  • Wow! That's why I build my desktops. Leave it to Dell to screw up on something as simple as air cooling.

I'd buy an after market CPU cooler and pray that the holes line up.

  • Damn! Did u use duster. Maybe the CPUs not detected crappy ram or somthing

  • darn straight mine is the same

  • For all the people who are saying mega cooling, the computer WONT EVEN POST in this state.

  • Thermal grease is bad. I reccomend Arctic Silver. I should know, my computer did this 2 weeks ago.

  • Is this the new F-35 Jet Flight?

  • This is what I call a computer under a heart attack...

  • i have its better solution you should change its processor paste its price is 1USD

  • what the... over 9000 watt xD

  • more like a delta...

  • Yeah, I remember my school had dells and the fan would run at the max speed just from drawing in 2 colors in microsoft paint :) I bet the thing would totally overheat if you tried to run photoshop.

I also remember one time where a fan had apparently broken because the computer rattled as though there was a twisty-tie glued to the fan.

DELL= Don't Expect to Last Long

  • Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! PASSENGERS HOLD TIGHT!!

  • ya mine sounds the exact same way it sounds like a jet at takeoff

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • At least it would be cool :D

  • @FUZiiONxFTW, twice the price for half the function. Awesome.

  • my dell 8400 had the same problem i think i broke the smsc chip by looking further in i noticed the solders were squashed so there's probably a short circuit somehow.

  • I remember when this first happed to my 8400. I was 12 so it scared the shit out of me. I got the fuck out of there and got my mom.

I thought it was going to explode.

  • @SonicKillMario Mine DID explode.

  • @nypulley999 Oh then it must be a Mac it looks good but it explodes :P

  • @nypulley999 O_O Dear god,

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever will I buy a dell desktop.

  • Cleaner your computer. If our in a dust house(old) with kid, dogs, cats, furry animals and/or bugs(roaches) you need to clean that thing on less than 3 times a year. I clean my PC every two months and i have none of the above. a computer is like a car engine it need care.

  • whats te progam

  • @glennbaat1 startup

  • its really silece xD

  • i did this by just bypassing the speed controller and it lifted off my table with no help

  • haha same computer amazing, isnt it?

  • hahahaha this happened with a Dell Dimension 8200 I have. It freaked me the hell out and un plugged it from the wall. Thank god it has only done it once though.

  • LMFAO! i have a dimension 8400 and it did that like 2 months agoo :)

  • MEGA COOLING!

  • LMFAOOO, DAMMN THAT SHITS RETARTED

  • Same thing happened to me trying to play FSX on the Dimension 8400. Dell Dimensions are shit and they're so slow. If you want a real PC, get a custom made.

  • Your not supposed to put a jet engine in these things ya know...

  • sounds like a jet engine starting

  • Well at least now you dont have to worry about overheating

  • I fixed this issue with artic silver thermal paste between the heat sink and the processor. I read that over time thermal paste dries up and becomes unusable. hope this helps

  • atleast u wont have to worry about anything getting hot or overheating lol

  • Control Tower, This is Dell-8400 awaiting clear for takeoff on runway D84, please respond

  • WOW! Thats a badass fan! Freakin Beast!

  • Category 3 Huricane...

  • LOL THAT DEFIANTLY SOUNDS LIKE A JET TAKING OFF

  • and I thought the Radeon HD 2900XT fans were loud xD

  • It still amazes me how people got suckered into buying from Michael Dell. Piece of shit computers.

  • @TheWorld4all not even close bitch

  • @Dell0304 Don't get mad - just dump your shitty Dell and go get yourself a real computer.

  • @TheWorld4all hellz no dell rocks

  • @Dell0304 - I wonder who would agree with you other than your close knit Michael Dell cocksuckers...

  • @TheWorld4all ok, people are entitled to their own opinions. whatever, dont comment about it. im dont talking to you.

  • thats about to blow up lol probz changed from 250v to 320v by acident :/

  • try the ram thats how i fixed my dimension 5000 and it had the same probem.

  • HURRICANE!!!

  • I had an 8400 also and on occasion when it went to blue screen of death and I pressed the power button this would happen.

  • well the bright side it is........... nothing should be able to over heat. lol.

  • i think it's a delta fan

those baby can output over 100cfm and at the same time sound like a 747

  • @TheCheesyProductions Yeah. Man they get pretty damn loud.

  • thats some fan on that thing sounds like a plane engine LOL.

  • Happened to me today after I had reapplied thermal paste.

I just had to reseat the processor back in, and it worked.

  • @onthenetgear had the same problem did the same thing and worked aswell.

  • i also had the same prob, and it turned out to be my video card. it was damaged and for some reason made the fan act crazy. when i replaced it with my old video card everything was back to normal. if this happens to you try analyzing your video card for any damage.

  • "Houston we're clear for take-off..."

  • @smrio "this is Houston, roger that" LOL

  • i have a 8400 and it had the same prob it wasint the mother board for me, it was the fan, but it works now! =D

  • Ahh, those good o'l delta screamers. Sounds like the motherboard went bad and was just giving the fan 12v all the time.

  • Hahaha It's like a jet engine xD

  • OMG

  • common problem with the 8400.

  • And with GX280 Optiplex

  • update system BIOS

  • BUUZZZZZZZ! Next! lol

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like im in a plane!lol:)

  • Sounds like the fan has nine blades, right?

  • This happens to my PC also, it brakes my heart to hear the fan do that when it does it to mine...

  • LOL

  • lol that happened to me but... it ended differnetly.

    ok here we go

this is dell - 8400 on runway bottom desk, executing permission to take off(fan gets hella loud)MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY ENGINE FAIL I REPEAT ENGINE FAIL,THERES SMOKE EVERYWHERE,CALL FIRE DEPARTMNET!!!!

  • Hello Tower, this is DELL-8400 on Runway 32R, requesting permission for Takeoff

  • I bet that fan can power a small R/C plane.

  • @computec1993 Was about to post something very similar :)

  • @computec1993 Dell-8400, you may proceed takeoff at 32R...

  • lol and then your pc start FLYING! XD

  • i have had that happen with a customers machine, reseat the pci slots and it will work great.

  • hahahaahha what does the pci slots have to do with a fan?

  • LOL Nothing.

  • Hi,

    Is that fan's p/n DS9238-12HBTL?

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • Jet engines + Dell Computers = /win?

  • 0027 If you did use a greenscreen, you could have added clouds on the background. It would look exactley like a plane.

  • Does that fan have a blow off valve?

  • lol must run rly cool.

  • ladies and gentelmen please fasten your seat belts we are about to take off!

  • thats the new 930293953442RPM fans!!

keeps your cpu running at -240c!!!!

    lol =P

  • Only if his room temperature is -240C ;D

  • lol

  • And it keeps your computer flying!

  • The jet sound without the smell (burning fuel)

  • sometimes those DELLS get bulging caps ( capacitor plague) . very common with them...

  • @c0rrupts3ct0r555 my gx280 died cws of that

  • @c0rrupts3ct0r555 my 3400 has one by the RAM slots but still boots

  • Had the same problem up until recently with my 8400, luckily I had a dell extended warranty so they sent out a techie to take a look. It was a ram problem, there are 2 modules in this model, he took out the bad one and got them to send me a replacement for me to install myself.

Take out one of the ram and try starting up, if that doesn't work, replace the ram and remove the other one and try again.

  • I had a similar problem with my 8400. Then it got to the point where the heatsink fan wouldn't work. There was a bad wire since I could finagle with the wire to get the fan to work. It got to the point where the computer was barely limping along at times. I called Dell and they sent a technician to replace the heatsink fan. The motherboard, power supply and the heatsink were also replaced. Now the computer works fine.

  • Yes, I had exactly the same problem with the exact same solution (Dell onsite visit) about three years ago.

  • Interesting. My fan sometimes tends to pick up speed at times though it isn't freaking out at this time.

  • its a damned plane XD:D

  • that happend 2 me 2 i just took out the plug and put it back on

  • i think you culd use that as a air boat lol

  • nop PSU.

  • Hey there, I am having the very same problem! Seems like there is something wrong with this particular model from Dell. Called the technical support team and have to pay to get fixed which is RIDICULOUS! Anyone got it fixed yet? Kind regards

  • a mi me paso lo mismo y no se como solucionarlo. lei los comentarios y dice que es un virus y no se como quitarlo.

Ya no tiene garantia y nisiquiera sale la bios.

  • how many RPMs is that fan?

  • 5500RPM max.

  • its taking off did you install plane software latly then thats why lol and its panicing

  • And flight 717 is ready for take off.

  • That'll keep it cool

  • Yup that is bad, happen to mine and my harddrive went about 3 days later.

  • haha, welcome aboard this British airways flight. Please take a moment to view the following safety information. lol

  • haha now thats a supercooled computer ;]

  • well... contact dell(even though thier service sucks)... maybe it is because of the 3.2GHz under the fan... but yeah... that is still bad... mine is silent, even running

    1080p!

  • 1080p = nothing to do with processor...

  • I knew dell were planning on something to do with airlines.

  • that's nothing compared to a dell server when they're working properly they sound like a 747 taking off i wouldn't want to be around one if it had the same problem as this desktop

  • You're probably burning all the hardware in there from the over voltage i think. My psu burned a pin on the motherboard before the comp wouldn't boot. Before that, I had this noise, but only when I'd turn off comp after a bsod.

  • Go and sit on your computer

Turn it on and fly to Dell HQ

    ???

    Profit !

  • now you know that the fan is at least powerfull

  • i just got this problem yest. Dell is coming to my house to repair it, was it a major expense to fix? jw.

  • i got an 8400, no problems since 05'.

  • Same thing happened to my 8400.Bad motherboard aswell

  • attach 5 more fans to the computer, and you've got a jet plane!

  • "Bing, Bong" Could all passengers ensure that their seatbelts are safely fasten, the aircraft is about to commence its take off !! lol

  • rofl....... grats on puttin a hair dryer or someting in your comp

  • countdown 5.4.3.2.1. BLAST OFF!

  • i bet you if you leave it on for sometime, it'll start flying XD

  • thank you lady`s and gentalmen we are ready for take off

  • Lol ah! She's gonna' blow! :L

  • wow that happend to my 8400 also. i was freaking out and didnt know what was going on. i just immediatly unplugged it.

  • wow that happend to my 8400 also. i was freaking out and didnt know what was going on. i just immediatly unplugged it.

  • cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

lol that sounds like a jet (OR MY XBOX 360 lOl)

  • My 360 sounds like that 2 gets anoyying maybe one day ill just buy my own fan and put it in the 360 ....

  • mine does that when it decides to crash on me for no reason...i have the same series too, man how i hate dell and windows -.-

  • ok first of all dell isnt all that great yes i agree. but windows omg! ther is nothing rong with it at all ive been with windows for my whole life wich is 14 years and i have had no problems and no. im not just lucky im just not a dumass mabey if you took some time to learn aobut windows and pc's you wouldnt be so gay and say it sux! im on a dell i made technicaly right now becuz i took some old parts and mad this dell run counter strike source! and i have no problems with it

  • i even took the fan out of the psu after it died. i am runing this pc right now without a fan in the psu for about 4 hours! so u just dont know what ur talking about dells suk! no they dont ok you just cant be computer iliterate!

  • dude that sound swee

  • sounds like a jet taking off

  • Yeah, mine does it. It worked for me just to open the case and clean everything out. I've heard that if you pop the Ram out and back in it works too, but I haven't tried that one.

  • it is a specail virus that triggers emergance eviroment system with cools it of att all costs but it is forcing it all the time so you can not use the pc ever

  • its good for overclocking? :*)

  • you can't overclock a dell ;-)

  • Dell XPS yes.

  • i find its stupid by dell!

you can overclock a xps but can't a dimension Oo

and you get not only an oc bios!

    Never again dell!

  • You know why?

Because dells are not cooled properly. NO CPU FAN. they use the 'green thingy' (an actual DELL TERM) to cool both the CPU and case with one fan.

  • i have in my dimension E520 5 Fans!

    an the cpu is 17°!

  • youre special

  • i mod it^^

becouse, i OC my graphiccard! it get 120°C !!! i need a lots of fan^^

  • He's right. My Dimension 9200 barely reached 40° Celsius with Core 2 Duo on full load (coding a movie for iPod) last summer, at idle it stays at room temperature. You have to keep air inlet and outlet clean though.

  • With air outlet I mean the flanged grid in the back of the cooling box inside the chassis, not the back of the PC

  • 24v on a 12v fan?! god that thing has power! a bit of overkill, dell? Expecting a lot of heat?!

  • yeah fan speed on the bios set to highest in bios if you have lcd try changing them in bios 2 easy

  • it is a virus it does edit the core temp in you windows folder somewhere and sets it to -20 so itll think its to hot

  • its a virus that edits the core temps tell the pc it is like 10000 c so it dosent shut down becuase i know it would burst into flames insted it goes into emergancy cool down mode wereit trys to make its self 20 c to live

  • lol thats not a virus u noob ..

thats a fan test on bios..dumb noob

    f12 on boot sector mate

  • My 8400 has done the same thing. I easily fixed it after calling support.

  • i want that virus so that i can have my computer cool down

  • dose the mobo still work exept for the fan

  • wow ur com hav turbo engine

  • you prob got virus that told your pc its really hot soo it turns your fans up high and anys the fuk out of you my freind got a viruse that told his pc it was realy cold and the fans shut down and it set on fire when he told me i crakedd upz!

  • The only thing worse than you're writing skills are your computer skills. A "virus" that tricks your computer into thinking it's too hot, huh? Better diagnostic. Power supply fan. Why? Maybe voltage is out of the +/- 5 or 12 volts. Replace the power supply, problem fixed.

  • dude r u fuking shiting me ur fuking retartded i dont even wont to talk ot uahaahahhah triiped its enviroment system emergencey cool down ahahah u fucking shit dik r u kiding me wow um ur retarded

  • Another possibility is the units environment system has tripped and it's emergency cool down mode.

  • wow... "ill own u in any game noob"... that will settle the score...

  • dude stfu what the fuck r u talkiing about before +/- shit?? 12v pwr to 5 my dick

stfu like i had told you u dont know what rails are! ok so stfu!

  • yikes.

  • Now that's called good cooling.

  • AH CRAP. My 8400 has never done that before, mainly cos i take good care of it..but shite, mite as well shove a pratt and whitney PW4000(747-400 engine) into it...

  • Man that was a fast fan! If it went any faster, I am sure that it would have blown up!
