  • Infernal Hail from OBNOUNCE, i just love my Ibanez RG2228 8-string guitar using Bareknuckle Aftermaths...

  • This guy is such a pud. lol

  • Hmmm. He didn't even mention the larger-than-usual 27" scale length.

  • I hate it when nerdy mainstream types talk about metal as if we're some kind of evil cabal lol.

  • Wait so 8 is two more than 6? Omfg I've been living a lie all my life why why got why. I was to lazy to hit the all caps button yet I have the time to say this explaining it

  • What gauge is the 8th string?

  • @megakid888 .068

  • Do they have it in lefty? :D For the love of god pleeeease

  • 2 more than a 6??? fuck i didnt kno that -_-

  • I like the trumpet in the background

  • "Tosin Abasi" would have been a good answer to any of his questions.

  • Who is this crack?! Word of the day must be Meshuggah! Would be nice if they had someone familiar with the metal genre to talk. Maybe he was a stand in for someone else. Not a good front man for such a nice guitar...

  • @sploogefest14 This guy doesn't now shit period - extended range guitars have been made for the last 350 years for various virtuoso guitarists, but which were obviously acoustic. The extended range is more to do with enhancing the limited range of the guitar - which is about half that of the piano. A 'chuggy low sound' is just one, fringe benefit of an extended range guitar. A string on 'either side' would be far more practical, but this can be achieved with the standard 8 string ibanez.

  • Steve Vai never uses 8 strings, dumbass

  • 8 string is not a wonderfull shred tool. other than a crazy breakdown i would make most metal sound shit. No this is a Jazz instrument!!!

  • will someone shut that stupid bastard in the background with the trumpet up please...

  • its goes to 11

  • this man was fired 12 minutes after this video.he was dead 46 minutes after this video.pray for his family if he had one...which i doubt.

  • @RICK5150JEM777 hahaha

  • I got bored with my 8 string, so I'm gonna call Ibanez to make me a 9 stringer with 27 frets. Whatever!

  • i cant even fathom how hard it must be for people to play that thing

  • Thumbs up for MESHUGGAH!!!

  • im a gonna start a beat metal band

  • Well, I've gotta say I haven't been able to get used to using one of these 8-string guitars. Honestly, I think a common seven string one can easily fit my tastes and it's got two more strings in it which make it sound heavier than ever or even than a seven string guitar.

  • It's a great guitar, I got one of the early versions of this model, It's a shred machine, the neck is unbelievable thin :)

  • And sooner than later there will be a "nine" string signature.

  • @SHATTERED5487 lol, there is a niner...Agile guitars.

  • @bchewdown and Halo guitars now makes a 10 string

  • Just check out a baroque lute its been done forever.

  • well that guy was a prick. he's pretty damn good at math though.

  • This guy is a jew

  • i loooove how they use this guy to introduce this thing, even though he is easily the least metal human being on the planet.

  • i so wanna test it at least thou i have 2 7 string rg's

  • If more is better. I want a 90 string.

  • @brt927 What are you going to sit on it to play it?..:P

  • @killcab No of course not... I'm going to use my extendo fingers! My girlfriend loves em! ;)

  • MESHUGGAAAAAAAAAAHHHH

  • 2 more strings than a 6 strings.......no shit sherlock!!!!!

  • @samaaelhansen I thought that was less than a six string... I'm confused, does Jimmy Buffet play this guitar?

  • he's gay..

  • he's gay..

  • i dnt get it... why are 7 strings soo popular in jazz?? 0_o

  • lots of fingerstyle (and otherwise) jazz players like to add extended bass lines in their tunes.

  • ahh ok it all makes sense now :P lol thanks m8 :D

  • John Pizzarelli

  • huh who? lol

  • Jazz guitarist who uses a 7 string guitar.

  • because you can play lead and bass-lines simultaneously on one guitar without some insane hand stretching.

  • bought a custom made one black woth blue lightning

  • So when you buy strings for this guitar, do they have 8 string sets out there, or do you have to buy a standard 6 string set and two more additional custom gauge strings? Also, is this guitar made only with a fixed bridge and locking nut, or can you get a floating Floyd Rose setup, locking tuners instead of a locking nut, a Wilkinson bridge, etc.?

  • probaly not u would have to custom build a locking nut and floating bridge

  • they make sets of strings for 8 strings but youre pretty much always gonna have to get them online like guitarcenter(dot)com and ibanez only puts fixed bridges on their 8 strings but you can get tremolo's for 8 strings, example: the kahler tremolo's

  • You can always buy extra loose strings at guitar center or whatever. If you've ever snapped a high E and went and bought an extra this is the exact same thing, just a diffrent thickness. if you like really heavy strings you can make custom sets online with some companies. It's very possible, just not common.

  • I own a 7 string for a while and 6 strings just don't cut it anymore, but 8 is just ridiculously metal O_O

  • thing i love you can have a very bright heavy riffs

    then suddenly go thundering low

    its fucking awesome!!!

  • same here lol

  • notice how he was gonna say hardcore but instead said heavy metal. this dude is a metal head in the closet

  • lol prolly the most effiminate badass dude ever.

  • What gauge is the low F# string?

  • I remember looking on the Ibanez website and the string gauge was a 68. The guitarists in Meshuggah use a 70, but I heard some people even have 80. I think it depends on the scale length.

  • most likely a 72 0r 74

  • HARD AND DEEP METAL BAND!

  • Like Meshuggah and... um... ah and other heavy metal bands... Lmao

    Dudes lame, guitar is sweet

  • 6:02 of suit talk, play the fucking thing!

  • At 2:22, someone stole that guitar haha

  • 2:40 puts it back ;)

  • I love how he says heavy metal like its a curse word hahaha

  • @dimebagdarrellxx Haha, I find it's funny he's from Ibanez and seems to not like metal!

  • @dimebagdarrellxx Well is basically just a salesman, he's surely afraid to make it sound like this guitar is just for metal artist. Which is surely true for about 95% of the people who buy this. But some players like Tosin Abasi is playing one, so Alienating this type of player is not a good idea. But imo, this guitar is done for extreme metal.

  • @dimebagdarrellxx and "shred machines"

  • If you play an 8 string, every bassist you play with will hate you. The low F# is ridiculous on bass, and if you de-tune to it, your strings will flop like a limp dick.

Great idea, but I still only see this as practical if you've got a bat-shit crazy bassist, or you just plain don't have one.

  • Or what if your bassist just has a multi string bass?

And it's plenty practical in many situations. One of the guys in my band has one of these guitars and he plays clean jazz on it. It's a creative tool you can do more with, and it is not just used by metal bands. Metal bands just happen to be the most common users of a guitar like that. But you can use it for any other style of music you wanted to and still accommodate everyone else with it.

  • Can't you just tune-up? I'm pretty sure that's what mehsuggas bassplayer does.

  • Tune up a bass? I don't think that would be good for the neck... But I mean this guitar would be perfect matched with that Music man 6 string bass, or even a 7 string bass.

  • Meshuggah tune the 8 string from F# down half a step to F, so they play F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb. Their bassist plays a 5 string bass, and tunes to Bb, F, Bb, Eb, Ab. pretty sure anyway. Dont think the bassist has changed tuning since meshuggah played in Bb on their 7 strings.

  • that kinda sucks because that means the bassist has to play most stuff on the 4th string, which matches the 8th string of the guitars, so its not an octave lower.

  • just get more strings on the basses

  • take a nomral guitar and make it 8 strings you'll have a guitar almost impossible to play?>??

Guess he never saw a 12 string bass?

  • What a tool!

  • "Well it has 2 more strings than a 6 string..." - we didn't know that! =D

  • :D:D

  • @enorhted DURRR

  • @enorhted well at least the guy likes meshuggah haha :P

  • @neto2131 I could just see this guy head banging to Meshuggah

  • i think i see my guitar at the top left the rg350mdx

  • awesome!
