It had (still has) a pair of CHEAP headers when I bought it in '98. Somewhere around 2000, I had a muffler shop replace the rest of the exhaust. Told him I wanted a nice, low rumble. That's what I got!
@ElderlyIron yeah i was thinking about a set of flowtech headers. is there anything you could suggest for that rumble? i was thinking maybe good old straight pipes. 2 1/2'' of the headers, just behind the transmission an x pipe then inbetween the cab it will cange to 3 or maybe 4 inch pipe to sort of chamber it.
wow that thing is geared low good thing there is fords in the neighborhood to drag you home when it inevitably breaks down ,,,, i just kidding i like the ol gmcs anoher good vid jeff
i got a edelbrock 600 on my 75 chevy 350 i built and dropped in my trans am and the damn accelerator pump is leaking on it so i gota get the parts or put my holly on it
I had to rebuild the Edelbrock 600cfm performer carb on my 72 chevy pickup with a 74 4-bolt main 350, but after buying the rebuild kit, and doin the rebuild, i found that the carb itself was bad. oh well. i ended up buying a used edelbrock performer 750cfm, and the truck runs better now than it did with the 600cfm! go figure! great video Jeff! I love that ol GMC!
Great vid! I could suggest using a dishwasher next time, gets carbs (and valve bodies for that matter) looking like new. Just don't do it when the Mrs. is around.
OK, I finally got back to watch the rest of it and again I have to say, I really enjoy the commentary that goes along with what you are doing when you are doing it. You got it ideling a little lower than I would like for myself but since it isn't for me, I guess it's just fine! Thanks for the video and info!!
Hats off Jeff, you sure know your stuff.I instinctively flinched when the carb cleaner almost got the camera.Once in the eyes and you'll never ever forget it.I used that lean drop when you told me about it awhile ago on my Scout and it worked out great.Love that nozzle you have for the air as well.
What would you say the total job time was? Thanks for all the great videos.
Another great video from Jeff. Your videos are always either interesting or actually useful. Which is getting hard to find on youtube. Always waiting for the next one.......
Great view. Your stories that go along with the videos make them that much better! We called them Quadrajunk among our circle of friends back in the day. If you clean it first that is just that much less muck you have to deal with later! I love your parts tray, it looks just like mine. - I watched till the jet broke. I will finish later! Thanks
i use old cookie sheet when taking apart carbs... it helps not looseing little bits...i bet if ya asked at any national brand name garages nobody there could rebuild a carb....
i have a 85 chevy 3/4 ton with same intake but holley and no problems but motor little beefed up also though lol
