you want to spread your legs out diagonoly back, contracting them back to the middle while swining your arms in the middle of side to side and north to sounth.
@Wodey25 well then you are retarded. it's simple math. if you get just as fast and agile as you used to be without weights with the weights on. you will be faster and quicker on stops and turns when you take them off. it helps.
@orr1278 actually, the best skaters (cogliano, raymond, crosby, ovechkin) use wide strides and side to side arm movements as opposed to the traditional swing forward that used to be taught in hockey schools. The side to side is taught all around Canada now.
@HarmanSin ... wut? thats one of the most retarded comments i've ever heard, I've received power skating sessions from NHL skating instructor, you do not want to swing side to side, it counteracts the north-south movement of your legs and you end up twisting your body instead of going in a straight line
@Leclerc2342 First of all, neglecting my comment by calling it retarded does not make you sound smart. Second of all, Cogliano is the one of the fastest skaters in the NHL. He swings his arms side to side. Some plug in the NHL named Hall does it too.
@Leclerc2342 Then your NHL skating isntructor is complete idiot for telling you that. Try to stand still in hockey stand and start moving your arms back and forth. You will not go ANYWHERE. Now start swinging your arms sideways as far as you can reach (not bent elbows), and see what they will start doing with your body. With no single stride, you will start getting propelled forward. I am expert in teaching skating, and trust me, I know what I am talking about! Skating is different than running!
thats first kid when u turn ur not supposed to have ur feet practically right infront of one another because in a game if u did thatt u would get hit over more easliy but good job
