Went to CA once in 2002, right when the X trains were being worked on. :( I hear the new ones for the much improved "X2" are a lot better. And you're right about it being Arrow's last big project. Their last standard looper was Dollywood's Tennessee Tornado.....an amazing ride compared to earlier ones.

That's not why Arrow went bankrupt. Arrow went bankrupt because X had so many problems (being a prototype and all) that it caused Six Flags a lot of money to perfect (which it never was) so they sued Arrow Dyanamics which led to its demise, however, S&S power stepped in and bough the Arrow Dynamics company. S&S designed Eejanaika in Japan, which is the second 4D coaster. They improved the seats and made them lighter.

X had many problems with their trains so they decided to go full out and take X to the next level, X2, new paint, new trains, and new audio and visual elements, including a new tunnel.

Where did you hear this at? The ride is getting new trains and still is the most popular ride in the park. So its not closing.

Um...what? It's not closing, at all. Six Flags website, Wikipedia, RCDB, none of them mention anything about it closing. It's had no problems at all since August of 2002 except for one train valleying in 2005. It's not closing. =/ Magic Mountain is being sold, though.
