Bottom line. Corporations are for profit. They are not patriotic. If they can ship jobs overseas for cheaper labor, they will and they are!!! I don't understand why this is such a mystery to people. The purpose of tax breaks to corporations is to create jobs and help the economy in America. At least that is what we are told. Obviously we've been lied to. I work in the banking industry in IT. More than half my colleagues are either in India or some part of Asia.

college education doesn't always open doors. I see it like this: college is 50% useful and 50% useless. having a BA especially is mostly useless. you gotta get an MA cause a BA is the equivalent of a high school diploma. BAs are the most useless shit, period. when you get an MA, you have a better chance of finding work.

Love this video and am going through unemployment and cannot get a job no matter what. I am worried and know I will never work again due to call center jobs being eliminated for good. Here in Portland call centers have left the city for good and the only ones left have all said no. My benefits will run out soon and will be on the street for the first time in my life and I have a 4 year college degree and it means nothing. No one here gives a darn. The employment department does not care.!!!

Companies aren't encouraged to hire Americans and pay prevailing wages, so they don't. they go elsewhere, and we watch our jobs hop flights to India and all ports overseas. I work at a big box store and everybody has lost a lot of hours. Sales have not improved AT ALL in the last 3 months. I suspect that the people who usually spend the money on new stuff (ie. college grads in their 20's) don't have any money to spend because of their student loans. Oprah hasn't done the economy any good by telling people to go to college. lol

The free market (or as I see it the free to go one way market) is killing the golden goose for short term gains; our economy is built on a house of cards. Its not working and it is falling apart, wake up people we lost 1.2 million jobs just in 2008 and 16 million since 2000, union and non union. How do you replace those jobs? Please dont tell me high tech; 16 million high tech jobs, I dont see it happening.

The long term viability of all middle class jobs union and non-union are in danger. We as middle class workers need to organize in some way. We need to have some push back for the downward pressure the ultra rich power base is putting on the workers. We need a organize work force so we have some political power to turn back the one sided trade policies. i work in healthcare, there are plenty of jobs but the pay sucks stinks. I mean smn working in healthcare will always have to rent because buying a house is imposible. healthcare company does not cover dental or even medicical at any good rate. SO DONT LOOK FOR A JOB IN HEALTHCARE!!! It is not much better than being unemployed

Maybe she works in billing, or maybe in behavioral health where the patients are ambulatory.

There are thousands of things that a person can do from a wheelchair.

My mother who was a nurse (and by the way a BSN) worked the last 10 years of her career from a wheelchair in an administrative capacity

A health care worker out of work? Ridiculous. What kind of health care could you provide when you can't walk? I am an RN working in San Francisco. You want a job?? GET A NURSING DEGREE! I make a six digit salary working 36 hour/wk. Get and education in a field that has demand, and be willing to relocate if needed and you will have no problem getting a job. It is predicted that in 2104 this nation will be over 1 million nurses short! GO TO SCHOOL!
