  • I have two Kirbys, a Model 513 and a 515 from the early 50s and they still work perfect and clean better than any brand new dyson on the market.

  • that is nice! i think that is early 1995 unit 2011 hit vacuum is motor burn out maybe use it too much!!!! that is 7Amps and 120~volts.. we brought it hoover 2011. last 5 month ago.

  • now thats clean carpet

  • p.p.s. - A new Kirby is not 2000. They go for 1700 but the salesman will pretend to call the manager and offer it to you between 1200 and a grand when you haggle. Anyway, as I said earlier Id buy a used one on Craigslist. They come on there often. They last at least 30 or so years and have seen some people on youtube with ones from the 1960's that still work. The sucking power is unbelievable and it is made from the same material they make airplane engines with. Its why its so heavy.

  • p.s. My friend's mother (in her 80's now) has had her Kirby since the 70s and it still works great but its ugly as hell (lol). Its sitting in the garage collecting dust but was taken out and tested about a year or so ago. They really do last for generations. I would suggest buying a used one. You can get them for about 100 to 600 depending on the model and condition and how many original parts. I have 2 boxes of extra parts but dont use them as all the "extras" dont really work that great..

  • Ive had my Kirby since the early 90s (I think it was 92 I got it but it could have been 91). I paid 700 for it. when they were selling them for about 1200 at that time. I vacuum every 3 days sometimes (4 or 5 max) for 20 years. Ony thing Ive had to replace on it was the belt 4 times and the cord (because I kept yanking it to stretch, one of the electric sticks finally gave way) Thats it.. They are toally worth the money. I have to order my bags online now so buy them in bulk of course.

  • Some of them are Sentrias, Some of them are G7s.

  • I still miss the old Kirby 3. :( That was such an AWESOME vacuum!

  • @MADDOG6400 You mean the G3?

  • @lucasmollet Yes, the G3. That was such an AWESOME vacuum!

  • ok i so You would feel the same about your car. they crash 10-20 of them before thay ever hit the market. and most cost 30,000 +

  • if these things are $2000+, why would kirby use so many for testing? sounds like a waste. or it proves the vacuum doesn't cost or isn't worth 2 grand.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat I'm sure it doesn't cost $2000 to make...

  • @hoover1060 It doesn't. If it did, Kirby wouldn't be a making a profit.

  • @hoover1060 Agreed, I think they the door to door salesperson may start there, it is up to the consumer to accept it or talk them down. It is expensive to make, somewhere near to $400.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat It obviously doesn't cost 2000 to make, but if theyre selling something that sells at 2000 don't you think they would be of higher quality? undergo more rigorous test? And also if they use more it will make their test less accurate. Don't hate on kirby with a stupid accusation like that.

  • @kenoile. I understand. love kirby and own 2 myself, but don't think any vacuum should be sold for 2 grand

  • @Vacmasterthegreat THIS testing is part of the reason why it costs that much.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat ur fukin stupid the food stamp card u have isnt worth 200$ is it? its a 5 cent piece of plastic

  • @travco187 only people like you would not get the sarcasm in my comment.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat it seems to me that the Kirby company feels, that if they are going to sell a high quality vacuum at such a high price the're more than willing to rigorosly test several of their products to insure quality of product. I would be willing to bet Kitchen Aid has a department set up where all they do is run hundreds of mixers until the mixer dies. Just Saying, I would also test a large percentage of my product as well to help ensure Quality Controll it makes a lot of sense.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat I'm sorry; I also didn't notice that there was irony to this coment. It is often hard to visualise a difference in tone or wordage in text.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat I would like to apologize again just would to make sure you knew i was being completely sincere, I just didn't realize we were having an ironic moment. Don't you just love kirbys

  • @itsmemanduh no apology needed. I was only pointing out that since they don't cost anywhere near $2k to make, Kirby doesn't have a problem with testing so many. and kirby should lower the price

  • @Vacmasterthegreat I can agree with that Kirby should lower the price.

  • @Vacmasterthegreat i think my distributor paid $250 for his and sold them for $1500

  • I love my sentria; the sales tactics aren't the greatest for it. If you want a great vacuum that really cleans better than any Dyson, or whatnot, buy one.. don't pay over $1000 for it either.

  • @TheTubeTater I paid 2,000... I will never be scammed like that again though :-( I still think it's worth it though.

  • @natureslove18 I don't understand why Kirby just doesn't make another great vacuum that they could sell in maybe target for like $900... instead of their strange selling tactics.

  • @TheTubeTater I asked them that over the phone the other day and there response was they wanted to make sure that any potential buyers knew exactly what they were getting. Some commercials say an item can do all these wonderful things but when you purchase it.. it's not nearly as good as it was on tv. And if its sitting next to other vaccuums on a shelf.. you don't really know what makes it different from the rest.. at least this is all what I was told.

  • @natureslove18 I know but there philosophy is erroneous. If they opened up their market by lowering the price, and making it more available to more people... it would sell itself ......all the niche things it does, like shampoo and shine woodfloors, most consumers could give a crap about... Someone in keirby is refusing to let go of antiquated business virtues that may had worked in the 70's, but now are just tedious and passive aggressive...

  • You actually went to the Kirby factory? Nice!

  • it was a fun trip!

  • l love mine, paid a fraction of the MSRP, the sales pitch was brutal, but in the end, the thing is awesum....it pulled a ton are crapolia out of my carpets....the salesman are annoying and persistant, but i got the deal of a lifetime and love it.

  • i am an authorized independant dealer. who needs a sentria?

  • Some headlights is not working...... quality?

  • its lifespan, they run them 1000 hours or until they die.

  • My grandparents still have and use their Kirby from 1958. They have never seviced it. Quality? Yup.

  • Anyone needs a new Kirby let me know I am an authorized Distributer!!

  • some of the lights on the running ones are out

  • I have a kirby tradition from the late 1970s(mine was rebuilt in 1996) and the headlight (incandescent) is still working

  • i bet the electric bill is going to be huge.

  • even older kirbys can get a second/third life with or without factory rebuild

  • i hope to get a sentria some time in the near future:)

  • @fr34kaccident they are absolutely amazing!!! I love mine!

  • Comment removed

  • miele is also 1000 hours

  • i vacuum about 3 hours every two days. so my filter queen if it had followed that test it would have died mid 1990's but its still going.

  • Having worked in the vacuum industry for over 10 years, I would buy a kirby over any old vacuum;whaterh it's a miele, rainbow, or a royal.

  • wtf that is shorter than miele does they do 10000 hours

  • Thanks for the great video!

  • HOW LONG DOES THE KIRBY LAST PLZ TELL ME

  • These Kirbys will run 1000 hours non stop, thats the goal. The 1000 hour run is the the equivalent of about 25 years use in a home

  • it will take about 42 days at 24 hours a day to equal 1,000 hours.

  • 42 non stop days huh? Thats more than I vacuum so I think my machines will be around for a while lol.

  • That is sweet! And I bet those machines will pass with flying colors too!

  • thers some clean carpet!
