  • What a beautiful day for a bird strike!

  • yo, stop farting

  • fireman sam to the rescue

  • I've just got back from my hols and would shit my pants if this happened.

  • Gibraltarians dont like anyone.

  • Even Gibraltarian birds do not like the spanish!

  • The bird had a less successful in Gibraltar

  • Hope the bird was fine!

  • That noise was the bird...I'm sure...I know that bird...lol

  • It was an actual dog that flew into the engine, luckily, it sounds like it survived at 1:45

  • why did the pilot allow his dog on board?

  • What is the dog sounding noise at 1:45

  • @Nopresnik Its the PTU or Pressure Transfer Unit. Each hydraulic system ( yellow and green ) is pressurized from one of the enigines. when an engine is shutdown the PTU by means of no physical fluid connection transfers pressure to the second system through a pulsing pump, which 'Barks'. that is the sound you hear, it is very common to hear this on Airbus aircraft. Boeing aircraft arent so loud.

  • @mwethereld Thanks

  • @mwethereld get lost or ill slap u

  • @drgagan1181 wtf is your problem? mearly stating a fact you cunt troll.

  • @mwethereld shut up or ill slap u again

  • @mwethereld He's right its the PTU that you hear on the ground.

  • Thanks , Im now deaf

  • It's funny the noise that all 319 make after landing, sounds like electronic dogs

  • I can see engine 1 was hit and shut down..

  • A plane can land with only one engine on?? I didnt know that..

  • Comment removed

  • Is that the PTU barking away like mad after landing?

  • @1.48 right after the landing I thought it was the passengers yelling "Ugh, Ugh, Ugh, Ugh!" like a bunch of drunken men just because the pilot landed them to safety. Then I kinda realized it was just the engine sounding totally weird :o

    Anyway, interesting footage :)

  • 143 people are birds

  • Das Erlebt man nicht wirklich alle tage

  • is it just me or does that damn bird sound like an alsation when the plane lands?

  • at 1:28 is that a pecie of bird

  • @CristianTorrent it was a spanish bound flight anyway - iberia to madrid

  • @tgendorf u owned him, haha

  • @CristianTorrent They would have to let you land in their airspace if they like it or not. An aircraft in distress can land at any field with or without permission from ATC.

  • @CristianTorrent Use your brain when your in a emergency you can land at any airport they can't say no!!

  • @CristianTorrent erm excuse me. gibraltar is british not spanish :S? get your facts right.

  • In the landing phase you hear a "barking" sound on the film. Thats from a emergency hydraulic transfer pump running to make pressure to the disabled system

  • oh sorry habe es jetzt gesehen

  • Welche Airline war das?

  • I was on a Delta flight leaving Sacramento airport...we had the same thing happen. When the bird hit the engine it sounded like a loud bomb...Scared me to death but the burning smell scared everyone more. We dumped fuel and circled back with an emergency landing. I was on the emergency exit. The pilot simply said we lost an engine and to hold on tight. After landing..It looked black all around the engine. Horribly landing and scared the sh** out of me. Pilot later said it was a turkey.

  • that sound would scare the crap out of me!

  • thats a pretty high flying bird

  • @limavadylad Birds have been spotted at 30,000ft+. Theres a video on youtube somewhere of a birdstrike at this height.

  • @limavadylad Certin types of birds have been reported by pilots at over 20,000 feet. I think it's a type of condor or something.

  • so u were sitting and flying the aircraft from passanger seat..if not u were just a passanger

  • @amarjanjooha not the pilot - a pilot.

  • @tgendorf "Luckily Spain allowed you to land"?? You must be of limited inteligence to think that any country would "allow" an aircraft to land in distress because of nationality. Of course any landstrip is available to help any aircraft in distress. Also Iberia may not win awards for service but it´s maintenance and safety record is very good - which is more important- making sure you can choose between chicken or beef or getting you to your destination alive?

  • @shivgrib indeed. im assuming most would rather arrive alive. can eat good there at destination

  • Iberia tenia que ser...

  • I SEE MY ESTATE , LOL , bloody hell gib is full of buildings DX

  • Back in 1997 my plane leaving Gibraltar was struck by a bird moments before take-off; the pilot aborted and we only just stopped before the end of the runway.

I think we were pretty lucky to make it as overshooting the runway at Gibraltar means ending up in the sea!

  • it is not posible fixed mesh infront of engine ?something need to do,coze f,,ing birds.

  • Nobody wants to do an engine out approach into Gibraltar. The winds coming off that rock can cause unpredictable up/downdrafts that wreak havoc on even the most stabilized approach. Diverting to Malaga was the call every sane pilot would have made giving the circumstance.

I know the two countries have border and airspace disputes....but "We're declaring an emergency" trumps politics when it comes to landing priority every time.

  • @r1100s probably because you want your ship back at base where there are proper maintenance facilities. Aircraft stuck down route are a problem. Plus we do not know how much damage the bird did, did it go down the core? Did it bend a few blades? Aircraft ingest birds all the time with no effects on the engines.

  • @Sterlingjob haha what tosh..... no they dont!

Have you personally experienced a bird strike!? I have, it screws things up chronic. If a jet aircraft ingests a bird, there are problems - it's not as you say, no problem!!!

  • @joeslifeyork Im an aircraft engineer and i stick my head in engines everyday. You can sometimes smell burnt bird in the engine and other times there are bird remains on the backs of fan blades and there are no problems. Watch my bird strike video on my videos page. No damage was done by the bird.

  • @Sterlingjob Well funny that aint it.. as a pilot, everytime i've had a BS it's caused a headache not only for me, but for many other people (namely engineers who've had to fix the darn thing after it goes T/U!). Also, my many pilot friends who are now flying both with the military and with airlines, also confirm that no one they know has EVER sufferered a BS with no damage what-so-ever. If an aircraft ingests a bird, there's problems... end of. Th

  • @joeslifeyork You keep to driving aircraft, you clearly have no idea about inspections required after a birstrike. If the bird has gone down the core a boroscope is required, if it has gone down the bypass duct an inspection of the blades is required, if there is no damage to fan or bypass duct then clean it off and plane can fly. As i said look at my video of a birdstrike

  • @Sterlingjob thats assuming it just goes into the engine.. but a birdstrike doesnt just mean it goes down the engine... it can hit the fuselage anywhere...

You're talking the talk mate, but you dont walk the walk. Besides, i never said anything aboutt "driving" aircraft. You fly

  • @joeslifeyork Really ? I didn't know that.. I've scraped bird remains off flaps and windows numerous times. Being an engineer i know what im talking about as i deal with this kind of stuff on a daily basis.

  • When did the bird hit???

  • Mince meat.

  • Birds prove that they still own the sky. You can keep doubting it but its the truth.

  • nice view over gibraltar :)

  • Thank God youre good !

  • are you allowed cameras on take off and landing?

  • Did the birds eventually get a pay rise? You weren't stuck there for too long were u?

  • damn bird

  • I have a video arriving to Gibraltar. That airport is not a good airport. The most dangerous are seagulls, turbulence when the wind blows from S, SE o SW. And has a short runway. In this flight, my fellows, flew to Malaga because with that emergency was the more suitable airport to land. They didnt fly to Madrid

  • Where were the dogs at?

  • @Madi163 Gibraltar, it is a British Overseas territory, and it has a border with spain. The country is small, (6KM squares) and it's in the south of spain, near morocco. Amazing little country

  • @sthill1993 That is not a country. It is as you say a British Overseas territory like was Hong Kong, but not a Country.

  • @picacocos Whatever, its an overseas territory, i just said country bcos i cant be stuffed to write overseas territory.

  • Must have been quite a big bird, judging from the altitude at which this happened. Amazing capture.

  • ive bet you were shitting bricks

  • how horribly populated does the tiny island of gibraltar look from the air!!

and how high was that plane when bird struck, Im normally looking out at that point thinking "thx gawd, im up up and away". glad all safe back down in Malaga tho!

  • my ears hurt now :( but awesome job on part of the crew

  • Nobody has still explained to me why planes haven't been designed so that the engines don't fail because of birds, which are in the air all the time. All it would take is putting some kind of a very fine but strong mesh in front but our lives are in danger because of birds.

  • hey your copying my idea-ive said that on here if u go back to check it

    p.s-fancy a date sometime?

  • @SuzLa1 If you make a mesh fine enough to prevent a bird from passing threw it then the same mesh would reduce the airflow into the engine. An when it comes to jet engines its all about the airflow.

  • because if u put a mesh in front of the engine it'll mess up the airflow into the engine or just get sucked in, either way it would bring down the performance of the plane by A LOT. Trust me, engineers have thought about doing this stuff already.

  • @SuzLa1 Obviously the best option would be to just a mount a scarecrow up on each wing.

  • @Bong2Brain rofl

  • @Bong2Brain Funny comment lol!

  • my god this vid is threatening my audio system..LOL

  • wow, great vid!

  • jeah 8x8 Panther Firetrucks from Austria

  • What is the "Dogs barking in the hold" effect on the A320 family. Every time I fly on an A318,A318,A320 or A321 I get that noise just after the plane has rotated and when the engines shut down at the gate.

  • @iCarlyFanUK1234 Its the PTU it provides auxillary power across the hydralic systems

  • @iCarlyFanUK1234 Don't quote me on this but I believe it is in the hydraulic system. I used to work on the ramp for an airline that had a large Airbus fleet, I noticed that sound myself. The cargo doors are oprerated by hydraulics. When the airplane arrives and that noise occurs as soon as you operate the switch to opens the doors it stops right away.

  • ny mates sister's uncle has a cat named peter and sometimes he dresses peter up as a pilot and pretends he is flying him to brussels on an important buisness meeting

  • Your sister's uncle sounds crazy.

  • wow the engine sounded weird after the birdstrike, very nice capture, great video ;)

  • change the rubber band in the engine......and shut that dog up!

  • na sauber

  • I am at La Linea at the moment. Today, while visiting Gibraltar and walking over the runway, I was thinking of the many issues facing a pilot while landing there. And, yes, bird strikes was one of them. Thanks for sharing..

  • I"m preatty sure the frequency that planes use are eihter alot lower or way higher compare to allmsot any cellphone. I flew alot and the scaries flight i ever had was by a DRUNK Russian Pilot, and the best part it was during take off. Anyway this ashole pulled from the ground at such quickeness that i HEARD THE FUKING PLANE MAKE CRUNCHY NOISES AT THE CEELING, I though that the plane would break in half but it didnt. I will never forget that take off.

  • my girlfriends brother is only just 23 and has a pilots license.

  • what about mobile phones do they effect planes.

  • Im a pilot type rated on many private jets, Gulfstream 4 and 5, Hawker 800xp, citation 5 Ultra, Hawker 1000. Got my private pilot Lic at 17......but, who really gives a shit!!

  • So tell me sir, what kind of endorsements are required on those aircraft that you fly for a living?

  • your 21 and a pilot .... my arse!

  • what[s the big deal about being 21, and a pilot?

  • i am 21 and a pilot....

  • lol im 17. and i guess you could say im a pilot. but i dont have a plane. just a license

  • my mate is 21 and he's a pilot for ryanair, he's been flying since he was 14!

  • im 25 and fly numerous types of aircraft with the navy. some jets are valued at £21m. so there!

  • Lol if u had any knowledge about flying (like me, I am a pilot) you would know, that a camera is absolutely no problem concerning safety even during take off and landing so maybe YOU could be called dumb with such a low level of aviation knowledge.

Keep calm and instead of flaming you could just watch the video and be glad that someone recorded it.

  • I agree. The camera doesn't make any problems for planes and instruments during take off and landing. It is just a stupid regualtion, nothing more.

  • @GIAIZAK Yeh, but how stupid are you gonna feel when you, "Mr. Important", think you are too good to heed any warnings about your electronics and your plane goes down. It pisses me off how selfish people are. IM not saying electronics def. do or def. dont affect your flight, but what you cant wait till you land to talk to someone asshole. Im sure your conversation about the new episode of jersey shore can wait(LOL). And its not JUST YOU on the plane....Its NOT JUST YOUR WORLD....

  • If you're a pilot, I'm Princess Diana.

Maybe you're a pilot but I suppose that it is only in yours head.

However, you are right. The only thing that affects the device in an aircraft is mobile phone which interferes with microwave system responsible for automatic landing (ILS and MLS)

  • LOL - Great Stuff man... but i am pilot myself so i am allowed on many aircraft..

  • Then i think you are even dumber if you are a pilot yourself.

  • @ifurita81 A Camera has nothing who can disturb the systems like mobile phones, which send out magnetic waves or sth. like that. So its no problem to not turn off your video camcorder in the plane, expect its an mobile phone with camera :-)

  • @ifurita81 Why??whats the harm??? do u think they just tell you to shut electronic devices for "safety reasons"? just google anything aout that and it will tell you that its not true

  • @rohitb6

I just think pilots should set an example.

  • @ifurita81 ok so what is so bad about recording on takeoff and landing

  • @yoyoyoyoshua

Nothing , i just think pilots should set an example. If pilots are going too use private electronic devices they shouldn't tell passengers not too. Btw if this guy has time too make movies on his job i think his paycheck should be reduced and my ticket alot less expensive. I dont want too pay money for this guys shit movies on youtube. I have said what i wanted in this matter. End of dicussion.

  • @ifurita81 ok so he was a passenger not the pilot

  • @ifurita81

cameras don't send away radio waves and its those waves the airlines want you to have the items causing them turned off

  • @ifurita81 right.....shut up. please like you who moan should not be allowed on aircraft

  • Comment removed

  • @ifurita81 Anything transmitting electro-magnetic waves/signals such as mobile phones. Anything that can transmit a signal should be off. Camera's don't transmit signals which can intefere with the Aircraft's systems.

  • @ifurita81 omg! , i didn't believe that such stupid thinking people exist!

loooooooool. You know absolutly nothing about electronics. Think of it , why would a camera send out any sort of waves. Hahahahahaha >>>> and the waves will cause an engine failure?????!!!!! looooooooooooool.

  • @tmj992

Please tell me where i have claimed that. Guess it would be too hard for a imbred like you too make comments that actually is based on what people say. I thought everyone knew fucking their twin and making a baby was a bad idea but you proved some just dont know that.

  • GIB. All airports run on a 3 letter code.

  • what it isnt GIB its LXGB

  • Both are codes are correct for Gibraltar.

    GIB is the IATA (International Air Transport Association) airport code for Gibraltar;

LXGB is the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) airport code for Gibraltar.

  • 1:50 , it sounds like a steem train LOL

  • @LDP555 That is normal for this type of Aircraft... I can't remember if it is the hydraulics or what but we call it the "barking dog" because that's kind of what it sounds like when you are sitting on board. It is normal while you are taxiing to hear that and stuff...

  • I always wondered how they got the deep bass sounds in house music, now I know. Excellent vid

  • hahahahaha

  • I would have been shitting a brick man

  • bist du deutscher weil da jemand deutsch redet im hintergrund?

  • ja, bin deutscher.

  • love such a real video, thanks

  • Thank god the plain landed safely .

  • This won't be a problem for Air Iberia soon....now that they've merged with British Airways they will be bankrupt within a year!

  • I would have been scared, I hate flying.

  • i live in gibraltar i admit there are loads of birds but he didnt do a emergancy landing the the next airport was not gibraltar it was madrid

  • no, plane went up the cost and landed in malaga. with gibraltar being very unpredictable and the plane can fly comfortably on one engine - malaga was the best option

  • Its easier to fly your aircraft back to base where you have the maintenance facilties

  • actually this could be real, there are many birds there and the airport isn't the busiest so think this might be plausible

    what airline did u use?

  • iberia - it says on the engine when he is outside the plane :P

  • Ya i saw that after posted it thx

  • counrty looks alot like africa.

  • its fake

    i don't believe this

this video has been edited by he

    bad :(

  • @swan989 fuckin troll

  • jaja troll you

  • @swan989 haha you wish you were good in english. we rape your ass

  • Comment removed

  • lol look who's talking. oh wait. im sorry you don't even understand english. who's leading in the world? haha that's right. America. Spanish my ass. You and your beaner relatives in Mexico.

  • fuck you!!

    motherfucker

  • wonder they diverted to malaga instead of just going round one circuit, or did you fly straight along the coast instead of over the mountains, which may of been easier than banking round and circuiting the rock.

  • Hehe, klasse Aufnahme

  • i been in malaga airport last tuesday!!

I'm very scared of fly. So if i would be in that aircraft i would have freaked out!!

    sorry about my bad english

  • they were already in the air they might as well just continued to their final destination. teehee.

  • why at 1:41 the plane sound

    like a steam engine

    x)

  • i believe that sound is a hydraluic transfer pump and it is located in/near the main gear bay, i think its used to boost the hydraulic pressure in the operating system, as the other hydraulic system would be shut down due to the engine failure. if anyone knows anything to add etc feel free to correct me :-)

  • @DaMotoRider85

Your Almost Right. The 320 has 3 hydraulik Systems. Blue is driven electriclly.

While Yellow and Green is driven by Engine. If one Engine fails. The PTU (power transform Unit) Transform the Power from One hydraulic system mechanicly to the other.

More or less its basicly a Pump and motor mounted on one schaft.
