  • I haven't even watched this series yet, heard it was good, looked up my favourite Queen and Henry's true wife in my eyes... found this... watched this and started crying. Catherine was a remarkable Queen, dignified, faithful and loved by the people. Maria Doyle Kennedy portrayed her beautifully

  • In real life, Katherine was considered to be very attractive. I dislike how they always pick actresses for her that are a lot less appealing than the mistresses and other wives.

  • Katherine of Aragon was the equivalent of Princess Diana back in the day she was a popular and beloved queen who the people admired.

There was no other queen who was as popular as her until Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.

If Anne Boelyn has not been the mother of Queen Elizabeth should possibly would not have such a name today.

  • She paid such a high price for all the bad luck that fell her way. If Arthur had lived...if her son with Henry had lived...if she hadn't been separated from Mary after Henry divorced her history would have been very, very different. She was burned by the misfortune of an unlucky life.

  • moral of the story. nice girls always finish last

  • @fleurgi So do bad girls, I think Katherine's death was a better death, than getting beheaded.

  • @Hattaru true dat

  • long live katherine :(

  • Actually did you know that queen victoria inscripted in Catherines grave "The Queen of England" and not to Anne or Jane or etc.

  • that's because Anne and Jane were never rightfully queens. I'm an Aragon fan and I find Anne and Jane equally repulsive

  • @marianamejia Really!!!, wow I never knew that, what a wonderful Queen, and rightful so, because Catherine was h is true wife, no if ands or buts, it was the truth, puls she was his wife for at least what 20 years right?

  • @Hattaru Yes! and it was Henrys only true love. Jane or Anne were a... delight

  • @marianamejia I agree, LOL hehehehe.

  • If it had not happened the way it did the world might be different but destiny and fate dictate. Catherine nor any of Henry's wives were able to give him a male heir. The ironic part is that the two Queens who were the biggest influence on Henry bore him two of the most remakable Queens in English history. Being a Spaniard, I am extremely attached to Catherine. She was not intended for Henry originally, but fate and destiny bid differently. She died the Queen of England. Henry's truest wife.

  • I don't believe Henry loved any of his wives. Not for one second. Katharine of Aragon was the only one of his wives that loved him.

  • well you see about anne, she really didn't love him and she was forced like you said. but henry did not loved her either he used her just to have sex, basically. she looked easy reason why cause history says she was opposite from other women, so he use her like that but anne's father saw it as a chance to change the king into his way, by making anne believe he will son, second reason why he used anne, for a son and he knew katherine was to old to give him one, though anne failed as well.

  • Henry ruined Anne Boleyn's life. She wanted to marry Henry Percy, and he took that away from her. She was his toy for years, and then he discarded and crushed her, much like he did to Catherine Howard. He ruined Jane Seymour's life too. I feel sorry for all of Henry's wives, except Anne of Cleves- she survived him AND got a royal deal!

  • You are right my friend, Anne did love Henry Percy. til Wolsey found out and told the King, before he knew Anne. And yes Anne of Cleves sure as hell got lucky!!! thank god!

  • okay i remember reading a book of catherine and henry when they were young, henry REALLY did love catherine because she was his first true love and probably will always be so i do feel bad for not liking queen catherine of aragon, she was henry's true love and first true wife, even though i like anne boleyn, anne was in henry's eyes probably somewhat a mistress, even though he married her, and he only proclamied jane as his true wife because she loved him well but gave him a son.

  • personally speeking, i have a strong empathy with katherine as she was his true wife, and to some extent loath anne, but i agree she shouldn't have been executed, for the sake of elizabeth, and even for human life, but Anne was ruthless when it came to katherine. Katherine was like the wronged wife, and Henry did love her, truly, even when she died he did love her, we can see that as according to the Venetian ambassador he cried when he received news of her death and read her last letter.

  • well i do agree that katherine was the wrong wife and was not the one to derserve so much pain, nor his other wives. but you see i like anne because she was actually not in love with him she was forced against her will, and then she became ruthless by taking advantage of some of henry's powers by abusing katherine. but seeing this does change some of my thoughts, i mean many things can change when you like one thing but then see another thing and understand that side of the story, you know.

  • I totally agree, because when I first read about henry's wives i used to admire anne, but then after that, I read in more detail especially about Katherine and learnt her fate and it just moved me how a woman could be treated so badly I ended up loathing her, but thats the thing, Anne WASNT in love with henry, she was just ambitious and was using henry, even though she was forced, but she could have ended it but i do feel remotely sympathetic with anne, only due to her unfair death

  • well, she couldn't have really stopped it. The king was in hot pursuit of her, and he wasn't going to take no for an answer. I don't think you understand women had no power back then unless they were queens regnant, like Elizabeth or Mary. That's why so many women went to convents, because they were safe there from the demands of their fathers and husbands. So Anne didn't really have a choice.
