That's fine. As I said if you think this old man should "just worry about keeping (my) seat belt fastened and table stowed" why shouldn't this old man who is paying for the ride expect the pilot, who is getting paid for the ride, to keep his seat belt fastened and fly the plane? By the way, in the military, at least when this old man was in, they do not say "over and out" they say "out".
Sleeko, why don't you just worry about keeping your seat belt fastened and tray table stowed old man, and let the pilot worry about getting you to your destination. Your on this plane for 3 hours, they may be on it for up to 16 per the current regulations, not including the pre/post flight B.S. Sometimes, we need to stand and stretch. Got a problem with that? Walk, drive, or fly yourself next time. Over and out.
Relax people, don't make a big buzz about this, remember there a two pilots in cockpit, Cptn and F/o, and two flight guidence systems (autopilot). Pilots in cruising altitude are just there to handle comms and make sure every system works fine. I know, I'm aircraft tech.
(Shouldn't all crew members obey FAA regulations?)...and i bet you're kind of guy that goes 45 mph in a 45mph zone? 2:58 flight i guarantee i'll be in the john at least 3 times for that long of a flight...you obviously havent a clue of what its like to fly planes for a living. By the way, holding your pee is not healthy, d-bag.
adding to what bgamelson said, the Airbus A320 is one of the most technologically advanced aircraft out there, the pilot actually flies the plane for about 1/8th of the flight (unless something goes wrong god forbid) and the rest is done by computer....and like bgamelson said, the co pilot is monitoring everything in the cockpit.....and the doors are closed
You are wrong. The FAA rule states crew member ""can leave his or her assigned duty station if the crew member's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs." I am 72 years old and was able to sit down for the 2 hours and 58 minutes from gate to gate. The pilot is getting paid to fly the plane. He is younger then me and should be able to sit for 2 hours and 58 minutes.
The plane is on autopilot and the First Officer is fully capable of flying the plane all by himself. There are no rules stating the pilot, or co-pilot or navigator can't get up and stretch as long as there is a capable person at the controls.
ok they guy commentating this video has nothing better to do than film a conversation between a captain and attendant. Ever hear of a co-pilot? and even if the co-pilot wasn't there the plane was in A/P at this point and can fly itself very reliably. Sounds like maybe this guy was just nervous about flying and not really sure how safe these planes are even if the pilot wants to stretch his legs for a bit. I also detect a bit of jealousy that maybe the pilot is getting some action not him!
in my cockpit pre 9/11 carrier,it happened the other way around,.
a pax asked if he could see the cockpit and maybe the subsequent landing, the cpt accepted, so the guy was strapped in the jump seat nice and tight, when the flight engineer during short final observed the guy has his dick out and starts wanking....
Ready to knock him out with the crash axe, was not needed...lol,the guy had an orgasm on touchdown, thanked the crew, and was taken back to the mental hospital he had escaped from....
Flight time gate to gate for this flight was only 2hours 58 minutes. Not very long. It seems to me we are forgetting what happen on 9-11-2001. Why do we have the doors to the cockpit re done to stop unauthorized entry? The crews place is in the cockpit. I don't understand why everyone makes excuses. The passengers do their part by going through security. The crew should do their part and stay in the cockpit!
Give 'em a break. They only fly the aircraft on takeoffs and some landings!! Besides that, the first officer is having a blast up there! That's why there are two pilots!
Occasionally when one of my flight crew comes out of the flight deck on a long flight, they ask me not to re-open the flight deck door immediately because they need to stretch their legs. Passengers get the opportunity, flight attendants definitely do (sometimes we just want to sit down!), so why shouldn't the pilots?
@deovalente... Thats a true story, the guy was very calm, when asked "what are you doing there?", he just said "just keep on flying" ,"i am almost there"...lol
Later he explained he had a passion with airplanes....
You don't take breaks when you are working? Pilots should be allowed to stretch their legs. There was a flight attendant in the cockpit when the pilot was using a restroom break. you are just a typical American complaining and characterizing others.
Jesuslovingfreak, Well it's finally nice to get a comment written without hostility.
Sure the Captain could have been briefing the flight attendent. My question to you. Couldn't he have done it by using the phone they have between the cabin and cockpit? What about the passengers and their comfort. Taking out one third of the toilets does make the passengers wait longer in line at the back of the plane. From the comments I get from air line employees,it sounds like the passengers don't count.
Do you know what they were talking about? The captain could have been briefing the flight attendant on safety, changes to the flight or arrival procedure. If that is the case, then it is perfectly justifiable. If you want to talk about breaking rules, then maybe you should put away your video camera. I'm sure you didn't notify them that you were recording them. Sounds like the only law/rule being broken was by you.
@sleeko618 You are not going to like what I have to say.
When you sit your butt down in an aircraft, you are not the boss. You do not call the shots. You do not get to question the captain's decision. A member of the CREW may provide information and opinion to the captain regarding a decision, but the captain makes the decision. If the captain wishes to speak to a member of their crew face to face for 5 minutes, they may do so. If you do not like this fact, feel free not to fly.
You're a bitter guy, you know that, because the pilot isn't in the cockpit you're upset? Is that going to make you late to your destination? Grow the fuck up.
@sleeko618 You're an ass. You dont see anyone coming to you at work telling you how to do your job. I suggest you do the same for them... besides. They're probably making 10x the money you are.
madjmme. They can talk to each other, with out leaving their "assigned duty station" by phone. That is more secure and private then talking in person. For what reason would they have to talk in person? Why shouldn't the crew obey the FAA regulations? You are making excuses. This is an issue of security of the plane and passengers.
I don't work for FAA. Regulations are quite clear. It states crew member ""can leave his or her assigned duty station if the crew member's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs." Shouldn't all crew members obey FAA regulations?
I'll bet this guy went running to the FAA and tried to get the pilot fired. U sneaky little monkey. And I bet u are butter that the flight attendent didn't even look at u. Haa haa !
I know the plane can fly itself, but the FAA regulations are very clear. His place is in the cockpit, and not standing outside having a conversation with the flight attendent. If it is necessary to talk to the flight attendent, use the phone!
I've seen it on United as well. It's not anything that is "unbelievable" or something that should force you to fly for another airline(one that is inferior in my opinion). It's very ignorant of you to think that a Pilot sits in the cockpit and flies the plane the whole flight. The pilots only "fly" the plane for about I'd say about 10-15% of the flight. Planes have Auto Pilot which allow them to fly by themselves on a pre-programmed route. And also, you can't forget that there is a first officer
airplangod, 1 fastmx6,. Can't you people carry on a conversation without calling someone and "idiot" or "moron". Is this the pent up anger you all have against passengers, so in this forum you can release it.
I do fly Delta, in fact I have not flown Jet Blue since this episode. Guess what.? I must have flown fifteen times since this episode, on the same route, and never once have I seen the Delta pilot come out of the cockpit.
I would love to see what Captain Sully has to say about the Captain hanging out in the passenger cabin. Like the Delta pilots, he is a pro. I think I know what is answer would be.
The only restrooms on the plane are in the cabin. Pilots cannot sit in the cockpit for 2 through however many hours the flight segment is without using the restroom. Maybe he was giving up his seat because there was an instructor pilot with a less experienced pilot? You don't know the details. I was in the industry for 13 years and can assure you there is more pilot attention to detail than there has ever been. It seems to me you have no idea what you're talking about.
@sleeko618 Your a moron.. just give it up. Nobody is buying your ridiculous analogies or examples. You simply don;t know what your talking about and just about everybody agrees. Pick a better fight that actually has some real relevance or importance. Sorry your video didn't give you the hero recognition you where looking for.
bitch moan bitch moan. Act like you know so much about aviation! It doesn't matter where the captain is, that airplane is still flying safe on autopilot. Whether he's behind that door or not, he's still not doing anything! Plus, the F/O is right there and is just as qualified to handle any kind of emergency. Was there a huge line for the 2 bathrooms in the back? If not I think you all can manage. If you want more professionalism fly an airline with fees and a stick up their ass like delta
Listen sleeko618... if your so worried and think your so right why don't you take your lil silly video to the FAA and see what they tell you. I'm betting they will get a good chuckle after you leave.
I would like to remind all of you that it has just came out that the Captain of the Air France Jet that fell out of the sky was not in the cabin when the problem with the jet happened.
In this case, maybe if the Air France Captain was in the cockpit, he would have used his years of experience to save the airplane.
The Captain belongs in the cockpit, not out in the cabin bsing with a flight attendent.
How would all you liked being in the cabin of that Air France jet as it fell from the sky?
@sleeko618 DUMBASS, THE AIR FRANCE CAPTAIN WAS ON A SCHEDULED REST. MAYBE HE COULD HAVE SAVED THE AIRPLANE, MAYBE NOT. THE RELIEF CO-PILOT IS CAPTAIN QUALIFIED. STICK TO SOMETHING YOU KNOW ABOUT.
@sleeko618 The Air France issue was mechanical and the pilot was not trained for the incident because it has never happened. Obvioulsy even if he was sitting there it would have been too late. On an overseas flight, there is something called a relief crew which takes over.
@sleeko618 There were 3 pilots on AF447. Common for long haul operations. They rotate and get rest, only 2 fly at one time. The Captain was having his rest break. You make it sound like he was not supposed to be out of the cockpit or was in back playing cards with the passenger. Get your facts straight.
You snitch!!! I bet you told on your siblings growing up and you were probably the hall monitor at school telling on all the kids who weren't in class when the bell rang! SCUMBAG!!!
Sleek all I can say if tell your btch to give you head more often and shut the fck up and mind your own god damn business. There are more than one pilot up there you ignorant fckn tard!!!
coconutlove, TheCullenbranch and highonfsx. Obviously you are airline employees. The hostility you show to the paying passengers is something to behold. You are really tough when you sit in front of your computer screen. In real life you are, well we will not get into that. Seems we have a bunch of Steven Slater's in training.
By the way tough guy The Cullenbranch. Please tell me where I can get a $29 dollar fare.
After all this.....whoever the guy is who posted the video.....if you're so upset by something you clearly know nothing or took the time to learn about, FLY A DIFFERENT FUCKING AIRLINE. jetBlue will not miss your $29 fare you angry little man. You know, I'll bet you're one of the candyasses who beats off in the lavatory! Take your bullshit money and spend it elsewhere. There are a hundred other people to fill your seat. Now go beat your wife, awful jackass.
You don't know if that is the First Officer or the Captain so the title is incorrect along with half of these comments. Regardless, the F.O. or Captain is obviously monitoring things in the cockpit while the other crew member is only 5 fucking feet from the door to the cockpit. This is not a big deal at all. All we do up here is monitor systems in cruise anyway so realize how ignorant you sound before bashing a professional. jetBlue for life!
Emeraldtint. You call yourself an internet badass. Seems to me you have anger issues and maybe should consult with a shrink. I sure hope you are not an airline employee.
@sleeko618 - your literal interpretation of my "internet badass" comment shows just how ignorant you really are.
It's also slightly ironic that you're suggesting I have "anger issues". My facetious comment doesn't hold a candle to your cry baby approach on this video. Just admit - even if only to yourself - that your assumptions about this Pilot and FA are false. There are people posting responses that appear to be far more reputable than yourself regarding airline operations.
Your lack of familiarity with airline operations is amusing; especially since you consider yourself a seasoned traveler.
P.S. You're on an Airbus. Both pilots could be out of the cockpit, drunk, having an orgy with the FA's, and you'd probably still land safely.
P.P.S If I were sitting in 6C - the seat next to you - I'd take that camera and smash it across your face. There are many reasons for this, but the main one being that I'm an internet badass.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey Approach. The passengers pay. You airline employees get paid to provide a service. For a 2 1/2 flight the pilot shouldn't have to stretch his legs. It looks like most of you answering this video are airline employees. It is sad you show such hostility to your paying customers. I have a feeling there are some more Steven Slater's out there. I don't live in Boca.
@sleeko618 It sounds like you need a reason to complain. As long as the legal min. of two crew are up front at all times what is the issue here? Who do you think you are. You pay 150 for a round trip to Florida and you want to complain. Give me a break. The F/O was well within acceptable duty to be in the cabin discussing somthing with the F/A, Perhaps he was breifing the A F/A on a expectation, maybe discussing an issue they anticipate downline. Who are you with no experince or background.
@sleeko618 I agree that 5 minutes is a bit long to tie-up the lav from paying customers. I am a Flight Attendant myself, and have been with the same airline since 1995. Not going to say what airline I work for, but let's just say, we are now the LAREST US-Carrier....Now they were probably just talking, and I would agree that would be a little un-professional, but on the Flip side, the Captin could have been briefing the Flight Attendant on an irrigular situation..Maybe forcasted turblance??
@sleeko618 you want to know what i hate more than rude airline employees? bratty and demanding passengers like you!!! you guys stress out the flight attendants, and they end up taking their frustration out on the rest of us who are trying to be decent passengers. if there's any justice in the world, the next steward who serves you will be steven slater---maybe everyone else has put up with your crap, but he wouldn't, God bless him.
Uh...this is a joke right? I'm laughing at the existence of this video. There are 2 pilots, and yes,no matter the flight time they do need to use the bathroom just like everyone else. Passengers use the bathroom every 5 minutes, usually when the seatbelt sign is on, and they walk up and down the isle to "stretch" on 45 minute flights...and try to use the galleys for yoga studios. The pilots are responsible for getting you back to Boca safely. STFU.
kittykatfudge the flight was only 2 1/2 hours. Not eight hours. To flygirl. If you have to talk to the Captain, can't you go into the cockpit and sit in the jumpseat and talk to him? Is it neccessary to put 1/3 of the planes bathroom capacity out of action so these guys can have their important talk? I got to say I do love those TV's.
@sleeko618 Actually, you're wrong Sleek. There already is a flight attendant in the cockpit. FAA post 9/11 regulations require a flight attendant to switch places with a pilot during flight.THis flight attendant must visually check to ensure it is the pilot entering and must also be the one to open the door so there is always a pilot at the commands at all times. Their talk must have been about the flight or about a passenger or they wouldn't have had it.
omg whats so bad about the captain talking to a fa? i'm cabin crew and believe me this is very normal!! they have to come out to use the toilet and stretch their legs its more unsafe if they develop dvt through sitting in one position for 8 hours!!! people who have no idea about flight safety and dont know what theyre talking about really dont have a place to comment.
I have been flying as a passenger for a long time. My first flight was in a DC-4 out of Idelwild Airport. (Now JFK) With the exception of the Concord, I have flown in almost every airplane flown by major airlines. Forget the regulations. There is no excuse for the Captain to sit outside the cocpit to BS with a flight attendent. If he wants to talk to the flight attendent, he has a phone. I love the TV's, but in my opinion Jet Blue has to instill more proffesionialism in its crews.
@sleeko618 With all due respect, I've been alive long enough to know that JFK was Idlewild before renamed. I have been flying professionally since I was 18 years old. I'm now 44. I've been a pilot since I was 24. You obviously have a sore point with jetBlue. I've also traveled on every major airline all over the world. I worked for 2 others prior to bankruptcy. jetBlue is by far the best, most professional airline. You won't see any different behavior anywhere else and you know it.
@sleeko618 Lastly, I explained the issue with the phone. If you choose to ignore it, that's up to you. If you really feel that jetBlue is unprofessional, they actually are SO "unprofessional" that they put comment cards on every flight as well as welcome any suggestions from customers. BELIEVE ME.....we see these on a daily basis. So, my advice, instead of "waging war" is to put your feelings on paper and get them to a place where they could actually make a difference!
@sleeko618 How do you know they were BSing? It could have been extremley important information about the flight or a passenger. There is no FAA rule or law saying that a pilot cannoot be outside the cockpit. As long as the door remains closed and in the locked position, all rules are being followed.
@sleeko618 You need to get a life... you are obviously trying to make a name for yourself by taping what's going on in the airplane during flight. hoping to find some miniscule event that will make you famous.. you're pretty much an idiot. What's really unbelieveable is that you don't have a clue what they were speaking aboutand you can't spell either.. go away loser...
I presume flygirl4411 is another polite Jet Blue employee who belongs in the Steven Slater catagory. You sure leave a great impression. Maybe you should be more concerned with the safety of the passengerrs, and start obeying the regulations. A question for flygirl4411. Is there a phone that connects the cockpit, ie captain, with the cabin of the aircraft? Could you please point out what regulation prohibits filming inside a commercial airliner. I would like to read it.
@sleeko618 I am NOTHING like Slater. I pride myself on my professionalism and my ability to get your thankless behind out of this big, burning hunk of metal, should the need arise. I'm really NOT trying to be mean. It's just extremely "poor taste" and very stereotypical to conclude what this conversation is about. Yes, I happen to be a lifelong, (24 years) flight attendant as well as a commercial rated pilot. Everytime they come out of the cockpit, there is a definitive reason.
@sleeko618 ALSO....You are absolutely correct. There IS a phone...However, what you don't realize, is that everytime, we push the button to alert the cockpit to pick up the phone, the buzzing is so loud and long, that it drowns out all radio communication. 99% of the time, there are multiple items that a captain or f/o will share with us while out of the cockpit, regarding information we MUST have prior to arrival; it saves them totally missing an ATC call......that isn't the best thing!
Stupid, irrelevant BS. Useless....also, against regs. The idiot that took this seems to think he is some sort of Wannabe Fed./ Pilot, but apparently missed the mark when he filmed video inside of a commercial airliner. Douche!
@awesomemax100 Believe you me, it is when you DON'T see these little huddles, but you know info. is being passed that you may need to bend over and grab your ankles!
@awesomemax100 How do you know he's not giving her information regarding landing? How do you know he's not passing on information that is "crew necessary." It just so happens that I've worked for this carrier almost since day 1. 9 times out of 10, that is EXACTLY what they do when they come out. But, you see, customers don't ALWAYS know everything. That's why we get in these little secret "huddles."
Just remember one thing. Without the passengers you guys have no job. You get paid to provide a service for the passengers. The pilot is paid to fly the plane, not to bs with the flight attendent, causing the paying passengers not to have use of one third of the bathrooms. Steven Slater had the authority to control that obnoxious passenger. Instead he endagered the other passengers and crew. Maybe Jet Blue has to start doing a better job in training its in flight crews.
@sleeko618 Wow......you really are a douche! jetBlue does one of the finest jobs of any carrier at training Pilots and Inflight Crew........(speaking of "Inflight Crew"......are you a "radical" former employee?) Most of the time, we're called flight attendants....but you know that, don't you?
You have way to much time on your hands like the rest of the passengers. The pilots can come out and relax for a couple of mins... YOU ARE THE TYPE OF PASSENGER THAT MADE STEVEN SLATER GO CRAZY !
They get paid to fly the plane, not to BS with the flight attendent. If they want to talk to the flight attendent they have a phone between cockpit and cabin. The flight was less then three hours. On top of that he is blocking the paying passengers from using the bathroom.
I think josecastillonyc below has the right answer.
ok, seriously? they need a break too, i bet you cut off the video once he was going back in...they need a break too, and just so you know th eplane pretty much flies itself, 56 seconds wasted!!
Planes are in autopilot mode most of the flight. It's not like the pilot's are sitting there the whole time pushing buttons or as you say "flying the plane."
Before you post ridiculing videos of good airlines perhaps you should get the facts?
You're an ignorant fool. You have no idea what you're talking about. Never mind what we're doing...worry about yourself. And it's a violation to video crewmembers, idiot. Watch your free TV and get a life.
Dude are YOU a pilot? If not than MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS and watch your direct TV.... They are allowed to come out and stretch their legs and use the bathroom...They are allowed to chat for a moment and there are always 2 people in the flight deck at a time. Another crewmember goes up there... I can not explain further only because it is a security issue...but seriously just don't worry about what we do because your safety is always our number one priority!
@koochy79 Hey Dude I am not a pilot. Although in my Army days I use to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. All us paying passengers want is for you hot shot pilots to follow regulations. If you don't, it then becomes our business. Thanks for keeping us safe.
@sleeko618 follow regulations ??? the Pilots are allowed to leave the flight deck. Surely if your an ex-service guy you must have heard of something called an auto-pilot. Also how do you know the Captain was passing on information regarding the flight. Theres alot goes on during a flight that you Pax don't get to hear or know about.
I think you're be better off just winding ya neck in and not pass comment on things that don't concern you.

@sleeko618 You make me sicker by the minute. Obviously, I have some JB company on here. koochy said it best!!!! Wannabe pilots can visit their local FBO and get Cessna 152 lessons....which is where a jumper is at. You and your regulations and yet you violated the most basic. You AREN'T ALLOWED to film Flight Crewmembers OR the interior of commercial aircaft, you sad little Federal Violator, you! Have you hear NOTHING, since 9/11?
Guys relax, we are allowed to come out of the cockpit if we need to. Frequently on longer trips we'll get up go to the bathroom and stretch our legs for a couple of minutes.
Damn silly guy.. Do you know there is something like an co-pilot??!!
And a pilot doesn't have to fly the plane all the time, it's just better not to do because the autopilot can not need sleep. A human being can, so it's better to fly on the autopilot.
As a pilot one can not stay in a crammed cockpit for 4 or more hours. On long flights we even encourage passenger to get up and move around the aircraft to prevent blood clots and other health risk associated with no body stimuli. This video just shows how this guy is getting all worked up over nothing.
How do you know what the two crew members were talking about? YOU DON'T! Also since you want to be so technical about things, did you get the permission of the flight crew to film their actions on-board the aircraft? If you did not know you are on PRIVATE property. Once you step off the jetway you are on the property of JetBlue Airways and no longer on airport (public) property.
Joey you are wrong. The FAA says the crew "can leave his or her assigned duty station if the crewmember's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs."
They can't leave just because their is "one person in the flight deck"
Rules are rules, and in this time in our history the pilots should obey them.
Pilots are paid to get you from point a, to point b. If he needs a cup of coffee, or to stretch his legs for a minute, or even to *gasp* talk to a fellow crewmember for a minute, those are his needs and as a passenger, you're still alive. You got what you paid for.
And as far as him just "talking", what he was discussing with a crewmember could have been flight-related for all you know. Pilots are humans too, and should be able to stretch their legs without ridicule.
Get over yourself you sanctimonious prick. really. get a life. I am sure you would just love some pussy hiding behind a seat back filming you at work.
I have only answered the e-mails I have received from you guys through U-tube. U-tube sends them to me. Every time I get one I answer it.
If you look at the above record, you will see this issue was over three weeks ago. It arose when you sent your classy "sanctimonious prick" message a week ago. Now jvorus has jumped in and made it go on.
@sleeko618 NO, GEEKO, YOU ARE WRONG! Part of a Pilots physiological needs include food and water and many times, the Pilots like to 'STAY AWAKE' believe it or not, so they ask for coffee and that takes a couple of minutes. You don't know jack, dude. Also, as koochy said, there is NEVER just one person on the flight deck....but the rest is what they call "Priveleged Information" and we're not allowed to share it with Pilot Wannabes or Wannabe Feds! Sorry!
Wow. Time to stop trying to be some kind of hero. As long as one person is in the flight deck, the other can leave. The aisle leading to the flight deck is usually obstructed by a food cart, and even then. The captain can see a person running towards him; he just has to turn around.
And to whoever brought up the Delta incident; that is sooo irrelevant. Trust me. I fly.
You're an idiot. The Cockpit door is closed and secure. Pilots can not be expected to sit in a cramped cockpit for hours on end. You however, can get up whenever you want for most of the flight. Give the guy a break if he wants to stretch his legs for five minutes. Get a life.
@swiftstuff1 I DO, in fact, work for that airline and it really doesn't matter what airline it is. The same security measures are in place. You really have NO idea what you are talking about. As stated above, almost always, when a pilot comes out and has something to say, it involves time en route and any items we may need to be aware of concerning our destination. We may have people aboard with special needs. We may have unaccompanied children. Many things you don't know, so DON'T JUDGE!
After what happened on Christmas Day in Detroit do you still really feel this way? If so then you are naive and that is a big part of our problem with our war against terror. Didn't 9/11 teach you anything? Our lax security is a field day for the terrorists. They extreme but not stupid. Our pilots and airlines cannot afford to be so vulnerable. There are secure cockpit doors for a reason.
@swiftstuff1 dumbshit - the xmas day bomber was trained and activated by a muslim terrorist which your messiah odumbo set free from gtmo - next time vote republican ya useless idiot
@swiftstuff1 egeek10 is RIGHT! You have NO idea what you are talking about, especially as related to commercial aviation. There are so many security measures in place aboard an aircraft, that your head would spin IF they were public knowledge. That is exactly why they aren't. Oh and by the way, if you REALLY think that those cockpit doors are so insecure because a pilot is standing in front of one, I DARE YOU TO TRY TO GET IN. HA HA HA HA That would make for better TV than Slater.
Once the auto-pilot is set and they are above 15000 feet the Captain is able to leave the cockpit and give the F/O the con. Remember, two is better than one and thats why god invented co-pilots. LOL.
They have a phone that connects the cabin to the cockpit. Why not use that?
Why do we wait in lines, take our shoes off for security, while these guys leave themselves open to a breach of security by leaving the cockpit and having a conversation for over ten minutes? Let us not forget 911.
@sleeko618 Something else you very obviously know NOTHING about. You are ranting about things that do NOT exist. Things HAVE changed radically since 9/11. It used to be that we could bump the cockpit door with our elbow and pop it open. Today, you wouldn't get into a cockpit if you could DREAM of a perfect way to do it. AND, every time that door opens, there are multiple unseen security measures in place that you will NEVER know or have access to.
"Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) section 121.543(b) allows a required flight crewmember to leave his or her assigned duty station if the crewmember's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs." The flight attendent must have provided info concerning "operation of the aircraft". If that wasn't the case, she must have been attending to his "physiological needs".
@sleeko618 YOU GOT IT, SLEEKO! Physiological needs, i.e. food; water; ability to relieve oneself so as not to piss all over the valuable cockpit instruments and short out something on the flight deck. As for your obvious "hatred" of pilots, I think you need a lesson in instruments versus "the man." Let's get this guy a nice, hard "auto-landing" and see how he like it compared to that of the actual pilot. You'll never know when it happens but it will...someday....enjoy!
wow so you really think you spend hours and hours flying a plane non stop. if you do your retarded. thats why you have autopilot to fly the plane, and i have a big surprise for you most of the time right after takeoff the autopilot flies the plane after 1000 feet.. so you have no idea what your posting and saying in your video
That's fine. As I said if you think this old man should "just worry about keeping (my) seat belt fastened and table stowed" why shouldn't this old man who is paying for the ride expect the pilot, who is getting paid for the ride, to keep his seat belt fastened and fly the plane? By the way, in the military, at least when this old man was in, they do not say "over and out" they say "out".
sleeko618 2 months ago

By the way, holding your pee is not healthy, d-bag.

adding to what bgamelson said, the Airbus A320 is one of the most technologically advanced aircraft out there, the pilot actually flies the plane for about 1/8th of the flight (unless something goes wrong god forbid) and the rest is done by computer....and like bgamelson said, the co pilot is monitoring everything in the cockpit.....and the doors are closed
gfinn08 4 months ago
You are wrong. The FAA rule states crew member ""can leave his or her assigned duty station if the crew member's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs." I am 72 years old and was able to sit down for the 2 hours and 58 minutes from gate to gate. The pilot is getting paid to fly the plane. He is younger then me and should be able to sit for 2 hours and 58 minutes.
sleeko618 4 months ago
The plane is on autopilot and the First Officer is fully capable of flying the plane all by himself. There are no rules stating the pilot, or co-pilot or navigator can't get up and stretch as long as there is a capable person at the controls.
bgamelson 4 months ago
ok they guy commentating this video has nothing better to do than film a conversation between a captain and attendant. I also detect a bit of jealousy that maybe the pilot is getting some action not him!

a pax asked if he could see the cockpit and maybe the subsequent landing, the cpt accepted, so the guy was strapped in the jump seat nice and tight, when the flight engineer during short final observed the guy has his dick out and starts wanking....

The crew should do their part and stay in the cockpit!
sleeko618 5 months ago
Give 'em a break. They only fly the aircraft on takeoffs and some landings!! Besides that, the first officer is having a blast up there! That's why there are two pilots!
jthor3277 5 months ago
Occasionally when one of my flight crew comes out of the flight deck on a long flight, they ask me not to re-open the flight deck door immediately because they need to stretch their legs. Passengers get the opportunity, flight attendants definitely do (sometimes we just want to sit down!), so why shouldn't the pilots?

Jesuslovingfreak, Well it's finally nice to get a comment written without hostility.
Sure the Captain could have been briefing the flight attendent. My question to you. Couldn't he have done it by using the phone they have between the cabin and cockpit? What about the passengers and their comfort. Taking out one third of the toilets does make the passengers wait longer in line at the back of the plane. From the comments I get from air line employees,it sounds like the passengers don't count.
sleeko618 6 months ago
Do you know what they were talking about? The captain could have been briefing the flight attendant on safety, changes to the flight or arrival procedure. If that is the case, then it is perfectly justifiable. If you want to talk about breaking rules, then maybe you should put away your video camera. I'm sure you didn't notify them that you were recording them. Sounds like the only law/rule being broken was by you.
Jesuslovingfreak 6 months ago
@sleeko618 You are not going to like what I have to say.
When you sit your butt down in an aircraft, you are not the boss. You do not call the shots. You do not get to question the captain's decision. A member of the CREW may provide information and opinion to the captain regarding a decision, but the captain makes the decision. If the captain wishes to speak to a member of their crew face to face for 5 minutes, they may do so. If you do not like this fact, feel free not to fly.

madjmme. They can talk to each other, with out leaving their "assigned duty station" by phone. That is more secure and private then talking in person. For what reason would they have to talk in person? Why shouldn't the crew obey the FAA regulations? You are making excuses. This is an issue of security of the plane and passengers.

I think I know what is answer would be.
sleeko618 8 months ago
The only restrooms on the plane are in the cabin. Pilots cannot sit in the cockpit for 2 through however many hours the flight segment is without using the restroom. Maybe he was giving up his seat because there was an instructor pilot with a less experienced pilot? You don't know the details. I was in the industry for 13 years and can assure you there is more pilot attention to detail than there has ever been. It seems to me you have no idea what you're talking about.

How would all you liked being in the cabin of that Air France jet as it fell from the sky?
sleeko618 9 months ago
@sleeko618 DUMBASS, THE AIR FRANCE CAPTAIN WAS ON A SCHEDULED REST. MAYBE HE COULD HAVE SAVED THE AIRPLANE, MAYBE NOT. THE RELIEF CO-PILOT IS CAPTAIN QUALIFIED. STICK TO SOMETHING YOU KNOW ABOUT.
GMSNMS 7 months ago
@sleeko618 The Air France issue was mechanical and the pilot was not trained for the incident because it has never happened. Obvioulsy even if he was sitting there it would have been too late. On an overseas flight, there is something called a relief crew which takes over.
flyboya320 7 months ago
@sleeko618 There were 3 pilots on AF447. Common for long haul operations. They rotate and get rest, only 2 fly at one time. The Captain was having his rest break.

I don't live in Boca.
sleeko618 1 year ago
@sleeko618 It sounds like you need a reason to complain. As long as the legal min. of two crew are up front at all times what is the issue here? Who do you think you are. You pay 150 for a round trip to Florida and you want to complain. Give me a break. The F/O was well within acceptable duty to be in the cabin discussing somthing with the F/A, Perhaps he was breifing the A F/A on a expectation, maybe discussing an issue they anticipate downline. Who are you with no experince or background.
Learjetjock 1 year ago
@sleeko618 I agree that 5 minutes is a bit long to tie-up the lav from paying customers. I am a Flight Attendant myself, and have been with the same airline since 1995. Not going to say what airline I work for, but let's just say, we are now the LAREST US-Carrier....Now they were probably just talking, and I would agree that would be a little un-professional, but on the Flip side, the Captin could have been briefing the Flight Attendant on an irrigular situation..Maybe forcasted turblance??

@sleeko618 you want to know what i hate more than rude airline employees? bratty and demanding passengers like you!!! you guys stress out the flight attendants, and they end up taking their frustration out on the rest of us who are trying to be decent passengers. if there's any justice in the world, the next steward who serves you will be steven slater---maybe everyone else has put up with your crap, but he wouldn't, God bless him.
cthorste 1 year ago 2
Uh...this is a joke right? I'm laughing at the existence of this video. There are 2 pilots, and yes,no matter the flight time they do need to use the bathroom just like everyone else. Passengers use the bathroom every 5 minutes, usually when the seatbelt sign is on, and they walk up and down the isle to "stretch" on 45 minute flights...and try to use the galleys for yoga studios. The pilots are responsible for getting you back to Boca safely. STFU.
TheApproach727 1 year ago
kittykatfudge the flight was only 2 1/2 hours. Not eight hours. To flygirl. If you have to talk to the Captain, can't you go into the cockpit and sit in the jumpseat and talk to him? Is it neccessary to put 1/3 of the planes bathroom capacity out of action so these guys can have their important talk? I got to say I do love those TV's.
sleeko618 1 year ago
@sleeko618 Actually, you're wrong Sleek. There already is a flight attendant in the cockpit. FAA post 9/11 regulations require a flight attendant to switch places with a pilot during flight.THis flight attendant must visually check to ensure it is the pilot entering and must also be the one to open the door so there is always a pilot at the commands at all times. Their talk must have been about the flight or about a passenger or they wouldn't have had it.
Jesuslovingfreak 1 year ago

I have been flying as a passenger for a long time. My first flight was in a DC-4 out of Idelwild Airport. (Now JFK) With the exception of the Concord, I have flown in almost every airplane flown by major airlines. Forget the regulations. There is no excuse for the Captain to sit outside the cocpit to BS with a flight attendent. If he wants to talk to the flight attendent, he has a phone. I love the TV's, but in my opinion Jet Blue has to instill more proffesionialism in its crews.
sleeko618 1 year ago
@sleeko618 With all due respect, I've been alive long enough to know that JFK was Idlewild before renamed. I have been flying professionally since I was 18 years old. I'm now 44. I've been a pilot since I was 24. You obviously have a sore point with jetBlue. I've also traveled on every major airline all over the world. I worked for 2 others prior to bankruptcy. jetBlue is by far the best, most professional airline. You won't see any different behavior anywhere else and you know it.
flygirl4411 1 year ago
@sleeko618 Lastly, I explained the issue with the phone. If you choose to ignore it, that's up to you. If you really feel that jetBlue is unprofessional, they actually are SO "unprofessional" that they put comment cards on every flight as well as welcome any suggestions from customers. BELIEVE ME.....we see these on a daily basis. So, my advice, instead of "waging war" is to put your feelings on paper and get them to a place where they could actually make a difference!
flygirl4411 1 year ago
@sleeko618 How do you know they were BSing? It could have been extremley important information about the flight or a passenger. There is no FAA rule or law saying that a pilot cannoot be outside the cockpit. As long as the door remains closed and in the locked position, all rules are being followed.
Jesuslovingfreak 1 year ago
@sleeko618 You need to get a life... you are obviously trying to make a name for yourself by taping what's going on in the airplane during flight. hoping to find some miniscule event that will make you famous.. you're pretty much an idiot. I would like to read it.
sleeko618 1 year ago
@sleeko618 I am NOTHING like Slater. I pride myself on my professionalism and my ability to get your thankless behind out of this big, burning hunk of metal, should the need arise. I'm really NOT trying to be mean. It's just extremely "poor taste" and very stereotypical to conclude what this conversation is about. Yes, I happen to be a lifelong, (24 years) flight attendant as well as a commercial rated pilot. Everytime they come out of the cockpit, there is a definitive reason.
flygirl4411 1 year ago
@sleeko618 ALSO....You are absolutely correct. There IS a phone...However, what you don't realize, is that everytime, we push the button to alert the cockpit to pick up the phone, the buzzing is so loud and long, that it drowns out all radio communication. 99% of the time, there are multiple items that a captain or f/o will share with us while out of the cockpit, regarding information we MUST have prior to arrival; it saves them totally missing an ATC call......that isn't the best thing!
flygirl4411 1 year ago
@sleeko618 Again, what regulation? They are not breaking ANY law. There is no law stating that what they are doing is wrong/illegal.

@sleeko618 @sleeko618 follow regulations ??? the Pilots are allowed to leave the flight deck.

Frequently on longer trips we'll get up go to the bathroom and stretch our legs for a couple of minutes.
autopilotIMELd 1 year ago 2
Damn silly guy.. Do you know there is something like an co-pilot??!!
And a pilot doesn't have to fly the plane all the time, it's just better not to do because the autopilot can not need sleep. A human being can, so it's better to fly on the autopilot.
AND THERE IS SOMETHING LIKE A CO-PILOT

I'm sure you landed safely thanks to that pilot and thats all that matters.

As a pilot one can not stay in a crammed cockpit for 4 or more hours. On long flights we even encourage passenger to get up and move around the aircraft to prevent blood clots and other health risk associated with no body stimuli. This video just shows how this guy is getting all worked up over nothing.
jvorus 2 years ago

That is what they are getting paid for!
sleeko618 2 years ago
Pilots are paid to get you from point a, to point b. If he needs a cup of coffee, or to stretch his legs for a minute, or even to *gasp* talk to a fellow crewmember for a minute, those are his needs and as a passenger, you're still alive. You got what you paid for.
And as far as him just "talking", what he was discussing with a crewmember could have been flight-related for all you know. Pilots are humans too, and should be able to stretch their legs without ridicule.

Hey nyc flyer. Your answer sure shows a lot of class.

And your continued harpoing on a non issue is evidence of OCD. Chill, really.

@nycflyer

Sorry!
flygirl4411 1 year ago
Trust me. I fly.
JoeyCappellino 2 years ago
You're an idiot. The Cockpit door is closed and secure. Pilots can not be expected to sit in a cramped cockpit for hours on end. You however, can get up whenever you want for most of the flight. Give the guy a break if he wants to stretch his legs for five minutes. Get a life.
runr55 2 years ago
You are even more ignorant and naive than I thought. The guy was chit chatting, is that really necessary? You must work for that airline.
swiftstuff1 2 years ago
@swiftstuff1 yer not too swift are ya? - you dont know shit about airlines or flying dooshbucket
egeek10 1 year ago
@swiftstuff1 I DO, in fact, work for that airline and it really doesn't matter what airline it is. The same security measures are in place. You really have NO idea what you are talking about. As stated above, almost always, when a pilot comes out and has something to say, it involves time en route and any items we may need to be aware of concerning our destination. We may have people aboard with special needs. We may have unaccompanied children. Many things you don't know, so DON'T JUDGE!
flygirl4411 1 year ago
After what happened on Christmas Day in Detroit do you still really feel this way? If so then you are naive and that is a big part of our problem with our war against terror. Didn't 9/11 teach you anything? Our lax security is a field day for the terrorists. They extreme but not stupid. Our pilots and airlines cannot afford to be so vulnerable. There are secure cockpit doors for a reason.
swiftstuff1 2 years ago
@swiftstuff1 dumbshit - the xmas day bomber was trained and activated by a muslim terrorist which your messiah odumbo set free from gtmo - next time vote republican ya useless idiot
egeek10 1 year ago
@swiftstuff1 egeek10 is RIGHT! You have NO idea what you are talking about, especially as related to commercial aviation. There are so many security measures in place aboard an aircraft, that your head would spin IF they were public knowledge. That is exactly why they aren't. Oh and by the way, if you REALLY think that those cockpit doors are so insecure because a pilot is standing in front of one, I DARE YOU TO TRY TO GET IN. HA HA HA HA That would make for better TV than Slater.
flygirl4411 1 year ago
Once the auto-pilot is set and they are above 15000 feet the Captain is able to leave the cockpit and give the F/O the con. Remember, two is better than one and thats why god invented co-pilots. LOL.
JayPattersonTV 2 years ago
They have a phone that connects the cabin to the cockpit. Why not use that?
Why do we wait in lines, take our shoes off for security, while these guys leave themselves open to a breach of security by leaving the cockpit and having a conversation for over ten minutes? Let us not forget 911.
sleeko618 2 years ago
@sleeko618 seriously dude yer dumb like a shoe
egeek10 1 year ago
@sleeko618 Something else you very obviously know NOTHING about. You are ranting about things that do NOT exist. Things HAVE changed radically since 9/11. It used to be that we could bump the cockpit door with our elbow and pop it open. Today, you wouldn't get into a cockpit if you could DREAM of a perfect way to do it. AND, every time that door opens, there are multiple unseen security measures in place that you will NEVER know or have access to.
flygirl4411 1 year ago
They could have been talking about hings pertaining to the flights arrival and procedures.
jvorus 2 years ago
If you don't know what you are talking about, do not post videos!!! Are you really that ignorant???

"Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) section 121.543(b) allows a required flight crewmember to leave his or her assigned duty station if the crewmember's absence is necessary for the performance of duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft or in connection with physiological needs." The flight attendent must have provided info concerning "operation of the aircraft". If that wasn't the case, she must have been attending to his "physiological needs".
sleeko618 2 years ago
Wow, so you can google... Try actually flying.... Do you know what was being discussed?
AnnaLynnKC 2 years ago
@sleeko618 YOU GOT IT, SLEEKO! Physiological needs, i.e. food; water; ability to relieve oneself so as not to piss all over the valuable cockpit instruments and short out something on the flight deck. As for your obvious "hatred" of pilots, I think you need a lesson in instruments versus "the man." Let's get this guy a nice, hard "auto-landing" and see how he like it compared to that of the actual pilot. You'll never know when it happens but it will...someday....enjoy!
flygirl4411 1 year ago
wow so you really think you spend hours and hours flying a plane non stop. if you do your retarded. thats why you have autopilot to fly the plane, and i have a big surprise for you most of the time right after takeoff the autopilot flies the plane after 1000 feet.. so you have no idea what your posting and saying in your video
