  • I'm the best

  • i did this they only want your monny

  • Yep...국 kuk = national 술 sool = art 원 won = association . The words kuk sool won, literally means national art association. It doesn't say anything about Korea 한국 Han guk (korea nation), or Martial Art 무술 Mu Sool. It just says nation art 국 술 kuk sool. Nice video but a bit wrong on the literal meaning of the name. Hope this helps for the next video.

  • I disagree with u lucky no one is at same lvl when it comes to mental and physical

  • lol... people arguing about how much they get payed.. I feel sorry that, that is such an important factor for you to argue over.

Also - what is the point in arguing over who is better? Everyone is equal in terms of mental power. Physical advancement is of the choice of the person and not something to brag over.

how about we watch this video for what it is... and not argue over pointless things

  • good on you!

  • very good martial art

  • FYI: Kuk Sool Won literally means National Art Association. Kuk= National , Sool= Art , Won (pronounced like the number one)= Association. Have a wonderful day.

  • Kuk Sool = Korean Martial Art and Won = Association or family..

  • This going back forth with a autistic internet tough guy is getting real old and tiresome for me. Like I said, at 15 I have done more than have ever done, and now at 24 I have seen and expierienced more than you ever will in two lifetimes. You could not survive one minute in my line of work, but then again your so physically, mentally and and spiritually advanced than I am. If you can get to pay grade E-5 as an Air Force Combat Controller, then maybe you talk to me, untill then, stay quiet.

  • Funny guy...You must have got your ass kicked at 15 relying on what you learn and decided to turn your back on it. As for what I have been through you have no idea and what I get paid from art and photography has me in a completely different tax bracket than the military...

  • KUK GAY WON is more like it! This and every other "Traditional Martial Arts" are a waste of time, I reached Gyo Sa Nim level (2nd Degree Black Belt) when I was 15. Its all flash and style with very little substance and very cult like. I would suggest Boxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Judo, Jujitsu(Brazilian or Japanese) and Judo as far superior arts.

  • i wouldn't call it Gay but i agree that boxing, Muay Thai, Krav Maga ect... would b better

  • fuck you

  • the most inteligent comment so far

  • you obviously were only going through the motions like most people and you yourself needed to ad the substance...all martial arts are cult like they have a following...doing forms as in gung fu is about movement and style and simulates combat..when it is applied in actual combat your instinct reduces the amount of motion and uses the simplest application...and to reach that level that fast i believe your teacher was a fraud and only in it for the money..and you were lazy...no martial art is gay.

  • Incorrect my friend, someone who "goes through the motions" doesnt stick around for 11 years and Kuk sya nim wouldn't personally present a 2nd degree black belt to some one who is lazy, it just wouldnt look good on his part. I have been involved in traditional and mixed martial arts since I was 4 years old, and accomplished more by the time I was 15 than you ever will. I have evolved as a martial artist, while you remain static, unenlightened and a kuk sooler for life.

  • I have seen many like you and you assume too much...I've instructed for Canton Mixed Martial Arts in the u.k in JKD street defence. and through out my 25yrs in and out different schools Shotokan, Kuk Sool, Wu Shu in Houston I have seen a lot of passing of the belt and a lot of those who recieved them did not deserve them. It's not until you become an adult in the discipline and show substance you are truely ready for a Dan, and second Dan in Kuk Sool cost in 1995 $2,000...so it's all about money

  • Blah Blah Blah, you talk too much, or should I say type too much. Kuk sool is in my past, I am beyond it now, light years ahead of anybody such as your self. I chose not to associate myself and be loyal to any one discipline, you need to lay off kuk sools nuts. In order to get a promotion one must pass many tests and here in the bay area we would do it in front of grandmaster, his son, and other high ranks and not to mention 3 - 4 different schools watching...........

  • ........So if you dont deserve the next rank, it shows. So actually its NOT all about the mony, as you so eloquently put it. Maybe you can explain why and how, if my instructor was such a sham, we won school of the year 4 years in a row with only 15 - 20 competitors, when other shools had 50+ at tournaments. Me and my brothers have two duffle bags full of medals and shelves full of trophy, that stuff has no meaning, but I don't think a lazy undeserving person could achieve that. Seacrest out!

  • I am 32 you are 24 there is no way you can be ahead of me in anyway especially mentally, physically or spiritually...I know how testing is done and no matter how many medals you have, you are a disgrace to the art and don't deserve the rank...

  • It's probably as useless as kung fu, but it looks fun though. Good exercise for fat americans.

  • you have no idea about real martial arts it is all apart of gung fu...all styles stem from 1 root and that is gung fu..even muay thai is just a hard form of gung fu..

  • marlin sims is one bad ass fighter i wouldnet want to be cought in an ally with him

  • SWEDEN IS GAY

  • detta är korrekt

  • "kuk" is "cock" "dick" or "pecker" in swedish..

  • Dont fuck with Marlin..the black guy..I used to train with him and he one tough MO FO

Im glad to see its not a lost art

  • psycho and warrior are both correct, its not the art , but the practioner, i train in kuk sool and find it more fulfilling than my previous attempts in martial art, ie sure there is sparring, which is what, tame kick boxing or other stand up art, then throws, weopons training, ki breathing training. I say you want to learn how to fight go to boxing class, however you want to learn how to defend yourself then try it kuk sool

  • Kuk Sool Focusses to much on disjointed techniques and not on proper application and street defense. I was a white belt-yellow stripe and I was able to beat all of the students at the school no matter what belt level they were, even the black belts, at sparring. The only 3 people I could not beat at that school were the teacher and his two best students (teach was 6th degree and the students were both 2nd degree.) Soon after I learned that most can't actually fight I left.

  • Kuk Sool ins't just about sparring, and learning how to fight. its about body conditioning and improving urself, u could probably beat those guys cause u were a better fighter before u started than they where before they started.

p.s. i dont realy know you, but from the comment u left im guessing ur an arogant motherfucker, so why dont you try bragging about how hard you are to real people rather than online where u'll never have to prove it

  • Sorry guys but...there is no martial art that's "better" than another. If you guys were real martial artists, you'd have respect for all other martial artists. Not just people in taekwondo.

  • He's right. It's not the art, it is the warrior who uses it.

  • *She. :P

  • Oh, sorry, I just assumed you were a guy.

  • @psych0tych0 sorry bawbag, I don't have respect for this shit martial art or fuckin taekwondo. You want to learn how to fight in real life? Go to Muay Thai, Boxing, BJJ and or wrestling.

  • @kicktothebass HAHA! "Bawbag!" What a great word! And who said I wanted to pick fights? It's much better - and wiser - to avoid getting into a fight in the first place. To the well-trained and disciplined mind, violence is always a last resort.

  • Cool documentary

    but TKD IS BETTER!

  • excuse me but you are very wrong. i'm only a blue belt in kuk sool and i've fought meny Tae Kwon Do martial artists both single and multiple and i have yet to lose. i dont mean to sound like i'm bragging because i am far from any where near good. i have a respect for all martial arts & martial artists around the world be they white belt or black belt. i just wish to point out that no 1 martial art is the best but i feel that Kuk Sool is the best martial art i have ever trained in.

  • This is kinda pathetic.... The technique is so flowery and lacks any practicality whatsoever. What about the older guy jumping up and smacking each of his feet, one at a time. Yeah, fights go like that.

  • Um.... I went up against a kSW guy in a sparing match during practice(mma), and he did a number on me. The forms are just as essential in this martial art, as in any. Even muai thai has form.. I'm mean we do some strange dancing before a match for heavens sake, and it doesnt seem manly at all. The animal forms help you get a sense of individuality. And the feet thing, well I use ankle pick take downs all the time... so; Kinda like jumping jacks.

  • it's suppose to be as if you have knives in anckle holsters. it has meaning you just need to use your brain.

  • If way of the foot is so much better then why is it that over the years I have seen so many of them leave their schools for a harder workout, either that or try kuk sool and give up because they are not used to the physical demand that a strong kuk sool school enforces. There are a lot of styles out there that are too easy on their students, serious kuk sool instructors run cardio workouts that will have you throwing up if you don't come prepared for it. "KUK SOOL!"

  • however if you are prepared it is you will find that you will stick to it i no people from different martial art schools cum to kuk sool n say its harder but its better

  • I think it also has to do with the instructor. No offense to Kuk sool, I've always wanted to try it, but the instructors here seem fat and out of shape. The only reason why I couldnt phatom winning against a fat master is because I can't get around his damn belly. I think even Bruce Lee condemed that. So in all, I think that bad instructors give a bad name to the art and cause students to leave for another.

  • so very true. Marster Watson & Master Hart's workouts are killers but it does help.

  • If you speak with kuk sa nim, kuk sool is as old as 2,000 years. The name Kuk Sool Won is rather new. All Kuk sa nim did was take all of the techniques, forms, meditations, and other parts of kuk sool that he had learned over the years and added a name to it. Similar to what Bruce lee did with jeet kune do.

  • as mutch as I like this vid the bloke doing the tlaking has not got a good vice for this kind of thing every time he sez "and so on" drives me up the wall but still a good vid.

  • just to let you know kuk sool won is not a style it is a study of kora art why do you have to have a brown or black belt to use a pole or sword it not like you doing some thing out of this world i think blue belt is ok fore that you do the same thing a way with you hand's you just have a pole nothing change

  • Kuk Sool is a system. Anyway, many instructors differ with weapons... Some instructors will train you with a weapon because of your own skill, while others will hold you until a certain rank. The bong [not "pole"] is, in actuality, a black belt weapon, but is commonly used under black belt to prepare for sword.

  • i know it,s a system but it,s not a style my master teacher is marlin sims all kuk sool mean is Korean Tredinal mar arts that all kuk sool is hapkido, hawrango do,so it not one style because it do all koren arts if you want a style then tea kown do is a style if kuk sool is a style you may as well say you do hapkido and hawrangdo thay came from kuk sool just look at it so how is it a style when they all are the same

  • kuk sool is not all those things, but all of those are kuk sool won. People took what they wanted from kuk sool and made there own hapkido or hwa rang do

  • tae kwon do owns kuk sool won

  • hahaha, well by all means tae kwon do is not rubish however ive done both ive done tae kwon do in bradford and ksw in liverpool and i prefer ksw however there is always different thing better in different martial arts.

  • I s that Simms?

  • It's a good video. But I don't understand why they say it's not new to the martial arts world. I have yet to talk to anyone online who has ever even heard of it first off, secondly it's only 50-years-old. My father is older than this martial art. Also, just about everything said that is taught in the video isn't really taught at all until black belt.

  • Kuk Sool is not old but a lot of the technics are very old. It is not the most well known but it dose have school all wrond the world. This include UK and Spain. Weapons training starts at Blue belt. Hope this makes things a little clear.

  • I understand that. I don't know where you're learning the style that starts any weapon at Blue Belt. But I happen to be a blue belt and I'm not even allowed to hold the staffs at my school and they tell me all of the time it starts at brown and black belts.

  • It is diffrent from school to school but Jill Bong (I think that is how it is spelt, two stiks with a chain between). Start at blue belt I think later at brown belt is then staff. Hope that helps regards Dan

  • THANK YOU

  • kuk sool won is good, when u get a good master, like other kind,... for hapkido its a derived kind of thechnique i heard.

  • very great!

thats why I train kuk sool won for years!

  • Yeah lets go kuk sool won

  • It is in my opinion that Kuk Sol Won (I've seen it spelled this way first) should do what Kyokushin does with Karate and make its own variation of a "fighting system," meaning that Kyokushin is fighting karate, y'all could do a full-contact style that could be "fighting kuk sol won." If they posted some vids on MMA fighter, Gary Goodridge, you could look him up. You'll see what I'm talking about.

  • The traditional Korean martial of Kuk Sool Won is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which together comprise martial arts history of the Korean nation. As such Kuk Sool WonT is an extremely well-organized system of martial arts which seeks to integrate and explore all aspects of the traditional Korean martial arts.

  • Yeah! I getcha! But that is my opinion.

  • ...and you are entitled...did I say the words "traditional martial arts" enough?

  • ...

  • hmmmm reminds me of hapkido sounds like hapkido what is the big difference? they both have the same self defense techniques.

  • The three branches of traditional Korean martial arts: SahDoh MuSool, BoolKyo MuSool, and KoongJoong MuSool, were organized to form a single system known as Kuk Sool in 1958 by In-hyuk Suh, the founder and Grandmaster of Kuk Sool Won™.

Kuk Sool has countless techniques derived from the three branches of traditional Korean martial arts and is structured to take a practitioner in a logical progression from the beginning all the way up to Master level.
