  • Robert Shaw is a boss

  • Farewell, Bruce, Farewell on this sad day

  • You can't beat a good sea shanty.

  • Awwwww this scene always makes me laugh and what an amazing film with unbelievable actors in Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss...Pure class. It's a shame Dreyfuss and Shaw hated each other whilst filming this movie.

  • @nickmellor34 Maybe so regarding Dreyfuss and Shaw, but it is probably part of what made them both so convincing.

  • I think this was 1st sung by British soldiers and sailors fighting in the napoleonic wars in Spain...

  • 24 hours is like 3 weeks!

  • this is the only version of this song i can find on youtube with the modification to the lyrics and the tune. does it have a different name? its driving me nuts!

  • @misfitsmhm Most versions I've found are sung in minor key...Spanish Ladies (England), Yankee Whalermen (Boston/New England), and Brisbane Ladies (Australia). The tune he sings is closest to The Ryans and the Pittmans, the Newfoundland version, but he still uses the words of Spanish Ladies.
