I LOVE your show! Its so nice to listen to someone who have such a good connection with the cats and their raw nature :) Could you perhaps make a video sometime on how to handle anxiety with shelter cats? I saw you had one video out but im thinking more as in anxious about sounds, new people, scared of children etc. My cat was a nervewreck when i got her and even though she has come a long way she still needs to get a bit of confidence in herself. She is scared to death with my 2 year old nephew
sorry for the conintue messagaing this way but for some reason my computer won't let me do it (please PM me and I can explain the whole story regarding my question)
PLEASE HELP Jackson Galaxy please help... I have two cats that have come from abusive histories one was abandoned outside in the middle of winter in 30 below weather he was just a kitten at the time the other was neglected and mistreated with his litter mates before going to the shelter and later being adopted by me... Anyhow to sum it up they both appear to have severe bandonment issues my friends say is its because I coddle them to much. You give such great advice I was hoping you could help
Thank you, JG! The litter box is one of the first places that signs of illness or stress show up, and I use my daily scoop-fest to take a barometer of my cats' health. Amount, frequency, color, size, shape, smell – everything tells a story. I have one box per cat plus one extra, with two different types of litter (clumping and clay), and it makes all the difference in the world. Scooping is MUCH easier and faster, and the felines are happy. Thanks again for posting!
So glad you posted this. I had someone really pressuring me to do the automatic litterbox and I thought it was just to expensive. Plus one of my babies had UTI once so now I watch for that religiously. Plus I've read a review about the "soup" it makes when cleaning- Gross!!! Scooping sounds a lot less nasty.
Oh thank God. This is so helpful! For a second there, I thought you were going to say I was doing something wrong because all I have are two plain dishpans that I scoop out once a day! Also, one of my kitties has IBS and after our trip to the emergency vet, I do not dare miss checking out that poop. Not fun, gotta be done. Any words on kind of litter? I tried to switch to a wheat based one but it got mealworms in it. Clay ok?
Thank you for pointing out the negatives about the automatic cat litter! I for one always thought it's not as great as people make it out to be considering it can malfunction. Not to mention if there was a health issue with one's cat how would you know if you can't check if they have been doing # 1/2 or even how it looks or smell. I mean come on! If one can deal with changing a baby's diaper what makes scooping a cat's poop or pee different. Can't wait to see this week's episode! TC!
I believe in everything you said EXCEPT cleaning out the box every 6 months! omg... We get a cleaning & fresh litter once a week - everybody is Happy. Love you Cat Daddy! You ROCK!
Love Your Work! Keep Up the AWESOME Job! Also I have a question please; How many cats is it appropriate to use one litter box? If I asked that right lol. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Thanks! I feel like less of a freak now. I scoop every night, and am always relieved when there are the right amount of "leavings."

@rasheeda5477 The ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society and others recommend one litter box per cat plus one. And they should be LARGE.
