@OhMyKromi This product, like previous Leica cameras, were designed to last for decades, it's something that you'll be able to hand down to your grand-kids one day as an heirloom. The leica m9 has a full frame digital sensor without any aa filters in front of it. If Canon or Nikon were to make an equivalent camera maintaining the same body size and sensor design, then it'd cost about just as much.

all those who wanna get good "image quality", forget leica and just get a hasselblad 500cm or something like that ,or even better is ,get a large format camera. both come in less than $300 used. Someone who needs 18mp full frame, just get a 5d mk2. those who dont want the size of the 5d, just get A used leica M3 for about $1500. I'd take it out in heavy rain and test it against a Fuji x100 then state to the World that the Fuji isn't as good - oh sorry you've already done that with the basic M9 - you know the one now worth loads of money less than people paid for it because of this new model.

In Europe there's a trend for MAT black paint (which costs loads more) on expensive cars - perhaps Leica can upgrade the M9P next year with that finish ?

total rip-off this leica m9p, leica took some of the features off the m9, who were already sitting on the m8, now leica puts it on a leica m9p, and sells it like it has new features.. only good thing about the m9p is that the red dot has gone, but ducttape works fine too.

The Leica M9 is a gimmicky toy camera. First they came out with the titanium model. Now with sapphire. Next thing you know they will offer a gold or platinum model with diamond inserts. Sure they are beautiful to behold. Do they produce great images? Definitely NO - poor high ISO performance, no AF, and very poor JPG output make this toy camera utterly unforgivable.
