@2010mustangfootball Defensively Nebraska may come close to the 1995 team's level of play, but our offense will probably be our downfall again. Watson and Cotton should have been ousted after the 2009 season to give our new offensive coaches an extra year to build our offense to respectable levels.
I've been watching college football for a long time and I'd take the '95 Nebraska team over any other team I've ever seen with NO HESITATION. I've just never seen a team that was so much better than everyone they played and the game here was a perfect example of this. This Florida team was an EXCELLENT football team and Nebraska just STEAMROLLED them.
This was the nebraska i grew up to love. The nebraska now is just DUMB! Yet i am still a fan! I loved when we played teams and every team new we were running the option and we never had a quarterback that could throw very well , yet we dominated teams!...You tell me what team or teams have ever dominated like nebraska running the option, and rarely throwing!! I feel Lucky my being a Nebraska fan! GO BIG RED! I just wish it was the same now!!! But im still a die hard!!
Yeah well, when Osbourne was willing to play a total criminal at RB who is now serving a 10 year prison sentence for the assault on his college girlfriend, who also happened to be an NU women's basketball player, I guess it's easier to get an edge. Currently, Phillips is serving a 31 year sentence, for separate domestic abuse charges, hitting three teenagers with his car, and auto theft.
@AntiSchiff It is interesting that you state Phillips is serving a 10 year sentence then later you state he is serving a 31 year sentence. Which is it? Not that I care, Phillips is a POS that deserves to be locked up for a long time. Anyone who watched that game objectively should easily see that Nebraska would have crushed Florida with or with out Phillips. I can understand why Phillips is vilified but anyone stating that Phillips is the reason Nebraska won the game is ridiculous.
@AntiSchiff Even the dumbest person on earth SHOULD be able to see that we had good enough running backs behind Phillips to win that game HANDILY. Osborne thought he could turn a complete piece of sewage into a good citizen. Obviously just about everyone knew that wasn't possible.
@connor051810 Sure, they were a great team, but this Nebraska team was just so dominate in every game. Miami wasn't quite as dominating throughout the year. I truly believe Miami would have had their hands full with the 1995 Nebraska team.
This team and the Miami 01 team are the best two teams of all time. I give the Miami a slight edge because they were two depth with nfl players at almost each position.
@boxingscience Actually the 01 canes don't have anything on the 72 usc or 71 nebraska team. They are the 4th best team of all time at ABSOLUTE best. Also a very strong case can be made that the 1945 army team was better. Also for the record, those 5 teams are generally top 5 listed by analysts. The top 3 are interchangable between the 95 huskers, 72 trojans, and 71 huskers. The 01 canes are NEVER above #4 and for good reason.
@gamelvr1 Comparing football teams teams 30 years apart is the same thing as comparing technology 30 years apart.......the simplest proof is to look at the size and strength and speed of the O-line in 71 vs. 95.......the 71 team would be destroyed.......
@gamelvr1 ...Are you serious?? They didnt make athletes like they did the last ten years. Guys were smaller back then. And that was a fact. Now a days you have guys 6'4 running 4.5's Thats the type of players the Miami '01 had. Both on defense and offense. On pure athleticism would Miami beat any team, especially a team from back in the 70's. If anything you might have an argument with the 95' Huskers, but not 70's teams. Thats laughable.
@boxingscience Being from more modern era doesn't make them a better team you retard. The fact of the matter is how they comparing how they did in the year. That's the only way to compare who was a better team from year to year. Do you also think that all running backs are better then I don't know, Barry Sanders despite the fact nobody has even come close to his single season rushing record?
This is the best team in recent memory. They did not play one close game and I don't even really like Nebraska. The best team I have ever seen. I would have loved to have seen 93 BAMA against 95 Nebraska.
I meant 92 Alabama you fuckface. You should have known that if you knew anything aboiut college football. Simply a typo. It was a great defense that crushed Miami in the championship.
@axelfbomber With two losses I wouldn't say Nebraska deserved the national title in 1996. In both the 82 and 83 seasons they lost to the eventual national champions fair and square in both seasons. Granted against Miami they could have opted to go for the tie and a split title but Osborne elected not to. He chose to either win it outright or lose it outright. He wouldn't allow it any other way. He lost fair and square and accepted that fate. No title but he became legendary for his class.
@axelfbomber Now I will say you deserved the title in the 1993 season. You beat Florida State but somebody painted the refs pocket green when the punt return TD was called back for a phantom block in the back. Highway robbery.
@axelfbomber but my point was the arguments for them deserving titles in 83,84 and 96 don't stand up to scrutiny. There was a stronger argument for the 1993 Huskers because quite frankly they were robbed in that Orange Bowl vs Florida State.
@axelfbomber They didn't have ANY real claim to either of those titles (the 3 years you mentioned. In 83, they lost outright to miami, they didn't deserve the title over them. In 84, they were a two loss team, both byu (the national champ) and washington were more deserving. The 96 team had two losses, and in a year that the top 5 were loaded with great one loss teams, they had no claim whatsoever.
What?..florida was the underdog,WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!.Also, they gave up 500 yards rushing. And spurrier blames the defensive coordinator?Man,what was he thinking?Sure he went 5 wide in the endzone,he knew his defense couldn't stop them,so he got desperate...what was he supposed to do?Thankfully bob stoops came in to replace the soft as charmin bobby pruett. And of course mike peterson and jevon kearse replacing ben hanks and dexter daniels helped alot as well.lol
@TheGatorfan93 Yes, FAVORED. Sports Illustrated and the Chicago Tribune just to name a couple. The reason cited by both and many others was Florida's defensive speed.
"Also, they gave up 500 yards rushing."
Wrong weren't they?
"Sure he went 5 wide in the endzone,he knew his defense couldn't stop them,so he got desperate...what was he supposed to do?"
Down 13-10 he got desperate? LOL. BTW not counting the bowl game Stoops' defense had a higher PPG allowed. Pruett wasn't soft.
@TheGatorfan93 Yes Bobby Pruett is obviously a fairy fannied wuss. He only went 94-23 (.803 winning percentage) at Marshall with two undefeated seasons, six conference titles, 5 wins in 7 bowl games, a I-AA National Championship the year after Spurrier scapegoated him for getting pounded by Nebraska, and a top ten finish only 3 years after he moved Marshall up to Division 1A. Yeah that was addition by subtraction. His defense had a better ppg average than Stoops did the next year. What a POS
@mongoose704 ''had a better ppg average than stoops did the next year''
Barely, but i already explained why, florida outscored teams in 95,in 96,most game stats were skewed, because they were blowing teams out more convincingly, earlier in games.Try watching the actual games.Ever heard of the term ''stats sometimes lie'' ,get it now shit for brains?
@TheGatorfan93 And as I pointed out, you contemptible twat for brains, you have provided zero evidence that the 96 gators were blowing out teams "more convincingly" than the 1995 Gators while I showed proof that your argument can apply just as equally to the 1995 Gators which blew out teams. So you idiotic fucktard, admit you got absolutely crushed in a debate by me. Stoops was a lateral move with regard to defensive coordinator. Furthermore Pruett turned out to be a damn good coach.
@mongoose704 ''you provided zer evidence that the 96 96 gators were blowing out teams ''more convincingly''
lol the proof moron, are the GAMES themselves!See,you actually have to do this stupid little thing.its called...WATCHING THEM! First game of the season vs sw louisana or somebody,At tennessee,vs lsu,vs south carolina,at vanderbilt. These were all games,in which florida had huge leads going into the second half, and in garbage time second stringers gave up points.(wipes hands)im done with ya
@TheGatorfan93 Okay so you know who they played but still can't provide a shred of evidence. Sigh. here you go twat fer brains. Some of the 1995 blowouts that skewed defensive statistics due to the emptying of the bench
35-14
28-0
28-6
37-6
31-0
42-0
31-3
Want more, idiot? God I know more about your team than you do? Your argument applies just as much to the 1995 Gators.
I know my history. QBS better than Archie Manning in college. Peyton Manning, Ken Dorsey, Eric Crouch, Roger Staubach, Vince Young, Tommie Frazier, Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart, John Elway, and Joe Montana.
No archie manning is not the gretest of all time. sorry bud. The greatest usually win heismans and lead their teams to chamipionships. he wasn't even the best of that era. During 1970 Jerry Tagge was winning championships and Johnny Rodgers was winning the heisman. I respectfully disagree about Archie Manning. I stay true to my previous list. And I didn't even mention Turner Gill, Billy Sims, Irving Fryer, Gale Sayers, Jim Brown, OJ Simpson, Barry Sanders. I guess this subjecive is subjective.
Florida wasn't NEARLY as good here as the next year. The defense was much MUCH better.Though the scoring average was the same, they had to outscore people to win in 95.In 96,the games were over by halftime, and the second stringers skewed the points against average.Oh and it doesn't hurt having a couple nfl all pro's jevon kearse and mike peterson as your linebackers,as opposed to ben hanks and dexter daniels. lol
@TheGatorfan93 The 1995 Gators gave up fewer points per game if you don't count the bowl games (which is what the NCAA counts.) In fact the reason cited for Florida being favored over Nebraska was that their defensive speed would stuff Nebraska's I-Option. The argument about second teamers applies equally to both 1995 and 96. Spurrier had to blame somebody for this utter ass whipping so he blamed the defensive coordinator. He should've blamed himself. 5 wide no back in your own end zone??
MR 813 Florida. I respect your comment about Tebow but it is just not so. Tebow is not top five. what has he done to be top five?? Being competitive means little. Sure it is subjective but here is my top ten list. 1. Archie Griffin 2. Charles Woodsen 3. Tommie Frazier 4. Dave Rimmington 5. Adrian Peterson 6. Reggie Bush 7. Red Grange 8. Vince young 9. Ndmaukong Suh 10. Hershall walker, 11.Earl Cambell. what about Bo Jackson? Jerry Rice, Randy Moss. Tebow one one NC on his own and one ht.
This is the most embarrassing Nat. Championship loss ever, I think USC vs OU 2004 is the 2nd worse. Tommy Frazier ran thru the Gator D like a hot knife thru butter.
@hvillio22 That was pretty bad too. I still think Troy Smith shouldn't have won the Heisman that year. He look so slow vs da Gators; Darren McFadden from Arkansas shoulda won... Also Ted Guinn Jr. got hurt early in that game, they didnt have a deep threat after that.
@Mr813Fla And the Gators were a fantastic team. They beat everyone by at least 11 and beat three top ten teams with ease. Despite Nebraska being the undefeated defending national champions and having utterly crushed everyone and three top ten teams, Florida was favored by many. Even after the embarasssing 38 point loss, they RETAINED their #2 ranking. Had Florida won the game they would be called the greatest team of all time.
@mongoose704 Da Gators had a great team, they just wasnt ready for the Cornhuskers option... and UF played so sloppy; but here is the kicker Tommy Frazier is from Bradenton, Fl, I bet UF, FSU and UM were kicking their self in the butt for not recruiting him
I'am a Georgia Bulldogs fan and when i was a little kid it felt so good to see Nebraska beat Florida like that because Florida beat our ass that year , so i would like to say thank you Nebraska and O'yeah 95 Nebraska BEST TEAM EVER.
@Gatorface100 There is no such thing as never. I am a Buckeye fan. It is important to remember your mis fortunes. Most Florida fans obviously did not remember their mis fortunes when they beat us. Bad games happen and you can not be great for ever.
Might be off with that one. The CURRENT Florida teams probably wont get beat like this---but Florida had a very good team going into this game. And who knows what would happen if the Gators enter another down period (which happens with almost all college football teams----just look at Nebraska the last decade). If Florida has another down period, that increases their chances of getting beat like this again.
every time i watch this i sit there and think to myself dam florida got they ass beat if only some body would do that again i would record it and play it over and over a comfortable score would be ohio state 68 florida 0 and then another oregon 62 florida 0
I watched the game as a kid, the entire game Spurrier had this taking a shit look on his face, after running up the score on other teams he got his just rewards in that game.
"Oh and they don't have him yet..., look at Tommie Frazier, how many tackles can one man break?! Touchdown!!" - one of the best quotes in college football history
The 95 huskers were so good, there were stories in SI saying this team could have beeten several NFL Teams that year.. ALSO, Every starting player, exepct Tommie Frazier went on to play at in the NFL . 5 of the starters were walk ons!! GO BIG RED!!!
I love the Husker fans doing the gator chomp. Its one thing to have a losing record against Texas buts its another thing to have a 20-5 record against the SEC! Better dead than Gator orange. Bless the oracle Tebow, please. Everyone knows who they would draft to build a college team around. T.Frazier first, C.Ward or Charles Woodsen second. Tebow maybe in the 125-130 range. Just commenting about the absurd talk about Tebow possibly being the greatest college player.
Best team ever agreed, perhaps in ANY team sport...this is was an incredible beating which, if memory serves, could have been 14 points more in Nebraska's favor if there hadn't been an early whistle negating a TD and Coach Osborne hadn't kneeled at Florida's ten yd line to end the game. Amazing performance.
@josh19852008 I'm right here. We got our asses kicked that game. Did Florida ever recover as a program after this? I bet they never even got close to another national championship after this game...........do you?
@bturner20 LMAO! Your right here? Than why do all youy Florida fans bash on others for having bad games? You or they have obviously forgotten there mis fortunes!
@josh19852008 You asked where we were. and I am right here. Ohiop State does suck. You know this. they lay eggs in championship games. Done it more then once.
@bturner20 LMAO dude get a life! We have more championships and won more championships. So what we lost two. I dont hear your fans talking about their mis fortunes though! Fair weather fans and band wagoners pretty much sums up Gaisville Florida and most Florida Gator fans! You guys choked away your perfect season! So Florida mus SUCK!?!?1
@josh19852008 Dude, get a grip. This is not the NE way to rub peoples noses in it! We have plain helmets with a plain N for a reason. We don't advertise or boast. We just go out and do the job. Please grow up and be a responsible Husker fan. You are representing our entire state. Grow up Goddammit!
@bturner20 They will be this year. AND since when was Florida always relevant? See now your ignorance is saying Florida has always been great. Same can be said for Bama and look where they are now!
@josh19852008 More silliness from people. "Yeah, well, Florida hasn't always been good! Where were they in the 70's?" What people forget is kids today don't care about how Florida was before they were born. All they care about is Florida has always been good as long as they have been alive. To them, that is all the tradition they need.
@bturner20 More silliness? I am a die hard Buckeye fan! I how ever do not act like most Florida fans do I remember our rough years in the 80's and the heart breaking years under coach Cooper! Yet it seems I still know more about other teams than most fans know about theirs. I am just asking the simple question. Florida fans want to bash on others mis fortunes but where are they here? You may be 1 but your not the 1000's of piss poor Floida fans.
@bturner20 Now dont take it offensively. I do not know what kind of fan you are. I just remember this game. Like miami fans bash on us for our so called tainted championship when most analysts a few days after the game. At the end they said bad call and a few days later they were all saying it was a good call. Not to mention th fact that we beat them in regular game time to.
@bturner20 The refs fucked up what was a clear catch in bounds by Chris Gamble that would have let us run out the time. Than we had to beat them again in OT. When I show Miami fans the facts then they want to say well if you wouldnt have taken out Willis McGhee. Well if Texas wouldnt have lost McCoy...... oh wait those are just IF!
@bturner20 I have nothing against Florida. They had some great teams here lately. I used to like Tim Tebow until it turned into the TEWBOW SHOW. Many forgot he had a great team and coach around him. Chris Leak gets credit for their 2006 NC not Tebow. Some said well he played and I say who got them there? Not to mention the fact whether you played or not everyone gets a ring.
Funny thing about that is Bama was only Not great for about 10+ years most kids from the new generation dont realize Bama has been a major football power for decades. They were strong from the 1930s to early 1950, then Bear took over and from 1952 to 1982 I believe they were Ungodly. They were still contenders for about 10 years after that, then were simply Strong again, .. and now their back.
Not really people have learned or copied their system. Nebraska won for numerous reasons, one of which is they always had a better weight training system and strength training than other schools, honestly in the 90s they had millions invested in on campus training, gyms, trainers, weights, doctors, etc. So of course other schools with money invested in what nebraska had to avoid beatings, other schools also upped their coaching personnel to beat the Nebraska formula.
Thats why you saw good teams have alot of come from behind victories against Nebraska when the empire was crumbling for them in the late 90s or so. They started playing pro form Defenses, locked down Nebraskas pass to run offense, and surged ahead of them, it became a common tactic. Whenever something like the mid 90s Nebraska team shows up, people tend to react, dont worry dude theyll be back though.. too much money there.
@Faelsun I completely agree with you. It was great for Bama and Nebraska is coming back. What people do not see is so is the Big 10. We have a lot of solid teams last year and this coming year. Ohio State is a great program and always has a shot. I am a die hard Buckeye. People though who do not understand like band wagoning SEC fans and people that speak badly about Ohio State have no idea wha they are talking about. Every team has good games, bad games, good years, and bad years.
LOL I'm from SEC country and I can tell you from experience they are over rated. They play each other tough, but as soon as they face off against a modern offence like Scal they get raped. The SEC gets over rated because they have figured out how to generate a TON of cash with marketing and Bowl games. The Big money schools in each division hold it all together really,
The fans are either Aloof like Ms. State, or assholes like Auburn. .. with no in between really.
@Faelsun They are no better than any other top teams in the top conferences in the country. What the SEC has as far as schools is depth. They have more major schools in football. I beleive every conference is over rated to a point. I just wish they would put every conference on a even playing feild as far as the BCS goes.
I wouldn't call them Major schools as much as well marketed Schools.
Hell 6 wins in the SEC people act like you did something and put you in the Top 25, then the SEC champion plays Nebraska or the Trojans and gets assraped by choice.
So yeh over rated conference. Think of it this way they usually play games outside of the SEC against teams like NE Louisiana and shit, there scared to death to play Southern or Memphis,.. its not a guaranteed win.
@Faelsun According to Florida fans and SEC band Wagoners they have been winning for ever when really it was just Bama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, and many more.
Shit Florida was barely decent until the late 80s. It was really the Spurrier era that put them on the map. I'm old enough to know better. Back then it was Alabama... some teams dreamed of actually Beating Albama much less an SEC championship.

gamelvr1 1 year ago
@gamelvr1 Nebraska Football 1993 = 12-1 (2-point loss to FSU), 1994 = 13-0 (National Champions)
1995 = 13-0 (National Chapmions), 1996 = 11-2 (TX lucky), 1997 = 13-0 (Nation Champions)
In 5 years a 63-3 record.....not to bad......never been done before or has been since......

This Nebraska team was possibly the best ever.
The offense was so dynamic with Frazier's abilty
to keep a defense guessing what the heck he was
gonna do next.
The Cornhuskers looked like a precision machine
on offense and the defense was very good also.

''florida being favored''
What?..florida was the underdog,WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!.Also, they gave up 500 yards rushing. And spurrier blames the defensive coordinator?Man,what was he thinking?Sure he went 5 wide in the endzone,he knew his defense couldn't stop them,so he got desperate...what was he supposed to do?Thankfully bob stoops came in to replace the soft as charmin bobby pruett. And of course mike peterson and jevon kearse replacing ben hanks and dexter daniels helped alot as well.lol
TheGatorfan93 1 year ago
@TheGatorfan93 Yes, FAVORED. Sports Illustrated and the Chicago Tribune just to name a couple. The reason cited by both and many others was Florida's defensive speed.
"Also, they gave up 500 yards rushing."
Wrong weren't they?
"Sure he went 5 wide in the endzone,he knew his defense couldn't stop them,so he got desperate...what was he supposed to do?"
Down 13-10 he got desperate? LOL. BTW not counting the bowl game Stoops' defense had a higher PPG allowed. Pruett wasn't soft.
mongoose704 1 year ago
@TheGatorfan93 Yes Bobby Pruett is obviously a fairy fannied wuss. He only went 94-23 (.803 winning percentage) at Marshall with two undefeated seasons, six conference titles, 5 wins in 7 bowl games, a I-AA National Championship the year after Spurrier scapegoated him for getting pounded by Nebraska, and a top ten finish only 3 years after he moved Marshall up to Division 1A. Yeah that was addition by subtraction. His defense had a better ppg average than Stoops did the next year. What a POS
mongoose704 1 year ago
@mongoose704 ''had a better ppg average than stoops did the next year''
Barely, but i already explained why, florida outscored teams in 95,in 96,most game stats were skewed, because they were blowing teams out more convincingly, earlier in games.Try watching the actual games.Ever heard of the term ''stats sometimes lie'' ,get it now shit for brains?
TheGatorfan93 1 year ago
@TheGatorfan93 And as I pointed out, you contemptible twat for brains, you have provided zero evidence that the 96 gators were blowing out teams "more convincingly" than the 1995 Gators while I showed proof that your argument can apply just as equally to the 1995 Gators which blew out teams. So you idiotic fucktard, admit you got absolutely crushed in a debate by me. Stoops was a lateral move with regard to defensive coordinator. Furthermore Pruett turned out to be a damn good coach.
mongoose704 1 year ago
@mongoose704 ''you provided zer evidence that the 96 96 gators were blowing out teams ''more convincingly''
lol the proof moron, are the GAMES themselves!See,you actually have to do this stupid little thing.its called...WATCHING THEM! First game of the season vs sw louisana or somebody,At tennessee,vs lsu,vs south carolina,at vanderbilt. These were all games,in which florida had huge leads going into the second half, and in garbage time second stringers gave up points.(wipes hands)im done with ya
TheGatorfan93 1 year ago
@TheGatorfan93 Okay so you know who they played but still can't provide a shred of evidence. Sigh. here you go twat fer brains. Some of the 1995 blowouts that skewed defensive statistics due to the emptying of the bench
35-14
28-0
28-6
37-6
31-0
42-0
31-3
Want more, idiot? God I know more about your team than you do? Your argument applies just as much to the 1995 Gators.

I know my history. QBS better than Archie Manning in college. Peyton Manning, Ken Dorsey, Eric Crouch, Roger Staubach, Vince Young, Tommie Frazier, Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart, John Elway, and Joe Montana.
dwmackey1 1 year ago
No archie manning is not the gretest of all time. sorry bud. The greatest usually win heismans and lead their teams to chamipionships. he wasn't even the best of that era. During 1970 Jerry Tagge was winning championships and Johnny Rodgers was winning the heisman. I respectfully disagree about Archie Manning. I stay true to my previous list. And I didn't even mention Turner Gill, Billy Sims, Irving Fryer, Gale Sayers, Jim Brown, OJ Simpson, Barry Sanders. I guess this subjecive is subjective.
dwmackey1 1 year ago
Florida wasn't NEARLY as good here as the next year. The defense was much MUCH better.Though the scoring average was the same, they had to outscore people to win in 95.In 96,the games were over by halftime, and the second stringers skewed the points against average.Oh and it doesn't hurt having a couple nfl all pro's jevon kearse and mike peterson as your linebackers,as opposed to ben hanks and dexter daniels. lol
TheGatorfan93 1 year ago
@TheGatorfan93 The 1995 Gators gave up fewer points per game if you don't count the bowl games (which is what the NCAA counts.) In fact the reason cited for Florida being favored over Nebraska was that their defensive speed would stuff Nebraska's I-Option. The argument about second teamers applies equally to both 1995 and 96. Spurrier had to blame somebody for this utter ass whipping so he blamed the defensive coordinator. He should've blamed himself. 5 wide no back in your own end zone??
mongoose704 1 year ago
@mongoose704 , the nebrsaka I-opption was one of my plays i used in high school as a QB that was my junior year, I ran for 1800 yards and 19 TD

The Ohio State-Florida NC game a few years ago was pretty embarrassing too. Thats probably #3 on the list.
hvillio22 1 year ago
@hvillio22 That was pretty bad too. I still think Troy Smith shouldn't have won the Heisman that year. He look so slow vs da Gators; Darren McFadden from Arkansas shoulda won... Also Ted Guinn Jr. got hurt early in that game, they didnt have a deep threat after that.
Mr813Fla 1 year ago
@Mr813Fla And the Gators were a fantastic team. They beat everyone by at least 11 and beat three top ten teams with ease. Despite Nebraska being the undefeated defending national champions and having utterly crushed everyone and three top ten teams, Florida was favored by many. Even after the embarasssing 38 point loss, they RETAINED their #2 ranking. Had Florida won the game they would be called the greatest team of all time.

@mongoose704 Da Gators had a great team, they just wasnt ready for the Cornhuskers option... and UF played so sloppy; but here is the kicker Tommy Frazier is from Bradenton, Fl, I bet UF, FSU and UM were kicking their self in the butt for not recruiting him

josh19852008 1 year ago
@Gatorface100

@hvillio22 Yeah you have a good point.

@bturner20 They will be this year. AND since when was Florida always relevant? See now your ignorance is saying Florida has always been great. Same can be said for Bama and look where they are now!
josh19852008 1 year ago
@josh19852008 More silliness from people. "Yeah, well, Florida hasn't always been good! Where were they in the 70's?" What people forget is kids today don't care about how Florida was before they were born. All they care about is Florida has always been good as long as they have been alive. To them, that is all the tradition they need.
bturner20 1 year ago
@bturner20 More silliness? I am a die hard Buckeye fan! I how ever do not act like most Florida fans do I remember our rough years in the 80's and the heart breaking years under coach Cooper! Yet it seems I still know more about other teams than most fans know about theirs. I am just asking the simple question. Florida fans want to bash on others mis fortunes but where are they here? You may be 1 but your not the 1000's of piss poor Floida fans.
josh19852008 1 year ago
@bturner20 Now dont take it offensively. I do not know what kind of fan you are. I just remember this game. Like miami fans bash on us for our so called tainted championship when most analysts a few days after the game. At the end they said bad call and a few days later they were all saying it was a good call. Not to mention th fact that we beat them in regular game time to.
josh19852008 1 year ago
@bturner20 The refs fucked up what was a clear catch in bounds by Chris Gamble that would have let us run out the time. Than we had to beat them again in OT. When I show Miami fans the facts then they want to say well if you wouldnt have taken out Willis McGhee. Well if Texas wouldnt have lost McCoy...... oh wait those are just IF!
josh19852008 1 year ago
@bturner20 I have nothing against Florida. They had some great teams here lately. I used to like Tim Tebow until it turned into the TEWBOW SHOW. Many forgot he had a great team and coach around him. Chris Leak gets credit for their 2006 NC not Tebow. Some said well he played and I say who got them there? Not to mention the fact whether you played or not everyone gets a ring.
josh19852008 1 year ago
Funny thing about that is Bama was only Not great for about 10+ years most kids from the new generation dont realize Bama has been a major football power for decades. They were strong from the 1930s to early 1950, then Bear took over and from 1952 to 1982 I believe they were Ungodly. They were still contenders for about 10 years after that, then were simply Strong again, .. and now their back.
All in all its been good for Alabama.
Faelsun 1 year ago
Not really people have learned or copied their system. Nebraska won for numerous reasons, one of which is they always had a better weight training system and strength training than other schools, honestly in the 90s they had millions invested in on campus training, gyms, trainers, weights, doctors, etc. So of course other schools with money invested in what nebraska had to avoid beatings, other schools also upped their coaching personnel to beat the Nebraska formula.
Faelsun 1 year ago
Thats why you saw good teams have alot of come from behind victories against Nebraska when the empire was crumbling for them in the late 90s or so. They started playing pro form Defenses, locked down Nebraskas pass to run offense, and surged ahead of them, it became a common tactic. Whenever something like the mid 90s Nebraska team shows up, people tend to react, dont worry dude theyll be back though.. too much money there.
Faelsun 1 year ago
@Faelsun I completely agree with you. It was great for Bama and Nebraska is coming back. What people do not see is so is the Big 10. We have a lot of solid teams last year and this coming year. Ohio State is a great program and always has a shot. I am a die hard Buckeye. People though who do not understand like band wagoning SEC fans and people that speak badly about Ohio State have no idea wha they are talking about. Every team has good games, bad games, good years, and bad years.
josh19852008 1 year ago
LOL I'm from SEC country and I can tell you from experience they are over rated. They play each other tough, but as soon as they face off against a modern offence like Scal they get raped. The SEC gets over rated because they have figured out how to generate a TON of cash with marketing and Bowl games. The Big money schools in each division hold it all together really,
The fans are either Aloof like Ms. State, or assholes like Auburn. .. with no in between really.
Faelsun 1 year ago
@Faelsun They are no better than any other top teams in the top conferences in the country. What the SEC has as far as schools is depth. They have more major schools in football. I beleive every conference is over rated to a point. I just wish they would put every conference on a even playing feild as far as the BCS goes.
josh19852008 1 year ago
I wouldn't call them Major schools as much as well marketed Schools.
Hell 6 wins in the SEC people act like you did something and put you in the Top 25, then the SEC champion plays Nebraska or the Trojans and gets assraped by choice.
So yeh over rated conference. Think of it this way they usually play games outside of the SEC against teams like NE Louisiana and shit, there scared to death to play Southern or Memphis,.. its not a guaranteed win.
Faelsun 1 year ago
@Faelsun According to Florida fans and SEC band Wagoners they have been winning for ever when really it was just Bama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, and many more.
josh19852008 1 year ago
Shit Florida was barely decent until the late 80s. It was really the Spurrier era that put them on the map. I'm old enough to know better. Back then it was Alabama... some teams dreamed of actually Beating Albama much less an SEC championship.
