Absolutely one of the most precise and professional quality bird training videos ever! Great job!! Thanks for sharing. Where can one acquire such props?
@discodiva079 maybe he/she is disinterested or needs some gentle persuasion like a treat millet spray or apple ? but if your budgie keeps showing disinterest dont force them . budgies are very fragile and prone to developing flu's and another nasty illnesses and die just from the minimum of stress that's why I advocate patience and making the lesson a fun learning experience . what you can try is turning the skateboard over and letting him nibble the wheels to get him interested in hopping on
Thankyou to everyone who posts the nice greetings and observations its much appreciated and warmly welcomed we enjoy making these videos for you and I will endeavour to make a little less repatative in the future for those posting negative responses in regards to that LOL . but I'm glad my point was made in anycase regarding the handelling of budgies when training them to learn these tricks as CARING for them is my FIRST priorety :))))
@Sk8birds I found the repetition a bit annoying too but I completely understand why you did it because some people get too obsessed with showing off their pets as show pieces like a circus act which might look like spectacular tricks but if it means pressuring and stressing the pets making them uncomfortable when they perform then it can become cruel instead of fun.U r right to balance the concept of training with good care for the bird's well being- and well done Mick you did so well gorgeous<3
@neelubird Thank-you for your lovely comment and UR very insightful origionally I made th video for 5-7 yr olds another reason 4 th basic style and repataive nature but adults showed interest 2 which is great & much appreciated :)) & U R indeed correct about some people training their animals as show pieces and circus acts I love my birds they are family members & they love the tricks they learn I just enjoy putting their joy out there for others to experience & share and to learn from 2:))) X
yes that's right your budgie is not a toy and though they look very cute in these videos & very happy which they are ! its because I supervise and care for their health they are little birds and need supervision & rest and should not be pressured into activities like the ones demonstrated unless you you are educated in the area of training them which I am &endeavor 2convey methods to you , I'm glad you have understood my repative IMPORTANT points.so use them ur budgie will bhappy & well
continued - if your gentle and very patient and do this activity slowly he will become very confident with being handled around the wing area and face , back tummy and feet which will make him quite easy to teach , if you look at my videos you will note my birds a very happy being trained there not stressed . It is very easy for me 2 handle my little babies which makes training & grooming much easier too such as cliping nails and other .
Maybe he could have been a lttle annoyed his wings were clipped , they are very sensitive about their wings and is it any wonder why ? ;) if he,s happy on your shoulder than your progressing nicely and should continue with this arrangement , you can also try other methods of making him feel secure too you can try cupping both your hands into a cave like formation and gentley feed him through one hand at a time repetativly this technique will not be readily appreciated at first but ...
@Blazestalker100 Maybe you should take away the perch, or go to a different room? Also, since he's only five months old, (since you might not know yet) experiment with toys to see which are his favorites and only give them to him outside when he's not on that perch.
some budgies are a little shy and reserved much like some people are ? it takes time to build their confidence ur budgie sounds like he has this nature, Train him in a quiet room provide mikllet spray -from petshop ) or carrot sticks ,celery to encourage him obviouisly his perch is where he feels most secure so try to start2 carry him on your shoulder from now on to build a bond between you both if he runs of keep gently placeing him back on your shoulder until he feels safest there
i actually have 3 birds, but theres this one bird, first one i got, its been taking a loooong time. I kinda figured out hes changed alot lately. He talk ''budgie'ish'' all the time, and now hes doing it when im around. Earlier he never did that when he could see me. he is also copying some sounds i use to make, headbob and doing funny things. he have never been in this mood before. he sometimes answer me with a budgie sound when i speak to him.
@Sk8birds Maybe it means that now is time? it looks like i should try keeping him on my shoulder, because he seems much more happy, just out of nowhere. been like this the last 4-5 days. hes actually starting to fly again after being unable to do so the first 4 months i had him. do you think that might be the reason i had trouble with him? maybe hes being angry and depressed all the way?
when you have established a bond and you and ur shoulder are his safe place as oppossed to his perch then he will be more keen to learn tricks with you , and there are some very easy tips to start with to build his confidence and eagerness to play and learn with you I'll discuss those tips with you l8tr 4now each time you take him out of his cage pop him straight onto your shoulder and not onto his perch area practice this each day and remeber to offer water and food during this process
@Bachnaify smart question ! yes it can be which is why my video is EXTREMLY repatative , I'm sure some people think i sound silly and a bit un-cool stressing points throughout the lessons but I care about my birds and anyone elses birds who are being trained to do these tricks I am very deliberate about the points of training during the video I dont want people to force their birds into this kind of activity if the bird is not interested in learning ithis that's cruel & I dont advocate that
can i ask? how do u teach him not to fly around without clipping their wings out of their cage? in a closed room with they be hard to get bck on ur finger once they are let out?
I try doing this but whenever i put my parakeet on my toy skateboard, they just jump off right away and when i try to move the board, they keep flying around the room,! DAMMIT :( and this bird deserves a treat!!
@animalcrueltysucks98 LOL :))) you are so right it was hard to film him cause he was so eager to play on his board he had a great time as you can see , and he was very patient in most scenes because all he wanted to do was skate as it is one of his favorite activities :) so funny to think of a little budgie having such an interest it still impresses me how intelligent beautiful and individual animals are just like us people :) and they should be treated with the same respect !
@ARCHBALDS confused ? I've played back the video cant here monkeys , lions , or ticket sellers ?? but thanks for the compliment one can only dream of such a wild and extordinary lifestyle I saw a movie recently call I bought a Zoo it was really nice , so any lifestyle choice is possible these day's I 'll keep hoping :)) you keep smiling now !!
@sonicchamps Sure thing sounds good ! just remember to include love respect food and water and good accomodation on your list ,your budgie is not a toy he's a friend and your his too :)))

@gottaluvbirds yes it is I train all my birds to have fun with tricks any species of parrot can learn just takes time and gentle patience all my birds love to learn and have fun give it a go with yours using my budgie method :)
@Sk8birds THANKS!!! and btw, have you got any advice on how to make them not scared of it, my tiel loves toys, he just doesnt seem fond of the skateboard at the moment o.0
@gottaluvbirds hi there . best way to encourage a shy bird is with some treat incentives such as millet spray or fresh fruit such as apple or grapes .. birds will also go gaga for lettuce and celery too. place any of these around there toys or on their toys and allow them to explore the treats and toy together that way the new toy will become assosiated with a treat or reward then you can begin to gently encourage them further with their new toy . hope this helps ? let me know how you go ok .
@24789mike Its good I made that point clear and I thank -you for confirming my points :) as it is important to remember as I repatativly stated . As your budgie is a friend he/she is not a toy :))
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH I laughed so hard when you put him on the ramp switch and he spun around to regular.. (I sound like an idiot to anyone that doesnt skate)
I tryed to teach my budgie, but i can put him on fingerboard only. And he started attacking me, i think he stressed. My budgie 7year old, can i teach him ride on fingerboard?
@LuigiDM no not really I have worked with Budgies that are 6 years old straight from the petshop and angry and biting because they were not tame , but after four weeks there as friendly secure and interested in learning as a baby would be just be patient and sincere with your bird establish a good bond bfore anything else that's the key :))
Hi Animallover11486 Some birds don't like toys & need encouragement they have colour prefrences too . Try using some treats such as millet spray or fruit next2 your budgies toy and allow him/her to explore the toy in this situation . I don't do this myself but I have heard that it can work . I spend heaps of time handelling and bonding with my birds before any training begins ,they learn trust games like rolling onto their backs and lying still in my hand then I move onto toys and tricks
Can you help me with a question? what if your parakeet flies away or jumps off or is scared of the skateboard? and where do you get that little skateboard obsticlae course thing? PLZ HELP!
omg i wanna try that! i have an eraser thats a skateboard and u can actually roll it cuz it has plastic wheels and i put my parakeet on it and when i push ir slowly the thing almost falls and my birds fly away lol!

I have a problem.. my budgie ''dont want to''
whatever i wanna do..
he perch my finger, but hes first thought is, ''hope he takes me to my perch''..
if i try to take him to the floor to play, he just walks away, going to hes perch..
i dont wanna do ANYTHING than sit and chat, on hes fav perch..
id say, hes boring. he dont wanna interact, he like remote relationship the best -.-
i had him for 5 months, he is setteled, and i spend every day, in the same room as him and talk to him..

I tryed to teach my budgie, but i can put him on fingerboard only. And he started attacking me, i think he stressed. My budgie 7year old, can i teach him ride on fingerboard?
Oadire262 6 months ago
@Oadire262 im not a trainer but i think the older they are the harder it is.
LuigiDM 5 months ago
