  • it was a guaranteed hit. the way the buck jumped and kicked, it's a hit. 2nd, the chance of a deer jumping a xbow string @ 15-20 yards, never.. you doubt? here's a test. set up a decoy @20 - 30 yards, set up your camera beside the target then shoot.. you would be surprised at just how quiet it is. the sound doesn't register until the bolt is at the target, and that's in the open, without all the trees & leaves dampening the sound. we've shot @40 yards and never had 'em jump the string. nice try.

  • decent video, but the camera man should've zoomed in a bit. I only saw the deer for a split second and then he was gone. I'd like to see more with the actual deer in frame.

  • 3 days pa crossbow opens i cant sleep!!!!

  • man god damn i must be blind but this must be the shitiest huntin video ever or i aint quick enough, where did he prove he shot a deer with a crossbow? i didnt see shit!!!!!

  • nice shot, the speed of a bolt is going so fast deer don't stand a chance.

  • all and i use a 3/9 50 scope and 2 deer i sgoot in the head at 40 yards what a cross bow

  • hi i use a strikyer cross bow at 404 and iv killed 5 with it and some have been looing at me when i have shoot them at 80 yards and i hunt from the ground no need for tree stends any more with it

  • Did I see it wrong or did you reload that bow an the attempt to lower it down right before the video ended ???

  • I'll bet 100 to 1 that it was a miss. A cross bow that does not have a silencer on the string sounds like 22 rifle. A deer will hear the sound long before the bolt (arrow) reaches the target and is out of the way of the bolt.

Just do some math, the speed of sound, 670 ft per second: cross bow bolt, 312 feet per second. Which gets to the deer first. Hence, the deer is has moved before the bolts hits it.

I have learned the value of a string silencer.

  • first of all, it wasnt a miss. the deer ran about 40 yards and piled up. the deer was quartering away from me and the arrow went in just behind the ribcage through the vitals and out the front shoulder.

Secondly i shoot 4 or 5 deer a year with this set-up and have yet to have one "jump the string". I have missed due to human error but have yet to have one as you describe jump the string. You just have to wait for the proper shot angle, and be sure the deer isnt alert when you shoot.

  • Cool video, i killed a doe & a turkey with my excalibur equinox in Oklahoma last fall it was a blast !!

  • You didn't notice the deer arch it's back and it looked like the deer kicked out its back legs indicating a good solid hit. I've taken several with a bow and the way a deer reacts will give you lots of info on the type of hit you made.

  • My father too shoots a similar set up and has the exact same results as i do.

The crossbow also sounds alot louder as the actual camera (not the remote lens) was in my pocket which was right beside the stock of the crossbow.

    Thanks.

  • Interesting. What you are saying is that within around half a second, a deer can hear a sound in its ear, compute that the sound is a threat and its brain tell the muscles to flee in reaction. Then the deer has to actually be able to move its body out of the way in that same half second of time. Amazing, yet sadly for the deer, impossible. And, by the way, the speed of sound is actually 1129 ft./s. giving the poor deer really about .75 sec. of retreat. - Still impossible.

  • 1,125 ft/s

  • @Junkbuggy actually the speed of sound is just over 1100 fps and idk what crossbow you heard that was as loud as a 22 but u should probably go back to the guy who tuned it and tell him ud like him to fix it before u lose a eye or finger i mean jesus if ur gunna comment and talk stupid atleast get ur facts right...o wait i forgot none of them where

  • @Junkbuggy yea, it is THE FLASH DEER.

  • @Junkbuggy Huh? Didn't you hear the arrow smack the deer? Vegetarians....

Awesome shot man - way to go!!!

  • I'll bet my last dollar that it was a miss. From that distance, a deer will be gone before the bolt(arrow) reaches the target. The noise of a cross bow (without a string silencer) sounds like a 22 and the deer hears the sound before the bolt gets to the target and will jump away. Do the math with the speed of sound vrs a cross bow's bolt at 312 ft per second.

I have learned the hard way.

  • shouda let it go for next yr

  • It sounded like it...Where did you hit it though?

  • You need to show us the deer after it is down. That way we know you made a good shot. It sounded like a hit, that's all we know. Check out my camera set up on my PA Bowhunt 2 and Pa Groundhog Hunt. I think you will like it better. Good Hunting!!
