  • Death to Windows!

  • oh so linux was developed in my country? well this was a suprise :D

  • I browsed all the videos in this series and it seems to be a pretty good step by step video Howto for installing Mepis Linux.

You will not "LEARN LINUX" per se but you will find most of what you need to know to install and use it as a beginner.

Good job all around though. Long Live Linux in all its diversity!

  • I really wanna start to programming with computer. So , where I should start? Any advice? Thanks

  • Linux is not based on UNIX! It's inspired by UNIX and works similar.

Also, Linux is a kernel, GNU is a toolkit GNU/Linux is a complete operating system.

  • Linux is a kernel its not an OS GNU/Linux is the OS

  • youtube is for videos. If I wanted to learn this way I'd look...anywhere else on the web?

    Sheesh.

  • I can't run ubuntu, or kubuntu, so now I am on Xubuntu

  • Tux is cute :P

  • Extreme Great Video's,Wow I love them.5 Thumbs Up!I am sending all of my soon to be linux noobs over here to watch your wonderful video's.Your video's are way better then me trying to explain what linux is to a lot of noobs that I come across because I fix WinDozzze Pc's for a living & I try to switch as many as I can over to linux or even OSX,& yes I still like windows,I just spend most of my time on(unix based sys)Mepis Linux,Puppy Linux,Dream Linux & PCLinuxOS 2007 KDE / PCLinuxOS 2008 Gnome.

  • Can I get Linux and still use windows on the same PC without downloading VirtualPC? lol

  • Yes, it is pretty easy to do, especially with Ubuntu.

  • yea ubuntu the best linux looklike :D

  • Ubuntu is linux, it's not a look alike...

  • yes =) Ubuntu now has options to install from inside of windows. It's not a virtual machine-- you do actually boot into ubuntu when you boot your pc up. The good thing is you have less of a chance to mess up your boot record.

Google a guide for it. "ubuntu windows install"

  • I'm an engineering student and want to learn Ubuntu Linux.

Will these set of videos help me?

At the end of the 40th video what will I be capable of doing in Linux?

  • The first 8-10 vids will be helpful for any Linux user, including Ubuntu users. After that, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

  • Tux is awsome :D

  • Thanks for the tutorial but i want on ubuntu 7.04 ..well it is ok :-) one thing more if u can help me I want to upgrade me ubuntu 7.04 to beryl if u can help me in any way i shall be highly thankfull to u

  • This series of tutorials might come in quite handy. I'm planning on building a computer in the near future and was thinking of installing and running a Linux OS on it :) I have my reasons :P

  • Enjoy - I'd like to build my own computer sometime.

  • i dont want to delete windows how do i dual boot or make a partition for mepis

  • That is what my videos are about. Chapter 12 Repartitioning the Hard Drive shows how to partition the hard drive to make room to dual-boot Linux. However, I do suggest you watch all the videos before attempting to install Linux in a dual boot configuration. And of course, back up your data first!

  • wow i look back this comment in embarassment ive got vista , kubuntu and leopard triple booting right now and i must say they are all amazing platforms but my favorite has to be leopard.Thankyou for all your videos you helped more than you'll ever know! :)

But linux on over 10 of my machines alongside vista on some & XP/linux on others,But Freevo Linux for (Media Center) Action.

  • Whoa. Out of 40!? I'm burning Knoppix to a CD as we speak

  • I'm glad you're trying Linux.

  • Just to clarify, this is 40 quick chapters that instruct what Linux is and how to install it and use it. It would be 40 whether it was Knoppix, Ubuntu, PCLOS, etc...

  • As soon as I get the time to install Linux, this video series will be incredibly useful. Thank you so much.

  • You're quite welcome...
