the "catchy tune" is the sound it plays when u install win xp media, when the setup starts where u need to enter admin pass, time zone etc, this sound plays
not really cuz telnet is a cmd server and it connects u to things online and typing dat star wars thing just gose to some ones thing theye made u dont belive me try it wiv no internet !
This isn't an easter egg ~ it's used as part of the XP installation process (Out Of Box Experience) ~ The music plays whilst windows completes it's installation.
Sorry but it's just part of Windows XP ~ not a real easter egg.
it isn't hidden under windows, it's a telnet server, this kind of servers are used to send commands to servers, and recive text like a remote control CMD, so that's a nerd use of this! I use this animation to test if my telnet program is working.
Pretty good video, though I'm figuring someone has already told you this, but the ASCII Star Wars Movie isn't actually in Windows, it's on another server being accessed by window's Telnet program. You can test this by unplugging your internet connection and trying to load this again. None the less, it's pretty darn cool.
awesome :D

This is not an easter egg. It is a telnet server running a program. You can do this anywhere at anytime as long as you have an Internet connection.

Uh, how is it a hidden movie when it's clearly not hidden, and the ascii has nothing to do with Windows XP.

That star wars movie isn't an XP easter egg - it's a file out on the net accessed via telnet. Try accessing it while offline...

the song isn't an easter egg...
when you buy your computer, thats the music that comes up to the first sign in and set up...
as for the ascii, you're telnetting to another computer.
sorry to ruin your day :D
