It's annoying when this is refered to as a "Novelty" record. It is anything BUT a novelty record. John's singing is full of fun and humor, but is delivered with authority. And the bands playing.......what a joyful bashing! Tight and white hot.
How are things in Transalvania?????...ha hah aha ahhaha
This is one of my favorites off the Looney Tunes record from the 70's.
Once, while with my Grandmother, the electrcity went out, and we entertained her by singing word for word this song and a lot of others off of the album.
All the while a violent storm raged outside.
She brought it up every time I saw her after that. Love you Mama Faye, you were/are the greatest!
Yes folks - this song is indeed available on CD. Search for "The Cameo-Parkway Anthology", a multi-CD package with lots of rock 'n' roll classics, and more forgotten gems like this one.
I used to love watching Zacherly performing as Roldan on his weekly TV show in the Philly area when I was young. This song has a really kick ass rhythm section ... great guitar licks and a sax performance that would make Clarence Clemmons proud. More than 45 years later it still sounds great.
Happy Halloween y'all, from New Orleans -- the most haunted city in America. From Dean Shapiro, October 24, 2010. I remember listening to Zacherly on radio and TV as a kid in NY and, after arriving in New Orleans, I quickly learned there was (still IS) a similar "mad scientist" here named Morgus the Magnificent. He's great too and is always a big hit around these parts on Halloween every year.

Funny how the very openging seconds have a sound I miss and seem to enjoy. The dust hitting the record needle right before a good song comes on.

Holy crap. Having the video be a feed of the record player is the greatest idea I've seen on YouTube in a long time.
