  • Those toms sound fucking terrible

  • i fucking love this band so creative and different thanmany other metal bands out there BTBAM is always epic

  • Mind = blown how he did triplets on the bass while hitting the hi hat just like im so confused and blown away. He's just to awesome

  • @kingzeroman one of two things. he's either really good at single bass, or using the sean reinert technich of playing the hihat with the heel of the foot and the bass with that ball of the foot.

  • @kingzeroman He's clearly starting the beat with his left foot and hitting the hi-hat and kick drum at the same time with the same foot. The hi hat pedal and kick drum pedal are so close to eachother he can hit both with the same foot.

  • @x2xtreme360 thats what I was thinking just wasn't sure.

  • Jizzum

  • Now I can definitely say that he is not a metal drummer. He is a MUSICIAN.

  • @nagmalitongyawa what a fucking stupid statement

  • very chris pennie influenced

  • @liledman76 That bass hi hat rudiment is pretty much the exact thing Chris does for his solos, I love Blake but he definitely is kind of copying Pennie.

  • @TheVeregat While this is true, Chris Pennie is not the only one that utilizes the rudiment. Derick Roddy among others.

  • @jutter84 Ok well he might do a similar rudiment, but not for his main solo............which Pennie play every show.

  • 1:00-1:06 SICK O_O

  • If you cant appreciate Blakes talent then you dont belong around music... c:

  • I love Blake. He's my favorite drummer ^^

  • Hey whats the song at the start of the vid please..

  • @30aenima986 Swim to the Moon off of the Great Misdirect Album

  • 5 people obviously know nothing about drumming

  • Eh it was ok

Nah really this was freakin amazing! :D :D

  • o hey jesus

  • one of the best young prog/metal drummers on earth (Navene Koperweis?) Sean Reinert would be proud. His timekeeping (on outrageously complex songs) is dead perfect, precise, and awesomely powerful. A really cool country boy too.

  • what's the song right in the beginning from 0:00 to about 0:10? It sounds mad familiar, but i can't think of who it is! aha

  • @ArtOfTheEnemy The Vampire From Nazareth by Septic Flesh.

  • 3:20 Mike Manigni´s Fill!

  • blake richardson - neal peart.

  • I think I just splooged

  • okay 3 minutes in...what the hell just happened.

  • At 2:29 it seems a gojira - art of dying cover :) :)

  • @Hysteriabmx Never picked up on that!

  • Comment removed

  • yea that was fucking dope

  • Listening to Prequel to the Sequel right afterwards = jizz

  • oh my god

  • What is the song playing right before the solo?

  • @chrispysthename323

Sue me if I'm wrong but I believe it's Swim to the Moon

  • @xXZANIK101Xx That is correct. They didn't play the entire song live. They pretty much started somewhere in the instrumental section, played through quite a bit of it, and then went straight into Fossil Genera - A Feed From Cloud Mountain, which was amazing IMO. The transition flowed so flawlessly.

  • Well, my life is complete...I'm gonna go commit suicide now.

  • we neeeeeeeeeed more blake

  • @mitchellolol uh my name isnt btbametal

  • did the rapture happen cause i didnt know jesus was back on earth

  • another metal guy having to grow his hair out fuck... but id give anything to whip my hair while circle head banging

  • @TheHideousRevelation I don't really think its cool that john Bonham is dead haha.

  • Well after further evaluation...Orbin could certainly play what Blake plays...and is an outstanding artist. But, can he write, perform, and master songs such as those that appear on Colors, TGMD, and Paralax? quite uncertain. I am glad to finally hear from someone who isn't obsessed with Joey J., Neil Peart, and Jordan Mancino. No offense to them, but Halpern...yes. Dude is unreal. The exact reason Bands like BTBAM, Periphery, and AAL tour together, appropriately.

  • @xXnewmanatorXx I'm glad that John Bonham is dead. He was sloppy as hell, and he just plain sucked. No one gives a fuck that he was good at the half time shuffle. Now if only the rest of Led Zeppelin would just die.

  • @alexkills shitty troll, fuck the hell off

  • @TheHideousRevelation umadbro?

  • @alexkills yes :(

  • #1. Impossibly talented.

  • 1:10 that is the most insane gravity blast i have ever seen.

  • 2:52 "FUCK YEEAH!!!!!"

  • Blake, You're awesome as always lil bro!!!

See ya when ya get home!

  • That ostinato groove is SO DAMN SICK

  • Wow !!!! C'est la découverte musicale du mois !!!!!!

    Great drummerr !!

  • Amazing drummer and a huge influence on my own playing!

Also, Blake with long hair? Yum!

  • fuckin sick ! great talent and creativity

  • This was on my birthday. I was going to drive down to see them... They are my favorite band. But obviously therapy is more important. FUCK

  • @bloodfang100 Obviously your therapist is a cocksucking motherfucker. Just saying.

  • @Mrcrazy80 No she is really nice... blame my sister.. she signed me up for it.. fucking bitch.

  • @bloodfang100 Women...

  • I wonder what it's like to be in a band with such a sick drummer

  • @andrew12398

the whole band is mind blowingly talented the same way Blake is.

  • I sense a Dennis Chambers influence after the one-handed roll...

  • i want more blake richardson... and also i want Matt Greiner on a sick drummer video!

  • @rjdrums26 blake is wayyyyy beter than matt

  • @drumsallout they just play differently, and they play what suits their band's music style. I like both the same but BTBAM and ABR are two separate sounds, and that means their drummers will be.

  • @rjdrums26 Yes I agree but to say that Matt is even close to blake in skill is not giving blake credit. I have seen them both play 3 times and Blake out drums matt by a lot. Matt is still a fantastic drummer though

  • Ya this guy is good and all. But John Bonham is still the best(he played for led zeppelin for a good while for all you who haven't a clue who im talking about) he will for ever be the best ps this guy can suck it

  • @xXnewmanatorXx I'm not denying that John isn't good because he definitely is but I've never seen or heard John doing any Poly-rhythms in his playing which Blake can do almost instantly without building up to it. oh yeah ps. stop trolling

  • @xXnewmanatorXx "he played with led zeppelin for a good while" is the biggest understatement ever, John Bonham WAS led zeppelin. But you can't compare the two drummers at all, bonham brought something completely different to the table then this guy. They are both fantastic drummers.

  • @xXnewmanatorXx ur so dumb omg lol

  • FUCK YEAH AT 2:48 to the end!! So sick!!!

  • what will be the next band... I wrestled with a bear? lol -.-

  • @ADEZK there is a band called that

  • @waretafai lol hahahaah xD

  • when i try to get a mental picture of Jesus, Blake comes to mind.

  • Definitely looks like the dude in this vid... Which makes his already incredible drumming that much more incredible.

  • What he does at 1:10 is just crazy. Keeping this beat with his kick and hi-hat while doing what he does is extremely hard. I tried a couple time and cant do shit. Also at 3:10 and 3:20, Ive never seen any other drummer do that hes just amazing. Only 21K views??? Highly underrated...

  • You gotta put up the improv jam from that show.... that was so hilarious hahaha

  • I love how when i look at a btbam video theres always very little btbam videos in the related column. NOT.

  • I drove from Florida to NC to see these guys play and they were fucking amazing, 13 hour road trip was well worth it!

  • @evan258 Indeed...some things in life are better when you have to do a;little grinding for it or driving ;)

  • @sickdrummerdotcom

After seeing Selkies live I can definitely stand by that statement

  • @evan258 You refering to Cool Tour? remember how they alomost didnt play??? i was so bummed till i find out they were going to... haha

  • this is what happens when you're a gifted drummer and you play in a band with gifted musicians that make really good music and push the envelope.

  • What he begins to do at about 3:18 is so technically difficult that I'm starting to think that he's a cybernetic organism - robot skeleton with human tissue.

  • Thanks for letting me know, this guy plays faster with one hand than I can with both....

    FFFFFUUUUUUUU!!!!

  • oh...my...god...many people don't undestrand how much this piece can be difficult...and how much he manages to do it easly...

  • Hey guys, whats that band at the beginning of this video? Thank you.

  • Fuccing unreal speed and coordination

  • Neal Peart, Gtfo :P

  • @cvaa its Brann not Brad

  • Blake is one of my main inspirations for taking up the drums and this vid sure as fuck shows why... \m/ wtf was that that he did with one hand? O_O

  • @Powerslave519 That was a gravity blast

  • This guy is so sick on the drums...

  • neil peart said that blake richardson is the best drummer in the world

  • @pinpoint45 LOL

  • 1:07 ostinato

  • Fucking polyrythms...

  • My favorite drummer ever...way better then all these other drummers these days

  • @d8ms77 fuck ya dude

  • Comment removed

  • hahahhaaha i listen to the best band in the world. this seals the deal.. its on, most talented creative band around?

  • And that's how he beats vnnie, gadd and weckle

    and I love them so.

  • Man I didn't know Blake could blast!! He should put in a gravity blast in one of their songs!

  • @jbtbamjjj Do you listen to BTBAM?

  • @brinninb93 yeah, why?

  • The intro song is Swim to the Moon from the album The Great Misdirect from Between the Buried and Me, not septic flesh... wow

  • @rocktozeppelin Fail. The song at the beginning of the video, before Swim to the Moon was Sceptic Flesh.

  • *in troll voice* the rev is soooooo much better so is joey jordison and travis barker.....lmao <3 blake

  • so basically, this was a cheap mangini solo

  • ...hes fuckin great..i hope ill see them in september

  • @drumsallout

I agree, blake is by far the most talented percussionist I have had the previlege of hearing and seeing. I always wondered if blake ever used gravity blasts, now i know ;)

  • gravity blast ftw

  • now that is a drum solo.

  • I nearly killed myself for not being able to find his solo together with MP from some years back. Now I'm satisfied.

  • 1:25 "WOO WOO WOO!" lmao xD

  • pure portnoy style but more into towards hardcore metal :). i like him!

  • He makes drumming look easier than beating a dyslexic baby at scrabble....

  • Amazing ostinato he does with his feet.

  • FFFFUUUUUUUUU

  • Blake your whole ass is soaking wet lol !!!

  • Yoo man left hi hat pedal is connected to go inbetween every hit of the left bass drum soo bass kicks are n 4 hi hat is n 2 cliclking every 2 measures sick shit though u need a connected hi hat too play both at same time.

  • @Lobones0066 I think hes hitting them at the same time. You can see him adjust the pedal height by loosening the hi hat nut when hes doing that one handed rool. Hard to tell but thats my guess

  • roll**

  • really cool

  • starting at about 1:07 was he doing LRRL_LRRL_LRRL with his feet while splitting the hi hat pedal and bass pedal with his left foot? shit sounds soooooo brutal

  • starting at about 1:07 was he going LRRL_LRRL_LRRL while splitting his left foot between bass pedal and hi hat pedal? shit sounds soooo brutal

  • thanks for the comment,i love the videos and it was great to see u liked it...thanks!:)

  • big influence! i love BTBAM and Blake,i am a 12 year old drummer and i recently posted a video of me doin a solo for a talent show, please look at it and tell me how i did and what i can improv on. thanks, and yay for gravity blasts!:)

  • that FUCKInG polyrythm...

  • Can somebody say Neil Peart would be proud ?

  • AMAZING! The best part is 0:00-4:01

  • 0:59 Gravity Blast by the beast known as Blake Richardson. Fuck Yeah!!!!

  • I can play the hardest beats, but playing solos like that just gets me. How can they do that?

  • Whoafuck!!!! This guy has got fucking style. And Groove. Nice to see a metal drummer who isnt all blastblastblastblastblastblastblastblastblastblastblast. Cos to be fair, Its getting old now... ;-) IS IT FUCK!!!! :-D

  • yeah... he's aiiight.

  • This dude is the most underrated drummer in metal. Better than all these "great" metal drummers.

  • @drumsallout ya i'll admit. Blake Richardson and Matt Greiner are the two best Drummers in this genre or genre similar so far :)

  • @musicmantwj Matt is better than most, but Blake is above Matt for sure

  • @drumsallout i agree with you on that one too :)

  • @musicmantwj correction: matt greiner, blake richardson, and adam gray are the big 3

  • @TheRevProdigy777 tru dat bro :)

  • @TheRevProdigy777 adam gray shouldnt be in with blake or matt, but blake is on a whole other level than matt. adam is good, but only in his august burns red cover band, you should check em out, there called texas in july

  • @meganfoxlover1 lol ownage!

  • @drumsallout

I think Charlie Benante is the most underrated but Blake is on his way to being one of the most recognized drummers of our generation for sure. It's gonna happen

  • @drumsallout The only guy that could cause him some trouble is Alex from Despised Icon imo

  • @turkeysandwich11 No way man. Blake is above and beyond anyone in the modern metal scene

  • @drumsallout Well I'm not like taking away from his abilities or anything. He has better mechanics, but Alex's speed is definitely more made for metal and is unbelievable. Check out MVP by Despised Icon if you haven't listened to him. That's probably one of his best.

  • @drumsallout eh idk bout that, cameron losch, sam applebaum, matt halpern, travis orbin, navene koperweis... all jus as good if not better

  • @TheCompulsionToKill I am sorry my friend...but Matt Halpern and Navene are the only ones worthy of notice...but not comparing to Blake. Cameron Losch? really? ignorance. Sam Applebaum? you do realize that you actually typed that right? Veil of Maya can suck it. saw them live...before btbam. they blew. Travis Orbin? the cover dude? please. listen to more BTBAM. its good for you.

  • @BTBAMETAL dude you are the dumb one learn something about music and drumming. i can see from ur name ur a fan boy so fucking shut up. you clearly have no understanding of anything or you wouldnt say that. stop being an elitist fan boy and wise up

  • @TheCompulsionToKill With all due respect, dude, your name is BTBAMETAL and you're calling him a stupid fanboy. Though i agree with everything you're saying, it's kind of like a pot calling the kettle black.

  • @BTBAMETAL Haha Cameron Losch's tecnique sucks. However, I highly disagree with you on Travis Orbin. He's no cover artist, and he could easily outdo Blake Richardson. Matt Halpern is the white version of GospelChops.

  • @alexkills No he couldn't, and he will never be able to. Matt Halpern is solid though.

  • Nailedddd itttt

  • Love this guy, absolutely amazing!! thanks Sickdrummer

  • Matt Greiner who?

  • @GeetahrNewb whoa man!!! hahaha he's still a beast though.

  • the double handed blasts with the toms at the end were pretty damn intense

  • How did he get those toms to sound like a screaming crowd? Wild.

  • otherworldly. once a generation talent.

  • Comment removed

  • reminds me of Mike Mangini's drum solo. Blake is the man.

  • Killer fucking solo! Awesome video/sound engineering too!

  • The three people who have disliked this, choke on a dick. The BEST DRUMMER right here^^^^^^

  • so uh. carlton dance at 3:10

  • Reminds me a lot of Morgan Agren's drum solos.

  • Borrowed? Maybe he's just heavily influenced by him.

  • 2:30 - 2:43 the mouth licking what you bled by meshuggah
