If someone were to make a death threat to an individual face to face they would be open to prosecution (in the UK at least) so what is the difference between that and such threats over the internet? It seems that YouTube just doesn't give a dam.

I think we all agree that Youtubers need more protection against that kind of thing. It's easy to say "we need to protect Youtubers" but it's more difficult to work out "how we protect Youtubers".

Excellent rant. Online poker rooms track ISP's in order to block those attempting to create multiple accounts. Absolutely no reason why YouTube could not use the readily available technology...... unless..... hmmmm.....do they perhaps place greater value in the number of accounts on record than they do the vbloggers that actually make them some consistent cash? Yeah I had the same problem with the most insanely racist guy posting comments on my profile...I blocked him but he continued posting on other peoples channels. I think the majority of people ignore these losers and after a while the haters usually get bored and leave or find new objects to shoot with a rifle in there backyard. Yeah but everybody knows youtube death threats don't mean shit. Just ppl expressing their anger exaggeratedly because they can't really do anything about it. It's wrong and it's rude, but unless you're dumb enough to put your address and ph.# on your profile, who really gives a shit? Lol, I'm not sure what you've been hearing but YouTube makes ALOT of money, it IS made for profit. The original coders and designers that created YouTube have sold it to Google for billions of dollars, are you telling me THAT'S not profit? And besides, it costs money to pay for the domain its using and the upkeep for the website, so they have to make money. Hugh makes some good free-to-watch videos, stop criticizing him, you DON'T have to watch his videos.

Funny, I actually uploaded a video in which I outlined this same sort of behavior (hate speech), and you know what happened? It got removed. And the sad thing is that duplicate accounts and spamming were involved from their end.
I'm glad yours stayed up. Even though I don't normally watch your show, somebody has to shed light on this foolishness.

youtube has made me seen the best and worst in people.
i find it amazing how easily racism can crop up in ANY kind of video... i remember one of my favourite channels- minouye - someone started commenting about he was just a typically westernised asian and that this was bad. i mean cummon! how do u get that from a video with no racial content
however, the thing that keeps my faith in people intact is that these comments will 9 times out of 10 have over 7 thumb downs
