  • @Pyrothos666 Why do that? if the engine is stock you'll be fine with their 2.1/2.2 kit. If you're trying to get the 2.6 kit you just need forged rotating assembly with 18.1 CC dished pistons and you can put about 20 psi safely. If it's free though then go for it.

  • No offense or nothing, but how much power does that thing put out base? cause it looks like with the upgrades you have, you should be getting more power.

  • @wildkyler95 baseline runs for automatic GT's are usually around 210 rwhp while the manuals average about 15-20 higher. There really was no big upgrade other than the supercharger. I've been the dyno with almost every add on and there isn't as big as a jump with the other stuff (i.e. headers, mufflers, CAI) as people think. So basically I just added a supercharger and exhaust (which might get 10 rwhp max) leaving the supercharger to give about 100 rwhp increase. This was also only running 5psi

  • @Npena100 I just not too long ago made O-2e (which is pay scale for officers with 4+ years of active duty as an enlisted member) and at over 8 years $4580 base pay + $223 subsistence allow. (tax free) + $1470 BAH (Basic Allowance for housing also tax free) = $6273 (gross) / month or ~ 75k / year. by 2013 I should be a CPT (O-3e) putting me at roughly ~85k-90k / year.

  • o yea i do the same thing with my bonneville, in the winter because its so old i never push it hard, not for fun or anything, only when its to avoid an accident, and to make sure i never push it while its cold i always start it and let it idle for a few minutes until it gets up to temp, cars are just like people, if you dont stretch then u pull a muscle and are sore for a few days, if you push an engine, espically forced induction when its cold u break a rod and are out an entire engine lol

  • and after the fuel pump upgrade the engine was able to go back up to 10 pounds of boost and the problem was solved, and the m90 put to much power to the engine and trans so we had to electronically reduce the power so the engine and trans wouldnt explode lol, not sure how it was done, i was only 16 at the time so i didnt really understand what was going on. so have you encountered any problems like that in your more extensive modding journey?

  • @funnycar4000 well it's dyno tuned so it really doesn't have many problems as long as you're driving in the same temperature conditions as when it was tuned. Mine was tuned at about 100 degrees (F) so when it's 20-50 degrees, it can detonate or backfire because of the air density changes. I can get a "winter" tune but I don't run it hard in the winter anyway so I probably won't.

Sadly they cost the same but I bought this thinking "cool a saleen supercharger!" but now I realize that was a big mistake. I may or may not get the 2.2; I already forged my engine and lowered the CR; all I need now is a cobra tank with the dual pumps but... Now I've saved up so much money I'd rather buy an 06-08 Z06...

  • @huntergluck i know what you mean, saleen is known to everyone as badass and super fast so naturally you would want to buy it lol. and wow, uve done plenty of work to the engine, forged pistons are essential if you wanna upgrade for sure. the new pumps are essential for sure to keep up with the increased flow of gas. i know this first hand bc im not sure if i already told you but ive got a 1993 pontiac bonneville ssei with the m62 super on it, over 171k miles we went through 3 m62's so my dad

  • @funnycar4000 so my dad, who decided that we would have the bonneville forever, was tired of the m62's constantly failing so he spend the extra cash and upgraded to the eaton m90, it was quite easy, just new heads and pullies and all that good stuff, we didnt have to touch any internal components, so back to the fuel pump, after the install if we pushed the boost over 4 pounds the engine would sputter and it refused to accelerate, so we knew it was a fuel issue, so we upgraded the fuel pump

  • @SotaSamakari that's about 350 ehp assuming you have a manual which can be achieved with heads, cams, and the usual bolt on's but i seriously doubt it if you don't have heads/cams at least. That engine isn't gonna get 90 hp off some exhaust and a throttle body lol.

  • @huntergluck Mine isn't stock but doesn't have too much on it. The stock figures for my model start at 260 new, so it's not like I've gained 90hp anyways. I've only gained around 35 at the most from what I've done to it. Exhaust, Throttle Body+Plenum, SCT Chip Tuner, and a Cold Air Intake.

  • @SotaSamakari Oh you mean 296 ehp not at the wheels. That's a big difference. My 306 is rwhp (real wheel horse power) not ehp (engine horse power). At the time of this vid it had about 385 ehp. Not to burst your bubble, but if you actually got that thing dynoed I doubt it would make over 250 rwhp given you have a manual. If it's an auto maybe like 230 rwhp. Trust me, I know these engines like the back of my hand. My car had 260 ehp stock and barely 215 rwhp. My car now has about 400 rwhp/500ehp

  • @SotaSamakari I did a simple pulley swap on the SC and went from 306-331 rwhp which is estimated about 385-415 ehp. I added some trick flow heads and comp cams and forged the internals with 18.1 cc dished pistons (8:1 CR) and went from 331 rwhp to 400 rwhp (about 415 ehp to 500 ehp). Believe me, with the combination of all that and my racing tranny & drag radials you wouldn't come close to 2-3 seconds of a 1/4 mile pass with me. I run high 11's low 12's; you're probably at about low 14's.

I never said my car was better than yours, and I definitely never claimed to have a fast or powerful car. All I said was your dyno results were low for what you had in the car. It was a compliment I was giving you. I was saying your car was more powerful than what your results were telling you. What ever man, if you get defensive on youtube because someone was saying your car is nice and thinks the dyno is wrong then you've obviously got some issues to sort out, or just not reply back at all.

  • @LegendMuscle There really aren't many engine mods here. Kenne Bell tested long tube headers and found they're only worth 8 rwhp. A throttle body gives you maybe 5 rwhp compared to stock. MSD coils might give you 3 rwhp along with the 3 you'll get from the air filter. that's 8+5+3+3=19 rwhp. these cars only dyno about 208 rwhp with an auto so the SC at 5 lbs. (stock pulley) is worth 306-(208+19)= 79 rwhp. which is almost 100 ehp which is short of saleen's claim to add 120-140 hp.

  • @LegendMuscle BTW, the intercooler and heat exchanger upgrades aren't made to add hp but rather maintain consistent hp. For example the stock ones might get 306 on the first run, 300 the 2nd, 290 the 3rd. These upgrades keep the SC performing around peak performance run after run.

Saleen series IV kit stock pulley w/ LFP heat exchanger and chicane intercooler upgrades, MAC full length headers, MAC exhaust offroad, Accufab 75mm TB, K&N CAI, MSD coils, Transgo Stage III shift kit, 2400 stall, SCT tuner, 3.55 rear end, Nitto radials, Derale Tranny cooler. and one engine shampoo

  • @lagirrl1975 good for you but over the years I've gotten well aquainted with these engines and I'm willing to bet you spent about as much as a Supercharger costs if not more to get 300 rwhp. Before the advent of the new twisted wedge heads for the 2v, 300 rwhp NA was almost impossible without a lot of money and the even the TW heads are still 2k for a pair plus 600 for the cams and a new intake to match the power, injectors another 1k, all to get 300 rwhp (+ install).   • @huntergluck ur right but ur timline is wrong...that was true about 10 years ago but 300 rwhp is easy now...i do have tfs heads.full exhaust,longtube headers ,msd COP's,boss block..5.3.(not needed for 300 hp),p51 intake(also not needed for 300hp) as factory intake flows very well.stage 2 cams..im buiding for forced induction prob a procharger or TT..The saleen series 4 is not very efficient..i see most blown 2v like yours makin 400 or better to the wheels with kb 1.7 and procharger etc...

  • @lagirrl1975 I have the tfs twisted wedge heads installed now with comp cams and they rock. You're right though, Saleen chargers suck. The KB 1.7's suck too but they don't produce them anymore they make the 2.1 and 2.6 for the 2v's now. The 2.2 easily gets 400rwhp while the 1.7 usually got 330-350 in stock trim. My car is pretty much maxed on the setup I have at 400 rwhp. I have to upgrade to cobra tank dual pumps and a kenne bell SC to get serious power. Already forged with 18cc pistons.

  • @huntergluck i wish i had 400 hp lol Ive seen some good results with the hp twin turbo kits ...(hp in the 650 range and the new kb 2.8 is supposed to make big numbers on a 2v but i havent seen one)but the 4.6 is just too small to build big hp without n2o or forced induction...there is a reason ford put a supercharger on the cobra

  • @crashinc06 I don't like late model camaros. The engines are nice but they're ugly to me. This way just getting my feet wet. I do mods in incriments to see gains and differences. My car is up to 400 rwhp and now has forged internals. My next step is to up the blower to a KB 2.6L. With the heads/cams i have on it now, it will hit over 600 rwhp and if I wanted to go all out its capable of 700+. You don't need a camaro to go fast and I get a lot of compliments daily on my stang.

These guys probably would be surprised to know that I make 62k/yr and this is one of three of my cars that sit in my driveway with an 86 iroc in mint condition and an 04 escalade at only 24 yrs. old. If I wanted a foreign car or whatever car these guys claim I should've bought, I would've by now. BTW the coolant crossover hose is what popped off. My fault though.

I'm not saying it isn't possible but most of the guys talking about them don't even have one. 90 percent of the people that praise the ls1 maros and say what it would do to me don't have the f'n car and probably drive a 95 civic or some other POS. Talkers and doers, I drive down the track while these guys talk down the track.

  • @onebad4cyl I was gradually taking steps up by increasing boost and other components. This was my lowest step and it now has about 600 ehp +/- 50 ehp. Even still, this supercharger dissapointed me but remember it was low boost and the only real supporting mod as far as hp is the headers and thats probably only 15 rwhp. I got a 100 rwhp over stock so it wasn't completely useless and i still stomp out unsuspecting drivers on a daily basis (98 percent of cars on the road aren't even this fast).

  • @onebad4cyl Its all in the works. I take it step by step. Next plan is to upgrade to the cobra fuel tank with dual fuel pump setup. Will probably go to 60 lbs injectors or higher and eventually get a kenne bell 2.6 supercharger. This saleen blower has no future.

The most I ever heard on the stock motor is 387 rwhp on a manual and that guy did so much shit to get it like acid porting the manifold. There are no videos on youtube getting more than 350 rwhp on a saleen series IV. Trust me, it just sucks. I also never heard of a V6 putting out that much even with a SC. I've heard of twin turboed v6's doing a lot but those are stronger. Also need a built motor.

  • Engine parts for Camaros and T/As are more expensive than parts for Mustangs because you're buying the same parts that the Corvette guys are. F-body's (and the 04-06 GTO) all got hand-me-down/over engines from big brother Vette. But where the Chevy's are cheaper is when you want to increase power. Don't see many Mustangs with aftermarket camshafts because the price isn't worth the very little increase in power you'd see in the 3v 4.6. $250 for a cam in the LS1 will bring it over 400hp.

  • I had something like that happen when my buddy got his Maverik running. Was over heating, topped it off, fired up, was stannding off the pass side and BOOOF! Top hose on his rad BLEW OFF THE RAD.. The metal sleeve came OFF of it's weld on the rad. Was expecting to be burned BAD, but was just the opposite.

  • It's not turboed, it has a supercharger. And it is manual its just got an automatic clutch basically. My tranny is no where near stock and will handle well over 750 hp.

  • i have a 70 chevelle ss ls6 that would easlly take this slow mustang only putting out a sad 300 rwhp when mine put out well over 550 rwhp bone stock and i have a a 2002 ss camaro that put out 345 rwhp bone stock real men shift there own gears.

  • I'd love to see vids of you shooting down the track in these cars. Man your one lucky 20 year old kid to have not one but two rare cars. They only made a hand full of 02 camaro SS's with a manual trans and somehow you've got one. Well this vid is over a year old and I've recently added heads, cams, forged motor, and raised boost. I haven't dynoed it yet but it should have around 600 ehp +/- 50 ehp (depending on what my fuel system will handle). Post some vids of those cool cars of yours though.

  • By the way, i do have a full manual stage III shift kit. Maybe if you ever go out to a track one day, you'll see a whole lot more of those and yes high stalled autos are superior to any stock manual you may have driven rookie. There are probably more drag racers using autos than manuals. But personally i don't knock either. A win is a win and don't bitch about losing to an auto, it just sounds pathetic...

  • Don't take my words out of context. I never said I hated Bush or thought he was a bad president. I commented on one of his own admitted bad ideas. Leaders make bad decisions but it doesn't make them a bad leader. I'm a platoon leader and I'm sure I've made bad decisions but I'm not a bad lieutenant nor my company commander being a bad captain when he makes bad decisions. Bush did some good, and regardless I stood by my commander-in-chief. Go get a good education before you try to talk politics.

  • haha im a chevy person too. but when u start buying parts for a chevrolet there alot higher than parts for a ford, ford mass produces mustang. expecially the 90s models. alot more mustangs on the road than there are camaros. makes parts more expensive.

  • I always thought the opposite. I always thought the chevys cost more to buy but were cheaper to maintain. Don't get me wrong I like chevys too. I just like nice looking cars don't care who makes em. My favorite line up on the current gen would be Z06, GT 500, and Challenger in that order. I also thought the late model Trans Am WS6 was hot shit. Looked way better than its camaro counter part with all its muscles.

  • yes, Saleen makes the weakest SC 's for mustangs. Don't believe their hype. It was still a healthy 100 rwhp increase but other SC's are making 400rwhp such as KB. Auto mustangs of this year barely make 210 rwhp.

  • that just happend to me the other day i had to replace the whole intake, i got worried i thought i blew my head gaskets but i didnt so its all good now.

  • while i was at the dyno i realized i installed my SC without sealing it with silicone to the manifold so i took the whole SC off (took about 4 hours) to seal it and put it back on but i forgot to clamp the coolant crossover hose down so it blew off.
