Regarding the previous comment: Isn't looking cool enough? Personally, I'd settle for that! Seriously...fractals are used a fair amount in computer simulations of natural objects like mountains or leaves, and there's a few applications in ivdeo compression. Also just a lot of really deep. cool, pure mathematics.
