I don't know if anybody has ever noticed, but during the section with The Sorrow you can actually access your entire inventory up to that point, including all your weapons.

@grimer30 that's the irony of it. The Sorrow is always smiling, and The Boss whose codename was The Joy never smiles. They are opposites.
