  • This game is the dogs bollocks. this is when i put my amiga away lol

  • OMG this brings back memories, me and my dad played this when we first got a computer, looked good back then but now... damn it was hard! That Kolador stage was a pain in the ass.

  • Cool its gameplay from the SWTOR space missions! oh wait....

  • Loved it, and still love it!!! Thanks buddy!!!

  • great graphics for it's time

    nice game ;)

  • @adamcoe Damn, same thing with me, my dad spent 400 dollars to buy creative sound blaster 16 bit in our 386 system and increase the RAM to 8mb and we also used memmaker in the dos. And it was 1993

  • Commander Ferrel? Will FERREL?!?

  • I remember playing this as a kid. The sheer frustration! Definitely not the best game for a 5 year old because my god it was hard .: D

  • My 1st star wars game on a pc! :D

  • why in the cut scenes for the a-wing did they show rookie 1 in an x-wing cockpit? maybe a mistake? look at 5:35

  • I'd do just about anything to be able to play this on Windows 7. Anyone know of a way?

  • When I had this game and was very, very young, I heard Commander Farrel saying it as "Shoot the ice asteroids but dodge the karate ones."

  • Epic, I remember playing this for hours along with Strike Commander!.

  • GOOD FUCKING GOD - THIS GAME! There is an old monitor in our garage...collecting dust...It has tiny, but wicked teeth marks all over it...Why? Me...as a kid, trying to PLAY THIS GAME and BITING IT IN RAGE!

  • As a kid, I always found some things weird... like the difficulty, it was INSANE for the wrong reasons, the wingmen USELESS, the texts looking awful... couln't they do something sleeker, and perhaps smaller? Specially the subs...

And what kind of "good guys" make their rookies run through increasingly suicidal training missions?!

Good run, but your sensitivity is too high.

  • This isn't a game... its the satanic cock of Lucifer and you're willingly letting him slap the SHIT OUT OF YOU!

  • I remember playing this game with my first Gravis joystick. Watching this brings back memories.

  • This was the game that (with subtitles on) taught me that rendezvous and "Rondeyvou" were the same word.

  • awesome game for its time

  • Wow this brings back memories

  • what grapics is that???Omg

  • Heh, my first CD Rom game. Played this with a star wars loving ex gf. Whe're has the time gone. I want it back.

  • Playing the Beggar's Canyon level taught me my left and right.

  • its been almost 20 years when i first played this game......time flies !

  • Comment removed

  • this game looks shite

  • my friend had this game on his pc and always wanted to play that (and mario when he didn't pause it causing me (usually luigi) to fall down a hole) but it was HARD! This was high difficulty game. moderately fun. good memories though.

  • When he said Rookie 1 standing by, commander!, the cockpit of the ship he was in was incorrect. An X-wing cockpit on an A-wing.

  • its quite interesting that the scenes that needed to be pre-rendered back when this game was made, look like crap compared to the graphics of games that are rendered real time nowadays...

  • Thumbs up if you got this game when you first bought one of those "multimedia kits" which were basically a Soundblaster 16 and a CD-ROM 2x.

  • This is the absolute worst game ever made.

  • i miss the gool old days. die die die is the best cheat code ever!

  • Oh man. I remember back when I was a kid when this came out in demo-mode on a PC at Egghead software and I sat there playing it enough that my dad bought it for us. Such a difficult game, but decently made for it's time.

  • I remember playing this on an old IBM PC when I was about 5. I never beat the training mission. :)

  • (facepalm) George Lucas has way too many games for star wars and they only made like 3 good ones out of what 10+?

  • @hellopie7 What 3 games? I'd say the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series were really good alone.

  • when ever i feel guilty for others i ask my self is it like star wars like a bad force is devouring the people am i on the sith's side or jedi? Im a Sith.

  • 3:17 - 3:40 is what space combat is going to look like in The Old Republic. That is freaking lulzy.

  • WOOOH i got this game when i bought my first PC

  • No offense or anything, but this playthrough could use some improvement on the shooting stages. You've missed too many easy targets on both the canyon and the asteroid field.

Good job on flying through Kollador, though.

  • Yeah...this game was fucking hard, overall. I used a joystick, and it was INSANELY sensitive. That was the problem. They seemed to correct this with Rebel Assault 2.

  • This game was so awesome. Seeing video clips of Star Wars on a PC in 1993 was beyond amazing. You young whipper-snappers don't know how good you have it today!

  • Looks like a terrible game.

  • @pandafuhrer wrong.

  • oh god the crystals.... I never got past the crystals

  • i always hated that kolaador mission

  • I burst out in laughter when I saw Commander Ru Murleen. LOL! That intro of hers is one I was SO familiar with (if not sick of), cuz I always failed in her stage! LMAO

  • This game made such an impact on me that I simply went crazy for PC games after playing it!

  • fuck this game oh my god it was hard but fun!!! good to see it around still.

  • oh god looks so much better than the sega cd version jesus christ.

  • I remember my dad spending like 400 bucks to get a sound blaster 16 and a CD-ROM installed in our 486 and doubling the RAM to a scorching 8 MB, then buying this game...I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever witnessed...i mean, full screen video in 1993? call the cops!

  • @adamcoe Gold.

  • hours lost trying to figure how to pass a freaken canyon.

  • Duh-duh-duh-duhhh duhhh, duh-duh-duh-duhhh, duh, duh-duh-duh-duhhh, duh, duh-duh-duh-CRASH

  • this is the most frustrating SW game ever, they put all the efford in graphics and cutscenes and threw playability out of the window

  • @Gontzal7 Especially after XWING series, to this day XWING/TIE FIGHTER UNBELIEVABLE.

  • i always crashed my plane on the first left on thsi corse

  • I loved this game when I was a child but it was unplayble.

  • god this brings back good memories!

  • 2:28 looks like hack is on facebook 2:39 the sound when you get the new message

  • @DuleTheMan Haha, you're right! :D

  • Up - FIRE, down - FIRE, left - FIRE, right - FIRE! :D

  • I love the actors in this game. They are so lifelike. :). Seriously, I love this game series.

  • wow this game has pretty good graphics for its time period

  • This game was actually quite good fun to play which was very surprising (If insanely hard!). I remember thinking how realistic the graphics and sound were! Ahh to be a teenager again!

  • i freaking hated this level

  • they let the movie RICKY 1 come join the rebels?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • I loved this game. I actually used to have it and I was able to beat it...on an old Mac Performa. It does bring back memories.

  • I don't want to know how much time they spent on rendering all those courses. I read they are all sort of higly compressed interactive cutscenes with limited interactivity. This game must've been a nightmare for every CD drive back then :D

  • I remember when I was 5 or so my dad picked me up from summer camp with Koo-Roo-Roo and a pack of Star Wars mac games; I tried this one but couldn't get past the first level because I couldn't figure out the controls.

  • nostalgia!

im pretty sure my comp didnt have sound though

  • i played a game like this but not exactly the same... still i could hardly get those walkers and other things too stop shooting my friends ships and my allied units cuz i sucked at going around it then destroying it

  • Oh wow, I remember this game! Could not even get past the first level without a struggle.

  • this game was hard as shit...

i remember the falcon flight portion in the tunnels... never beat it i dont think

  • Remember the first Matsushita 1x cd drives? The ones that opened like an alligator's mouth? And you had to jerry-rig the audio plug so it would work with a sound blaster card! Those first multimedia upgrades were expensive! But this was the first big CD game. Game play wasn't great but for the time the graphics were kind of amazing.

  • @kristell9 I HAD EXACTLY THAT ONE! :D

  • @nrdesign1991 The 2x drive came out weeks later!

  • i never remember playing this game but i can't wait to get home on friday to play this!

  • I used to have like this whole game committed to muscle memory... could beat it in my sleep...

  • I just remembered that at one time i had this whole game memorized- every asteroid and enemy- you had to if you wanted to beat it. But how many neurons did i waste?

  • Same here! Such nostalgia...I rember playing this ageeeees ago.

  • ahhhhhhh! i feel nostalgic now...i want to play it again!

  • Thanks for posting this! I remember as a kid loving this game and feeling so happy after getting through the canyon with the A-wing using the arrow keys. That's hard when you're like 7 or 8 haha.

  • People, try using a mouse for this game. It's much easier!

  • this looks classic

  • That flirtatious hag! haha

  • @BasilEstAuBresil Who are you talking about?

  • @thehalowarthog Ru Marleen =)

  • God I used to have this around 1998!!! It was a great game with good graphics for the time! I completed it too!!!! Although the part where you go in the caves to shoot the probe droids took me AGES to complete. The beginning credits and music and the ships flying around was worth the price alone I used to just leave that running. I'm gunna buy it again, and rebel assault 2 which I know nothing of - you can get 'em both on ebay with another game for around £7.

  • I remember playing this game years ago but then my CD started to screw up. T.T

The game was entertaining but the story is fake shit!

  • I still have my original DOS copy, but I haven't bothered to load it up in DOSBOX. I think I remember less of this game than many, I should definitely slap it in.

  • I'd buy her a drink for fancy flying if you catch my drift. :D. First played this game when I was 4 years old. Took me like ten tries back then just to get through the A-Wing Training level (#4) so obviously as a kid it got more than frustrating, lol.

  • I remember being so mad at the 3rd level in the A-wing. I must have destroyed a joystick and a computer monitor back in the day...

  • I remember playing this on the 3DO---man has it been so long.

  • Another 3DO player, awesome - remember Demolitian Man?

  • @NothingOriginal55

I've seen demos of Demolition Man but I've never played it. Gex and Battle Sport where my favorites.

  • The memories!

  • bought a cd-rom drive and pc just for that game

  • One of my first games :D

  • I loved to play this game! One of the first available on CD-ROM!

  • I agree with what you're saying about the joystick (DAMN this game had horrid controls), but...why did you turn in-game text on? That's so annoying...

  • It's best just to use a mouse when you play this. Same for RA2:THE.

  • lol, this game looks cool.

  • Guys I'm still waiting for Rebel Assault 3 for years. Any hope this game is going to continue?

  • I was hoping the same thing for awhile, but who would want a rail-shooter these days?

The graphics are even more amazing in stuff like Rogue Squadron 2 and 3, and you can fly basically anywhere.

  • I know what you are saying but I mean it would be nice to see a new rebel assault branded game rogue leader gamecube style, but with next generation graphics with a great story. I dont know is just that I liked the universe they showed on rebel assault 1, it felt like a true star wars quality product.

  • This is on Google's official blog about YouTube!! Cool!!

  • Durr Hurr i'm famous now ... pfffffff

  • kudos to you lolz

  • It's funny how it makes a laser sound when you get hit with a rock or something. xD

  • Omgod I love this game since I was a kid!

  • This was leagues ahead of it's time in so many respects.. and it was so damn cool too! You really felt absorbed into the Star Wars universe.

It outshines most of the poor movie adaptions that we see today.

  • You're kidding, right? This game was outdated very fast, even in the mid-90's. The sequel was miles beyond.

  • It was? haha.. ok I'll take your word for it ;)

    I havent played the sequel.

  • Awesome!

    My first CD-rom-game ever.

    Still runs with Dosbox v0.73

  • oh man i miss this game!

  • Wow. I've never seen or heard of this game... and for being a '93, the planet environment looks pretty.

  • Looks like a lot of fucking fun!

  • still have this game somewhere. i remember this as a kid. freaking hard

  • Epic. I think this was one of the first games ever released on PC CD-ROM.

  • Oh my god. I remember playing this game when I was a child. It was fucking insanely hard to beat.

  • @RATmm

You are not kidding Rat. And the joystick I used was a piece of shit... I dont know how I made it past the training...

  • @RATmm I too spent countless hours trying to play this game, but half the time it froze on our computer.

  • @RATmm that asteroid field is a bitch but after that it went kinda easy

  • @RATmm OMG I agree lol. remember the second asteroid field? That took me months, sadly, I still remember the password for beating it. I was so proud ^^

  • @RATmm

holy shit i remember this first part too, jesus

  • shit i love this game! I used to cry my heart out everytime I crash on that last mission every sunday morning haha.

I lost my rebel assult 1 but i have the 2nd one. does any one know where I can get it again?

  • The internet?

    Unless you're looking for a legal way to do it... >__>;

  • Maybe pirate's bay, but I'm still skeptical of the site's credibility...

Probably eBay, I'd check there first.

  • Nostalgia attack! I wish they had this on Steam :D

  • nostalgic rememberings :)

  • word!

  • Big time.

  • Awesome game. Fun gameplay and good acting.

  • Up-Fire, Down-Fire, Left-Fire, Right-Fire during Lucas Arts Logo - that should give you the code to level-skip by pressing the ESC key.

I used that code all the time when I was a kid. :)

  • kallodore was such a hard level

  • I'm not really a fan of Star Wars but I bought this a little whil ago for a couple of Quid and was gutted when I found out it won't work on my PC. I need to figure out that damn DOSbox

  • odds are it will be on Steam in perfect working order before too long.

  • my first CD rom game......I played this sooo many times in my old 486....I love it!!

  • Are there any websites where you can download this game?

  • must of had a few drinks before take off.

  • I miss playing the old school games from dos...I wish they would re-do them or revamp them to play on windows today.

  • i was 6 when i played this... memories

  • lol, laserblaster noises when you hit the walls

  • Thank you for posting these! I never was able to finish this game!

  • You probably would have a very hard time getting the game running these days if you still have the disc.

  • Oh wow this game brings back memories. I got it when I was 5 or so. I could never beat the 3rd chapter. This game was awesome!

  • this level was soooooo hard! made me go out n buy a joystick just to play it

  • The game is awesome, but It's very dificulty to control the ship with a mouse!

  • This is a prime example of a game i was really good at once, but now I completely fail at it.

It is very tricky to control. :P

  • i wish i could get this game to work on vista, rebel assault 2 also. anyone have any idea how?

  • In description: "...with a Saitek Gold joystick in Dosbox". Use DosBox like the video maker did o.o

  • clearly you dont understand. dos box doesnt work with vista. ive tried it numerous times.

  • holy shit i played this game when I was little! this level was so hard hahah I was like 6

  • One of the best computer games ever created hands down. It was one of them games in the early 90s that marked a power shift in the gaming industry where the PC stole the show from the consoles like SEGA, Nintendo and Amiga.

  • i remember this game...it was amazing..i watched it @ a friends father... and it was only like : Wow...

  • Ahhhh the good old days! thaank you for posting this!

  • yeah, i`m playing this game at the moment, it took me 3 days to finish the flight training level. it is horrible to play this one with a mouse. although, i love this game.

  • I can't get it going these days on my computer

  • no, its easy to play. use dosbox, and download it on rs. believe me!

  • dosbox just confuses me.

  • I remember this looking SO awesome back then

Six years later, games are another ball game

  • yeah, imo the graphics were sooo awesome back in the days (1994). i used to play this game on my friends pc. 4 days ago i got it running on dosbox, and its still a great arcade game....but the graphics cause eyecancer to me....but its still worth to play it!

  • Well came out 1993, but probably played a ton in 1994

    Eyecancer from playing it, lol

Very simplistic game by todays standards don't you think?

Probably still fun, I might try to get it going again

  • one of the unique features about the PC and 3DO versions that differ than the Sega CD version is that you can change Rookie One's gender in the options menu. I always found it funny how if you changed him to a female, Ru Marleen still asks Rookie One on a date at the end of Chapter 3. :)

  • This game is pure love <3 I remember it like it was yesterday.

  • This game looks awful on the Sega CD.

  • first game on CD i ever bought, ahh the memories.

  • same here. Epic game though!

  • thank you man, from the heart, i bought this game but could never played it and was wondering how was it,and now i can see it,bravo for keeping ur nerves koz it was hard as two hells

  • they are coming out wit 3 next year

  • Omg this is awesome game, i have this and star wars rebel assault 2 too! AWESOME

  • I've never completed the training stage :(

  • the only thing that sucked about the game were the controls *1/2outta****

  • Wow...This brings back deeply suppressed memories from childhood of trying to beat this game with a mouse. :( But in watching you beat the crystal A-wing level somehow I feel vindicated, as if those countless hours I spent in vain are now worth something...

  • A VERY important PC game. This was the game that sold the first cd-rom drives during Xmas 1993.

Remember those alligator jawed Mitsumi drives!?

  • great game anyway!!

  • dam this was hard when i was a child, i always died at the crystal level

  • I used to play this game back in 1994-95, with an old logitech wingman purple joystick. The joystick was IMPOSSIBLE to move correctly and you had to reconfigure it before each game. I never pass the first level, even after hours and hours of training... This game ruined my childhood !
