheNickNacker what about lacrosse dumb ass....and football, wow ur dumb

  • @SUlax1017 american football was evolved not invented , and lacrosse was a NATIVE american sport , so unless the entire country of american is native american you didnt invent shit!

  • win my arse hahaha..lthough if they put as much money into rugby as they do nfl they probs would be the best in the world..im from sa and living in nz so i know rugby.o and i play and coached and im only 18
