Yea.. I've tried that on single player and to be honest, its not really that fun. What I usually do is, (firstly) get a decent team and camp on the rooftop, the stairs or the little room under the stairs. We go through the game play properly , kill the two tanks and normally we restart once or twice, and we end up at the heli normally with green health.
i prefer just having every one but you stay inside the hospital. have them come up to the roof with you clear the place and send them back down to safe room. gives a 90% of everone winning (but the loser who has to do the radio lol)
anyobdy have this happen to them when i first got l4d for x-mas i jumped right into verues mode and they were camping by the ammo and guns instead of going to the helicopter pad they stayed there and the fucking heiclopter picked them up it flew down right beside the windeow and they jumped threw the windeow into the helicopter i was like o thats where the heilcopter picks u up...wierd cuz ive never played that was my first time and never seen it happen again wtf!

The heli has scripts, yes, but it's direction could not be changed without the scripts themselves or the object spawner being changed up. It never happened, stop lying to look cool.
