@MrCarolinarules Do you have any tarantulas or know anything about them?? I'm just curious. It was a low venom insertion due to the fact it was NOT a bite. This was over a year ago and my kids are alway my first priority. I have been a Tarantula owner/breeder/teacher for over 8 yrs and know the reality of each potential venom reaction. He wasn't taken to the hospital nor did really have but a very slight reaction to what little venom did get in.
looks like a dry bite, (no venom was used) even though most all tarantulas have mild venom, if he would have gave him a dose it would have like a bee or wasp sting, do you not know that all spiders like venomous snakes have complete control over how they bite? they can dry bite, give you a little bit or a full dose, they do these to save venom for hunting and usaually only get the full bang if the spider feels endangered, check out my rose hair eating a toad, and im about to get a mex red knee
@Izzysanchez99 My son loosened his hand and Aurora basically just hung out there during the video until my son touched his butt. :-) He didn't even start walking then either, just pulled his fangs out.
Have huge Spiderfobia, but after seeing this I actually got less scared of Spiders, ive always immagined that it would be creepier when they would bite.
@BenjaminKuruga I actually don't have any problem with roaches, actually not with any other animal than spiders. I know why i'mscared of spiders, it's because when I was a little child I picked up everything that moved up into my hand and obviously I did that with a spider which bit me, since then I've always been terrified of them, and it haven't helpt that i've seen ''the mist'' with those spiders which lay eggs in people lol, or Stargate universe, with spiders who has 16 eyes lol
@Effekt47 Don't get a false sense of security because Aurora really wasn't intending to hurt Dyllan so the bite wasn't like it would have been. BUT I can say, I've been bitten to be bitten and honestly, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
@shexdensmore The toxicity is very low in this genes. But Dyllans reaction which was VERY mild, really would have been at least, slightly worse because Aurora wasn't really trying to "bite"
@shexdensmore lmao It was a bit disconcerting to me being Dyllan's mom but Dyllan has a very strange sence of calm when it comes to things most people might freak out about..lol
well, i must say that when i pictured a bite from a t, in my mind i thought that the fangs would go completely in. but, to stop like that, it makes me less anxious to get bitten by them. i want another one so badly.
@GrimSoulBanisher Let me be very clear, this wasn't a REAL bite. This boy wasn't trying to hurt my son, just trying to get out of his hand so he didn't plant his fangs in Dyllan like he would if it were a bite. Bites can hurt depending on species of the T.
@kaydyn1512 what makes it impossible for me to hold these is even though I start out calm as soon as I see the fangs I envision some slimy nasty monster spider squeeling and just climbing up my arm/body biting and squeeling damn that arachnaphobia movie!
@Xxcory11xx Well, I would hope not! Last time I checked, he was alive and well. You realize Dyllan is my son and not the Tarantula right?? As a matter of fact, the Aurora (tarantula) alive as well.
@x16900 I can't imagine that. Actually, now that I think about it, I saw a video of some guy purposly getting bit by a tarantula. I wish I could remember what the video was called. Oh well.
@cokpikes I handle T's all the time and I can tell you, my heart races still after 8 yrs. BUT I never get nervous with A versicolor. I know there are people who have had deffensive versi's but I never have and at the moment, I have 14 of my own not including those for sale. But I totally get the nervousness.
This doesn't really show anything about venom effects. If the T was only using her fangs to gain leverage, she wasn't being aggressive and pumping venom in like she would if striking.
@shire2005 I think its interesting that you found the video so boring but seemed to have the need to make not 1 or 2 but 3 comments. I would hate to see what you do when you love a video. ;-)
Would you say that this is a good spider for a beginner who is terrified of spiders? I want to invest in a starter tarantula to kinda ease me into the hobby. I'm willing to keep her for her entire life time and put in the love and care (Even if I can't touch her for a while) She will be treated like a queen. I just need to find a really gentle peaceful, sweet natured girl to get started with. Also no breeding...the babies freak me out, and males die to soon
@FiestyCat86 This is the perfect beginner tarantula in my opinion BUT as small slings they are more difficult to care for. If you are looking for a female, you most likely would have to get a 2" or larger so it's possible to sex. In most cases Avicularia versicolor are extremely docile. The thing I find is most difficult for beginners with this species is that they do sometimes move pretty fast. Abd for the slight arachnophobic person, that can seem a bit scary.
@FiestyCat86 Really the 2 I recommend over anything else is either the Avicularia versicolor (arboreal-needs higher humidity and cross ventilation but really, as long as you do that, they are my #1 pick for thier beauty from sling to adult and docile nature) or the Grammostola pulchripes (terrestrial-easier to care for-doesn't require the humidity and the same attention to cross ventilation-again, most are docile and handleable.)
@kaydyn1512 So being that I have severe arachnophobia tendencies and catching a small extremely fast spider would pretty freak me out what would you suggest. I would LIKE something pretty (I like the blue ones) but I know she'll be a pet, not an accessory, so more important than that, I'd like a bigger spider with a slow gentle nature. Something that won't freak out while I'm trying not to freak out. I love tarantulas, I think they are amazing but their eats and the way they eat freaks me out.
@MururoaLBN Yes they are!!! It wasn't actually "biting" to bite. My son had cupped him in his hand and Aurora was just using his fangs like a mountain climber would use his/her picks, just to gain leverage. He even put each fang in 1 at a time as apposed to when biting, both go in at the same time. I wish I had the camera on at the time Aurora actually put his fangs in. It would be easier to understand.
@piercing13 I have well over 1000 tarantulas and several other animals living happy and comfortable in my care. I don't consider ANY of my animals as toys and resent the comment. My son did something foolish by cupping him in his hand and what resulted was worth sharing. He didn't prod him, poke him, hurt him in any way. This is for documentation and information.
@axelroach I have an "Exotics room" which have all of my T's, snakes, dart frogs, crested geckos and red eyed tree frogs" Many of my T's are small so housing isn't to difficult right now.
It looks more like a young adult female rather than a subadult male. Versicolor is not an aggressive or powerful species, believe me you don't want to try this with a Poecilotheria subfusca or one of the huge ground dwellers. But first time I've ever seen someone get bitten and just laugh it off, thumbs up!
@Nefelisdiardi He is now an old man and retired :( He certainly was NEVER defensive in any way. This wasn't intended as a bite at all. My son isn't allowed to hold Poecis. I actually let him hold a couple of babies quite a while ago but not anymore. Just don't want to take the chance.
she doesn't look agressive but that bite does look a bit nasty. I'm glad i've not got biten before ^^ does it hurt? or is it just like accidently cutting yourself on something?
@wolfje92 He isn't agressive at all. The bite wasn't really that bad. Because he was using his fangs just a leverage, one of the fangs cut Dyllan's skin instead of making a hole. He says it really didn't hurt.
@Multikill777 Honestly, the A versicolor is the perfect one to ease a reluctant partner with because they start out a beautiful blue and they are soooo cute. Then they turn into the colors this boy is sporting. How can you go wrong ;-) BUT just be warned, they are like Pringles, you can't stop at just one.. lol
@kaydyn1512 He wants to get a puppy but after dealing with previous roommates and their dogs, Idk lol After he's out of the Marine Corps we'll see lol I'll see how having a puppy will be and then start a family lol
@TheGarrrettHB im on my second T...first was rose hair, second is a brazilian black. ive never been bit. neither species is known for biting. be sure to put tank on ground and sit down. its unwise to handle Ts standing up, a fall of over 3 or 4 feet could kill your T(internal damage). the hardest part is getting your T out. use a small brush to herd her out and onto your hand..once on your hand you have little to worry about. eventually youll be able to use your fingers to pick her up.
@TheGarrrettHB i got an adult T to get over my fear of spiders. it worked. they make the greatest pets. dont believe what ppl say, there has NEVER been a documented case of an allergic reaction. no body on planet earth is allergic to Ts, its physically impossible. they lack the protiens that say bees have that cause allergic reactions. now a bite will hurt like a bitch and might mess you up for a bit, but you wont die from an allergic reaction.
@TheGarrrettHB Well, that all depends honestly. There are different potency's to the venom of different genus of tarantula. Some have very low potency and others (IE Poecilotheria) have high potency. The high the toxicity the more painful, long last effects and more symptoms you will have. A rosea are very low on the toxicity scale but that doesn't make any bite a pleasant one. Fangs are fangs. Just be mindful that anything with teeth can bite at anytime no matter how docile they are thought 2b.
@TheGarrrettHB I have two T's, had 4 and all rosies, I have a A. Vic now and before I hold each on I use two letters to get them up first and make sure they are not pissed off. If they flick hair then I leave them be, if not I use the letters to pick em up and then let them move to my hands. I have never been bit but from everything I know it's like a bee sting. If you have bee allergies, do not pic up. GL and hope the best for you
I didn't think that some turantulas would use their fangs to climb since their feet are made for that (well most species anyways). I would not like to be bitten even from my docile G. rosea. I never take for granted that an arachnid even the mildest ones will never bite. I know that some people will cup their turantulas but their is a proper way to do it. Yours, in the video, dosen't seem agressive since the tip is not very deep (I don't know how deep fangs can get into flesh when agressive).
@PF718 Actually, in my opnion, there is no proper way to cup a tarantula. My son was being a dork quite frankly :-) Aurora is a very docile tarantula and really was just finding an alternative to get out of his "trap" for a lack of a better word. I know you can see it in the video but he didn't actually put both fangs in at the same time. I put one in then tried to plant the other further forward (like a mountain climber would place the picks as he climbed) It was obvious, only to get out.
Oh a bite!!Should Be careful the venom from a versi is not that weak as you think i am sure the versi didn't use it.but as Long he has no allergic Reaktion it will Be okay.the fang also has bakteria and thats the Main Thing that can be dangerous!A nice versi by the way.I am sure now He has more respect!Take Care guys
@Tisoyspiders Aurora didn't really inject much of anything because it wasn't really his purpose. He was just trying to get out of a tight spot which was impossible with only his legs. Just an FYI, from what I understand and read, tarantula venom actually lack whatever other insects have that can cause an allergic reaction. :-) Thanks for the reply.
It was found that the tarantulas in captivity are often less aggressive and rarely or inject little venom which is due to the fact that they are often force-fed, or too well fed crickets off tarantulas do not need venom to kill cockroaches or crickets and force quality venim weaken.
Worth more to feed them with large prey.
Starve your versicolor and leave the really bite you and I can assure you that you have a very very bad time and you certainly will find emergency
@malumvires I understand what you are saying but am not unknowledgeable about tarantulas. I don't share information with people if I haven't gained as much knowledge about what I'm saying as possible. I certainly wouldn't have my son hold something that I felt was going to hurt him in the way you describe. There is no doubt that toxicity of tarantulas vary and the reactions can be severe BUT if I just isolate the Avicularia genus, you are way off on the severity.
Symptoms observed with a bite matutu deemed not yet aggressive.
The venom of Poecilotheria wild often causes paralysis complete or half of the body for several hours or even days, accompanied by coma, tremors, heavy sweating, vomiting and respiratory distress ... After sela depends on the dose of venom injected and the weight of the victim and his health, a person with asthma or heart failure is likely to succumb.
@malumvires I have a friend who has been bit 2 times from Poecilotheria. The reaction was severe with pair beyond the thresh hold of many, burning, severe swelling, nausea, muscle cramping, lack of concentration etc etc. Some symptoms lasted for several weeks but the majority were gone within a week.
I saw many people bitten by different tarantulas tarantula decides to bite when really it does with power, it sinks its chelicerae up most of the time without injecting venom for those living in captivity as well fed so it reserve bulky prey.
but when injected venim the flesh begins to swell rapidly and become necrotic and at least one arm or hand is paralyzes several hours depending on the dose injected and sometimes with high fever and heavy sweating.
@malumvires I'm sorry but this statement is so inaccurate and gives wrong information to those who are less experienced. For those old world tarantulas that have the more toxic venom, some of these things can happen. Fever, severe swelling, sweating, muscle craps burning and others symptoms can happen for sure. Necroses and paralyses is not within those symptoms. That is reserved for common venomous spider that can actually kill you. Tarantulas have never killed anyone from the venom itself.
@malumvires If a person has any reaction after a tarantula bite, it isn't directly related to the venom itself but rather a secondary health issue that person has. IE Heart attack would be from the fear and shock of being bitten as appose to the venom causes the heart attack directly.
@malumvires If you did a little bit more of reading and research before posting innaccurate and wrong information here we all would be much much happier. Read a little and stop making things up
1) Dyllan pushes himself the chelicerae of the tarantula on his thumb is this brave mother does not inject venom, you can see on the video that the chelicerae are very few keys.
2) the tarantula grabs without biting the thumb, which is enough to hurt to bleed slightly.
@malumvires 1) I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are saying at all. If you are saying my son forced the tarantula to bit him by forcing the fangs in his thumb you are wildly mistaken. Aurora wasn't actually trying to bite my son but used his fangs as leverage much as a mountain climber uses picks to climb but wasn't really intentionally trying to bite to insert venom. So the amount of venom was minimal.
@malumvires I figured out that you are speaking French :-) Now I can reply to your post. Here is the translation for everyone else.
"If she had really bitten you are already en route for emergencies, you do that you mutilate yourself by pressing your thumb on the chelicerae, this species is not aggressive you would not do this with a tarantula or Brazilian wandering pocilotheria regalis!"
@malumvires An Avicularia bite will not generally send you to the hospital. The venom is mild to say the least. The only reason a Poecilotheria bite would send you to the hospital is for muscle relaxers, pain killers and a place people understand the moaning a groaning of pain. Although a Poeci bite is signaficant, it's not life threatening and there isn't really much a hospital can do for it. I would say it's smart to go just to be watched but really nothing else can be done.
@KawaiiKemonomimi Well, as a matter of fact, I got an incredible deal on my land my house is built on because its an old nuclear testing site. We have a beautiful vegetable garden that gives us 10 lb radishes and 5 ft corn on the cob. They all give off this beautiful yellow glow at night. Why do you ask? lol
@CKelaiditis He actually seems rather calm at this point. lol He had no desire to run once my son opened his hand a bit. He won't be doing that again. Nt so much because I'm worried about the bite but more so because I didn't like the fact that my sweet little boy (Aurora :-) had to feel liike he was trapped.
@kaydyn1512 You love the lil beast don't you xD I don't blame you, I loved my sp Amazonica, I still do, although it's been 5 months since it died after molt :S but oh well, I am still deeply in love with her ^^
@xViCiOuSx702 Yes, that's his thumb.. An A versicolor has a rather mild venom. It would basically swell a bit, sting and itch. My son felt very little of anything so I would suspect that very little venom actually was injected.
If venom was used it would have swelled and felt like a bee or wasp sting wen my dog bites me it's red and itches same with my sling Chilean Rose lol she bit me twice once with venom once without and they were because I disturbed her lol
I would say that if he was just using his fangs for leverage, it was a dry bite, or no venom was injected. But to be honest the way they are spread out makes me think it was an intentional bite. just my .02
@atompkins99 It was deffinately for leverage. He was using them much like a climber would use picks to climb up a rock face. He extended one fang then planted it in his finger then he did the second right after. My son didn't really have any after effect but maybe a bit of redness and a small amount of itching for maybe 5 minutes.
You never want to cup your tarantula to the point where your preventing it from moving. My B.vagans bit me for the same reason. Just let it free and it will let go.
@FireGuyX He is aware if that but being a boy. Once Aurora used his fangs to gain leverage, Dyllan let go but Aurora was content to sit there until he was nudged.
I think that bleeding came from just the fact that he used his fangs to nudge himself out. My mom got some scratches too when she held my big female g.pulchripes. It almost looked like cat scratches but it didnt bleed lol!
@kru0008 Well, I think, because he wasn't biting him to bite, because the fangs weren't sunken in all the way, they slid across his skin which caused scratches rather than holes. Although there was deffinately one hole from a fang. My son was so freaking typical for a boy, he could have sat there and watched it for hours if I let him :-)
@kru0008 Well, there had to be some venom because Dyllan had albeit a slight reaction with itching and localized redness but given that versis just dont have a real potent venom I wonder if that is as bad as it gets? Bite reports never really show a severe reaction with any Avicularia.
That's not a cobalt blue, it's a avicularia versicolor. Too completely different spiders

Abd for the slight arachnophobic person, that can seem a bit scary.
kaydyn1512 3 months ago
@FiestyCat86 Really the 2 I recommend over anything else is either the Avicularia versicolor (arboreal-needs higher humidity and cross ventilation but really, as long as you do that, they are my #1 pick for thier beauty from sling to adult and docile nature) or the Grammostola pulchripes (terrestrial-easier to care for-doesn't require the humidity and the same attention to cross ventilation-again, most are docile and handleable.)
kaydyn1512 3 months ago
@kaydyn1512 So being that I have severe arachnophobia tendencies and catching a small extremely fast spider would pretty freak me out what would you suggest. I would LIKE something pretty (I like the blue ones) but I know she'll be a pet, not an accessory, so more important than that, I'd like a bigger spider with a slow gentle nature. Something that won't freak out while I'm trying not to freak out. I love tarantulas, I think they are amazing but their eats and the way they eat freaks me out.

@FiestyCat86 thats hard
avicularia and brachypelma genus are usually calm, so as the rose hairs
still every T has its own character so even a usually calm species might be aggressive, inform urself about a specific specimen at ur local petstore
they might be able to tell u about this specific specimen
the REALLY blue ones are really agressive, ignoring exceptions, like poecilotheria metallica, but those aint fit for beginners
if u wanna start this hobby ->avic or brachy

how did you force versi to bite?! this spic. is so peacefull... :P
MururoaLBN 4 months ago

Nefelisdiardi 4 months ago
@Nefelisdiardi He is now an old man and retired :( He certainly was NEVER defensive in any way. This wasn't intended as a bite at all. My son isn't allowed to hold Poecis. I actually let him hold a couple of babies quite a while ago but not anymore. Just don't want to take the chance.
kaydyn1512 4 months ago
she doesn't look agressive but that bite does look a bit nasty. I'm glad i've not got biten before ^^ does it hurt? or is it just like accidently cutting yourself on something?
wolfje92 5 months ago
@wolfje92 He isn't agressive at all. The bite wasn't really that bad. Because he was using his fangs just a leverage, one of the fangs cut Dyllan's skin instead of making a hole. He says it really didn't hurt.

i just got a tarantula and im afraid to pick her up. it is a rose hair, and i dont want to be bit. how much does it hurt?
TheGarrrettHB 5 months ago
@TheGarrrettHB im on my second T...first was rose hair, second is a brazilian black. ive never been bit. neither species is known for biting. be sure to put tank on ground and sit down. its unwise to handle Ts standing up, a fall of over 3 or 4 feet could kill your T(internal damage). the hardest part is getting your T out. use a small brush to herd her out and onto your hand..once on your hand you have little to worry about. eventually youll be able to use your fingers to pick her up.
healonator 5 months ago
@TheGarrrettHB i got an adult T to get over my fear of spiders. it worked. they make the greatest pets. dont believe what ppl say, there has NEVER been a documented case of an allergic reaction. no body on planet earth is allergic to Ts, its physically impossible. they lack the protiens that say bees have that cause allergic reactions. now a bite will hurt like a bitch and might mess you up for a bit, but you wont die from an allergic reaction.
healonator 5 months ago
@TheGarrrettHB Well, that all depends honestly. There are different potency's to the venom of different genus of tarantula. Some have very low potency and others (IE Poecilotheria) have high potency. The high the toxicity the more painful, long last effects and more symptoms you will have. A rosea are very low on the toxicity scale but that doesn't make any bite a pleasant one. Fangs are fangs. Just be mindful that anything with teeth can bite at anytime no matter how docile they are thought 2b.
kaydyn1512 5 months ago
@TheGarrrettHB I have two T's, had 4 and all rosies, I have a A. Vic now and before I hold each on I use two letters to get them up first and make sure they are not pissed off. If they flick hair then I leave them be, if not I use the letters to pick em up and then let them move to my hands. I have never been bit but from everything I know it's like a bee sting. If you have bee allergies, do not pic up. GL and hope the best for you
HBr20Mg 5 months ago
I didn't think that some turantulas would use their fangs to climb since their feet are made for that (well most species anyways). I would not like to be bitten even from my docile G. rosea. I never take for granted that an arachnid even the mildest ones will never bite. I know that some people will cup their turantulas but their is a proper way to do it. Yours, in the video, dosen't seem agressive since the tip is not very deep (I don't know how deep fangs can get into flesh when agressive).
PF718 5 months ago
@PF718 she was cuped so she couldnt move and used her teeth to force her way out
oceano901 5 months ago
@PF718 Actually, in my opnion, there is no proper way to cup a tarantula. My son was being a dork quite frankly :-) Aurora is a very docile tarantula and really was just finding an alternative to get out of his "trap" for a lack of a better word. I know you can see it in the video but he didn't actually put both fangs in at the same time. I put one in then tried to plant the other further forward (like a mountain climber would place the picks as he climbed) It was obvious, only to get out.
kaydyn1512 5 months ago
Oh a bite!!Should Be careful the venom from a versi is not that weak as you think i am sure the versi didn't use it.but as Long he has no allergic Reaktion it will Be okay.the fang also has bakteria and thats the Main Thing that can be dangerous!A nice versi by the way.I am sure now He has more respect!Take Care guys
Tisoyspiders 6 months ago
@Tisoyspiders Aurora didn't really inject much of anything because it wasn't really his purpose. He was just trying to get out of a tight spot which was impossible with only his legs. Just an FYI, from what I understand and read, tarantula venom actually lack whatever other insects have that can cause an allergic reaction. :-) Thanks for the reply.
kaydyn1512 5 months ago
It was found that the tarantulas in captivity are often less aggressive and rarely or inject little venom which is due to the fact that they are often force-fed, or too well fed crickets off tarantulas do not need venom to kill cockroaches or crickets and force quality venim weaken.
Worth more to feed them with large prey.
Starve your versicolor and leave the really bite you and I can assure you that you have a very very bad time and you certainly will find emergency
malumvires 7 months ago
@malumvires I understand what you are saying but am not unknowledgeable about tarantulas. I don't share information with people if I haven't gained as much knowledge about what I'm saying as possible. I certainly wouldn't have my son hold something that I felt was going to hurt him in the way you describe. There is no doubt that toxicity of tarantulas vary and the reactions can be severe BUT if I just isolate the Avicularia genus, you are way off on the severity.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
@malumvires What do you consider large prey?
amethyst8teen 7 months ago
Symptoms observed with a bite matutu deemed not yet aggressive.
The venom of Poecilotheria wild often causes paralysis complete or half of the body for several hours or even days, accompanied by coma, tremors, heavy sweating, vomiting and respiratory distress ... After sela depends on the dose of venom injected and the weight of the victim and his health, a person with asthma or heart failure is likely to succumb.
malumvires 7 months ago
@malumvires I have a friend who has been bit 2 times from Poecilotheria. The reaction was severe with pair beyond the thresh hold of many, burning, severe swelling, nausea, muscle cramping, lack of concentration etc etc. Some symptoms lasted for several weeks but the majority were gone within a week.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
@malumvires Very few people have the severe reaction you describe. Why are you fear mongering tarantulas?
amethyst8teen 7 months ago
I saw many people bitten by different tarantulas tarantula decides to bite when really it does with power, it sinks its chelicerae up most of the time without injecting venom for those living in captivity as well fed so it reserve bulky prey.
but when injected venim the flesh begins to swell rapidly and become necrotic and at least one arm or hand is paralyzes several hours depending on the dose injected and sometimes with high fever and heavy sweating.
malumvires 7 months ago
@malumvires I'm sorry but this statement is so inaccurate and gives wrong information to those who are less experienced. For those old world tarantulas that have the more toxic venom, some of these things can happen. Fever, severe swelling, sweating, muscle craps burning and others symptoms can happen for sure. Necroses and paralyses is not within those symptoms. That is reserved for common venomous spider that can actually kill you. Tarantulas have never killed anyone from the venom itself.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
@malumvires If a person has any reaction after a tarantula bite, it isn't directly related to the venom itself but rather a secondary health issue that person has. IE Heart attack would be from the fear and shock of being bitten as appose to the venom causes the heart attack directly.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
@malumvires If you did a little bit more of reading and research before posting innaccurate and wrong information here we all would be much much happier. Read a little and stop making things up
jhunox1 5 months ago
Two possible solutions
1) Dyllan pushes himself the chelicerae of the tarantula on his thumb is this brave mother does not inject venom, you can see on the video that the chelicerae are very few keys.
2) the tarantula grabs without biting the thumb, which is enough to hurt to bleed slightly.
malumvires 7 months ago
@malumvires 1) I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are saying at all. If you are saying my son forced the tarantula to bit him by forcing the fangs in his thumb you are wildly mistaken. Aurora wasn't actually trying to bite my son but used his fangs as leverage much as a mountain climber uses picks to climb but wasn't really intentionally trying to bite to insert venom. So the amount of venom was minimal.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
malumvires 7 months ago
@malumvires I figured out that you are speaking French :-) Now I can reply to your post. Here is the translation for everyone else.
"If she had really bitten you are already en route for emergencies, you do that you mutilate yourself by pressing your thumb on the chelicerae, this species is not aggressive you would not do this with a tarantula or Brazilian wandering pocilotheria regalis!"
kaydyn1512 7 months ago
@malumvires An Avicularia bite will not generally send you to the hospital. The venom is mild to say the least. The only reason a Poecilotheria bite would send you to the hospital is for muscle relaxers, pain killers and a place people understand the moaning a groaning of pain. Although a Poeci bite is signaficant, it's not life threatening and there isn't really much a hospital can do for it. I would say it's smart to go just to be watched but really nothing else can be done.
kaydyn1512 7 months ago

xViCiOuSx702 1 year ago
@xViCiOuSx702 Yes, that's his thumb.. An A versicolor has a rather mild venom. It would basically swell a bit, sting and itch. My son felt very little of anything so I would suspect that very little venom actually was injected.

I would say that if he was just using his fangs for leverage, it was a dry bite, or no venom was injected. But to be honest the way they are spread out makes me think it was an intentional bite. just my .02
atompkins99 1 year ago
@atompkins99 It was deffinately for leverage. He was using them much like a climber would use picks to climb up a rock face. He extended one fang then planted it in his finger then he did the second right after. My son didn't really have any after effect but maybe a bit of redness and a small amount of itching for maybe 5 minutes.

I think that bleeding came from just the fact that he used his fangs to nudge himself out. My mom got some scratches too when she held my big female g.pulchripes. It almost looked like cat scratches but it didnt bleed lol!
kru0008 1 year ago
@kru0008 Well, I think, because he wasn't biting him to bite, because the fangs weren't sunken in all the way, they slid across his skin which caused scratches rather than holes. Although there was deffinately one hole from a fang. My son was so freaking typical for a boy, he could have sat there and watched it for hours if I let him :-)
kaydyn1512 1 year ago
@kaydyn1512 Yeah, I doubt that venom was used at all... My mom didnt only get the scratches from the fangs..Also from the tarsus claws.
kru0008 1 year ago
@kru0008 Well, there had to be some venom because Dyllan had albeit a slight reaction with itching and localized redness but given that versis just dont have a real potent venom I wonder if that is as bad as it gets? Bite reports never really show a severe reaction with any Avicularia.
