They like to nest in wood chips for some reason. i had a female nesting eggs she was only here for a2 weeks everything was fine then 2 hours later she was gone and all of her eggs except for one cracked one left behind.
OK it may be awkward having ducks. i have four ducks, the same kind in the video, and two are males and two are females, one of the two females was going to have 3 ducklings then my cousins dog takes 1 and we have 2, then he took 1 more, now we have 1, if he gets that last egg (hopefully the mom will be alert) we wont have any babies and if he doesn't there's a 2/5 chance it'll hatch
In 2 occasions, I kept kicking the mother duck and finally she could not sustain my kick and flied away. Then I picked up the newly hatched baby ducks, broken one of the legs, and put them back into the nest for crawling and chirping. But their mother never came back. When mother ducks themselves are in danger, babies mean nothing to them.
one time, i cracked the beak of a mother duck with a sharp rock to see if her quacking would become altered in any way. the reaction was still "quack" but somewhat more of a whistle sound leaked through the cracked duck beak. i decided to pour peroxide on the wound in order to get the duck wound sanitized and the reaction was still "quack" but i sensed more desperation and pain in the sounds

You cracked...cracked the beak of a large duck? Wow, you must hold her head tight! I guess the quack come from her throat, and has little to do with the shape of her beak...
Anyway, mother ducks have no real love on their babies. I have tested that again and again...
yes the quack came from the throat yet leaked through the newfound crack in an odd yet musical way. i held the neck and placed her beak parallel to a cement wall and thrusted the rock in a stabbing manner as to allow no escape. it took a few time before the solid duck beak gave way and looked similar to a crack in the pavement. after i sterilized the wound, i taped the beak shut because the quacks were becoming bothersome.
I see...I see...wa-haha...beak parallel to a cement...good method! By the way, why did you crack the beak? Curiosity? I have to admit that the beak of a duck is an interesting object.
I simply want to prove that mother ducks have no real love, and it is kind of funny when people try to "humanize" ducks behaviors.
i cracked it to see if her quacking would become altered in any way. i also plucked out the feathers on the left side of her duck body and watched her try to fly away. she landed back into the nest of baby duckling and showed them love and affection. she cared for them and loved them and needed them. she would kiss them and play sports with them. she would teach them how to quack songs. she was just like a loving human
When they stop laying that means she will warm the eggs to hatch, but, if you get to close, they'll inhale meaning they are giving you warning like rattlesnakes and they will attack
of course i let her stay it was the season plus she needs a place to nest and the reason she didn't attack me is that i let her get used to me she let me watch her.
@tatu1985 So cute. I am sure she is long gone, two years later, but do you ever see her or does she come back or any ducks that might be her babies? :)
my duck just laid an egg and i got a video of her. this is so cute!

cool to have a duck by your garage.. i can't believe she didn't start hissing at you
mjmorris025 5 months ago
that's such a big responsibility. if anything happens to the mother duck, then you're going to have to sit on the eggs and hatch them yourself

OMG i hope one day i can own a house big enough for a duck to randomly pick it as its nesting place <3
