  • Does anyone have the tab or chords to this song?

  • I have been listening to Jim for over 20 years and have never heard this. Thank you so very much.

  • @pmcscwacks Yes, that tune is a bit surprising from him for some reason. I wish I knew more about the songs creation beyond Kipling. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  • Wow. I'm just blown away. I keep discovering new stuff from Jim. Absolutely incredible. Anyone know which album/anthology/compilation this is on ? I can't find it !!

  • @cholentyid Thank you for visiting my site and for your comments. Here is a link to the Jim Croce Official website.

If you can find it there you can write them.

  • @cholentyid

  • @candr I found it using torrentz dot eu

  • @cholentyid Yes! It was one of many studio songs that Jim was kicking around. "The Faces I've Been" a double Lp with one side called Jim raps.

  • @cholentyid It was on the "Faces I've Been" album.

  • @janhammer39 Hey, I was astonished to see you'd added a photo of me portraying Jim (2min 37 secs). This was my 15 minutes of fame, playing "Jim" on British national TV back in 1998. That was a great honour for me. Thanks for the memory!!

  • Amazingly damn good song one of my favorite Croce songs!! Never gets old

  • @ImJake50 Agreed. Thanks for the comment and for visiting my site.

  • Though I belted you and flayed you, by the living God that made you, your a better man than I am... Gunga Din.

  • Indeed he did and indeed it is not . Thanks for your comment and for checking out the site.

  • Very good rendition... and he died 30 years old? Life's not fair =(

  • @alexakarpov Yea! Neither is death but we in this age have been fortunate to have audio & video recordings to stop and relive over & over these immortal people that left all with their gifts

  • I remember when I 1st heard this song . It was on the 2 LP record set that came out a few years after he passed this plane of exsitance and I got the set back in 1977 . When I was in the Army Digging a M60 trenchDuring Annual Training at Fort Hunter Leggett in 1983 I started reciting the Poem . My section sgt was near by and after I finshed he asked what was that poem . Great song .

  • @maintech777 Thank you for your comment and for visiting the site. I've always been somewhat amazed how the arrangement and Jim Croces's treatment captures the essence of the Kipling poem. This is the folk in the purest sense. It is a splendid work.

  • I can just picture the credits rolling on some Sergio Leone film- I stole a book of poetry from my sixth grade class because I loved the poems so much and this is one of them. I still have that book from forty years ago.

  • @marcuserektus Thanks for the wonderful comment and for checking out the site.
