Interestingly the Danish accent shares a few characteristics with the north east English accent, particularly in east Yorkshire, due to Germanic and Viking settlers in the dark ages. While people in southern England lost this somewhat due to the Norman invasion, it still exists in the north east where there was less Norman influence. I'd wager northern English children could pick it up faster with correct pronunciation faster than any other non-Scandinavian/Germans.

Danish is considered difficult because the unusual sounds. Hopefully one can become a good mimic as it will be a huge advantage. This fellow is naturally a good mimic as some of us are. We simply got lucky in that department, yet the real key is a' burning desire' to learn a language so that one works very hard to get it right and becomes a good mimic if it is in them, just as an art student copies fine examples and discovers the process comes easily to them and learns in the process.

You can say "jeg er amerikansk" but usually we say " jeg er amerikaner"

"En meget Tysk" means "a very german". Instead of this, you could say "en del tysk" (a part german if you translate its direct meaning)

I think it will be diffcult. Modern danish is 70% influenced by german, but we didn't adopt the grammathics, and the pronounciation of danish is quite unique.

Thats you it is so hard to learn I think.

But you are more than welcome to try. We LOVE foreigners learing danish and I promise you a lot of help from us if you try.

Oh and if you really wanna get lost in the danish pronounciation - try learning southern-judlandish... even people from Copenhagen cannot replicate or sometimes even understand that properly.

hahahaha :P this guy is danish himself :P the danish language is probably one of the hardest languages to learn in the world because of our 3 extra letters and our special way of pronouncing words. You can easily hear from the first word of danish that he spoke that he was danish. It doesn't even come close to the dialects that other countries have when they try to pronounce our words :P
