  • Great video! I love the M1!

  • that was bad ass. GREAT SHOOTING

  • I can do that all day with my m4 16" barrel

  • except it was the 1936 model m1

  • wats so awesome is my great grandpa used to do this... iron sights. dont beleive me look up the marksmen of world war 2

  • i dont know why some people are complaining. cuz i know that not just anybody can hit a target at 100yards. not even 1000yards. and with a old gun too!

  • That is outfucking standing!!!

  • how can you dislike this? seriously

  • this is the rifle that killed Kennedy :l well one of them :(

  • @nissanlover That was the Carcano rifle, not the M1 Garand.

  • @esh325 thats what Lee Harvey Oswald had but im pretty sure thats not the only rifle sir ;)

  • @nissanlover no its not....Oswald had an italian bolt action rifle

  • Awesome!!!!!!

  • @gandj19 I'm assuming it's off to the side because it looks like it ejects from the top instead of the side

  • You can see the bullets flying in the air ....COOL !!!!!

  • Also Id love to own an M1 Garand.

  • Why is the scope off to the side like that?

  • @gandj19 so you can reload without moving the scope

  • Loving how you can see the rounds as they are headed down range!!!

  • another thing is i have been reading that at about 800 yards or so the 168 gr have trouble with keaholing have you experiened this? i would like to use 168s for my 308 but everyones telling me to use 175s. the reason i dont want to use them is its hard to get them to stay supersonic out to about 1200yds

  • how do you dile enough moa to hit targets that far with those old scopes?

  • beautiful rifle. nice shooting.

  • My 1891 bore slugged at .312 so I used Hornady .312 bullets. It was very accurate.

    Bill

  • what camera you using?

  • In my opinion, im' no expert but, the m1grand is one of the best rifles ever.Must have saved many lives during ww2 against the enemy.

  • @scribefbk General Patton agrees. :)

  • Nice shooting!

  • @runingblackbear My 30-06 760 is a 1967. Pump action. Farthest I even hit, disregarding shot group, was ~530 yards. I thought that was a hard shot. Now let's look at what you are saying. You are saying at open sight *I did it with a scope* somebody put a 1 inch shot group on a 1000 yard target? I call bullshit my friend.

  • Wait, 168 grain? I thought it was not recommended that M1 Garands be loaded ammunition more than 152 grain (or 150).

Well, I could be wrong. Please enlighten me!

  • @mxrida97 Not that loud, just a real destinctive sound. You can only hear it out to about 10 yards outdoors, but everything around you has to be dead silent to hear it.

This mic was probably pointed in the direction of the magazine, and focused on the ping when the clip shot out of the magazine, making it seem alot louder than it'd be if you were actually standing there with your regular ears, sorta like amplifying it.

  • Did the bullet drop at 1:44?

  • @SamPD2 Yeah man... Bullets fall just as fast a brick does.

  • If you can shoot this well with an all-USGI M1D, I really hope you're competing with the NRA or CMP! I hope your son is, too. I remember shooting M1's when I was 12 years old and getting rocked by the recoil, but I had a lot of fun with it! Good shooting and thanks for sharing.

  • @infraULTRArocks Like Learnin how to ride a bike. SHOOTIN THE M! GARAND!!!!

  • How long it is in meters?

  • how do u reload a clip with the scope on top

  • @ifUreadThisyourGayXD the scope on this and all m1 garands are positioned to the left side of the rifle so that the magazine can eject properly.

  • @ifUreadThisyourGayXD If you pause at 0:21 you see that the scope is actually mounted off to the side of the receiver so the rifle can accept the clip. They put a fat leather cheekpiece on the buttstock to offset the shooter's face enough to look through the scope.

  • Nice data. This is how a long range shooting video should be done! Great job!

  • how did u find this gun it so rare and expensive!!!????

  • how did u find this gun it so rare ad expensive!!!????

  • Very nice video. Love the rifle.

  • "..shooting this clip" - no pun intended. :D

    Fantastic shooting, by the way.

  • good shooting SIR

  • are those moly coated??

  • nice nice work. and who is this runningbear idoiot?

  • those are confirmed kills. Alot of hathcocks kills were not confirmed. And if you actually think that mythbusters is the end all of debates youre a moron. everytime I watch that show I get pissed off cause they dont do their homework. Forget all the bullshit. are you actually telling me that a 30-06 wont penetrate a scope with two lenses at 500 yrds?

  • wow! gorgeous rifle! mine ain't as great as yours but I got a piece of history and I'm very happy... nice shooting guys!

  • is there a sweeter sound than the returning "ping" from beyond the 800 yard mark ? :D

  • @jesse324able1 Clearly you are not a weapons expert. In an attempt to educate you, this is also an authentic WWII-Korean war rifle. Check out this same rifle in another video I posted on it, titled, “1,050 yards M1 Garand (Springfield M1D sniper rifle).”

  • @jesse324able1 m1 garand is better than the springfield. with a scope it is even more accurate and deadly

  • @jesse324able1 the springfield is a bolt action most bolt actions are a LOT more acurate then semi ..and this is not a shitty gun .

this is one of the best batttle implements ever devised.

    -General Patton

  • @jesse324able1 Do you have any idea how hard it is to obtain just the original scope for that gun, and the headache to mount it on perfect, and then obtaining an original verified M1 Garand from that time period, now put it all together and you have the complete package as a sniper rifle for that gun.

  • @jesse324able1 More capacity and semi-auto capability at the cost of a little accuracy, overall this weapon is considerably more versatile. It pwnt the Germans in WW2 for a reason, and it started the trend towards automatic rifles.

  • cool

  • GAWD! thats a beautiful rifle! thanks for the vid, its nice to see the old girl has some fight left in here

  • You should do this again with 175 grain bullets. The 168 generally transition to sub-sonic just before 1000 yds.

Really well done video, though. Disregard the tools trying to instruct. If you haven't shot 1000 yards, remain seated.

  • I've heard of people in ww2 taking shots at ranges in excess of 1,000 yards, I found that out in a sniper book I read a while back

  • AZ?

Great shooting, wish i had such opportunity :)

  • Lovin the M1 sound

  • my grandpa said that when he bought the house he found a gun in our closet. he said it looked like a Mosin Nagant but it was different.....

  • i love the vapor trail at 3:13

  • Very nice, I use my 30-06 for 1000. And I use a Mosin Nagant for objects out to 1500. I have a buddy who shoots a .308 [reloaded, T16 Titanium steel type bullet, some crazy specs that he makes when he is bored. This is what happens when you get your PhD at 21 in Astrophysics - you tend to test all the theories on your guns lol.

  • @runingblackbear How about you look it up and post the reference here.

One-inch group, open sights, unaided rest and with an original WWII rifle, yea right.... Considering the current modern bench rest world record with a custom rifle is a 5 shot group at 1.95 inches (Google FCSA event Lee Rasmussen 1000 yard record).

  • @mag30th I can only imagine your reaction when he said open sight shots at 1000 yards... If i was you I would of told him stop playing video games....

  • @runingblackbear

You think a human eye can focus on something that small at 1000 yards? The sight would cover way more than 1 inch at 1000 yards.

  • @runingblackbear

Yea, but only two people could do that. God or Chuck Norris.

  • @runingblackbear Marines... Nuff said

  • @runingblackbear at 1000 yards, a 308 has a minium group of 4 inches, and thats if it was really good percision rifle, locked in a vice, no wind, staple tempiture, basicly conditions you will never see but dream of if you do percision shooting

  • Great video, thanks for posting!

  • In addition the felt recoil is less than the 03A3 because of the gas-operated design. Great video...

  • Very nice shooting! I wish i had a shooting range like that here in Finland... Too much forest here to do that. :D

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I don't suppose you need any advice on shooting. Most impressive, thanks for going through the trouble for us.

  • wow looks like good fun, sigh at uk gun law :/

  • :D i see the bullet airwave :D:D:D:D:D:D:D #Perfect

  • out of your experience, at that distance, wind conditions, etc, would be the bullet drop of a 7mm rem mag?

  • lol

    hit

    to sec later

    ping

  • Good times.

  • damn! you can even see the trail of the bullet!

  • Soldiers used to take shots like this every day using this rifle so this is not actually that special

  • @CHOPERUS23 So in basic training they were firing out to 1000 meters? I highly doubt that. How can you identify the enemy at 1000 meters back then with iron sights?

  • Now thats a shot! Showing all us modern guys how its really done. Great shot. Great Video.

  • Now thats a shot! Showing all us modern guys how its really done. Great shot. Great Video.

  • Nice video. I mean no disrespect when I say this. Your son should position himself behind the weapon not to the side. He might be a good shot I don't know. You can see every time he takes a shot the weapon pushes his right shoulder back and then he loses his sight picture. Get behind the weapon and breath then hold your breath then squeeze the trigger. Don't let the weapon control you, you control the weapon.

  • @Alexrhone2011 Thanks and no problem. I think he was 11 or 12 then, just having fun with it. I want them to enjoy shooting first then work on the basics. He's 15 now and shoots very well. Thanks.

  • @Alexrhone2011 He's got the right idea. that is when shooting prone you want to be angled from the target.

  • whats the scope magnitude?

  • Comment removed

  • i think i see the bullet lol

  • love the swirl!

  • still isnt the longest shot in the world. the longest recorded shot was with a barett .50cal at a little longer than 2 miles

  • @TheGeekwad maybe longest shot but not longest kill

  • Waht abount SVT-40 (СВТ-40) - Снайперская Винтовка Токарёва?

  • if you look closely you can see the bullet break the sound barrier when hes makeing the 1000 yard shots

  • @ruku871 the bullet breaks the sound barrier before it leaves the barrel. After it leaves the barrel it's constantly slowing down, what you could see in theory is the bullet "breaking" the sound barrier as it slows down to subsonic speeds.

  • youre lucky to have all that land :) i have quite a bit of land too, but right by a lake so i cant shoot often

  • SWEET VIDEO! You can see the actual vapor trail of the bullet on the left hand side of the screen. Incredible shooting man! And what kind of ammo were you using? thanks

  • 105 degrees? What kind of scope is that because it must have good glass to see thru that heat.

  • Oh, what a dork I am;( I have mixed up the movie clips. Yours is the pronged-type T37 flash hider too of course.

Anyway, what type of bipod is that?

    Regards

    Alen

  • Hi Mag30th, thank you for sharing that with us. I have just bought me a fully restored M1D this week. Along with a M84 scope and a T37 prong-type suppressor - I guess yours is the M2 cone shaped hider, right?

What type of bipod is that?

    Regards,

    Alen

  • 2:45 amazing sound, nice video

  • in munite 2:54 you can see the bullet upper right of the target.

    this is crazy

  • God i love the sound of the m1's PING . Its a real shame i cant have one here in Aussie land , As i would have one in my gun safe . I do have a very nice 1942 lithgow SMLE mkIII , All matching number's.

  • That's awesome. The M1 garand is an amazing rifle.

  • During World War 2 what was the longest confirmed sniper kill? On the history channel a few of the American snipers said they shot out to 600-700 but they didn't think of taking a 1000 meter shot. That is a good trivia question, what was the longest sniper shot of WW2.

  • @semiautoriflelover Good question, I dont know, hopefully someone posts it here.

  • @mag30th hey mate, do you think that the M24 in .300 can do that? and the

Rem 700P .300 and .308 can also hit at 1000yards?

  • @mag30th The longest confirmed kill in WWII was 1167 yrds in the countryside of Warsaw Poland. Just keep in mind its a hell of a lot harder to hit a moving person and get a kill shot than a stationary metal plate

  • @mag30th I cannot recall the name right now but I know it was a russian sniper that hit a target at around 1,000 yards. This during WWII with limited ammo and rifles. At the time a 1,000 yeard shot was insanely difficult.

  • @semiautoriflelover

In afghanistan in 2002, a Canadian sniper held the record for 2 mile shot with a 50 cal, and within 6 months supposedly a British sniper broke that record with-if you believe such things - a 3 mile shot - I do not know what gun and whats specs.

  • british sniper has the record with 8120 feet or just over a mile and a half. he used a 338 lapua and shot 2 afghan terrorsts or "tourists" as george bush would say.

  • @craveman85 i thought he was canadian

  • @semiautoriflelover not sure about WW2 but vietnam war Carlos hathcock killed 93, one shot right through the enemies scope and took the top of his dome off. they didnt really confirm distances back then mostly cause the longer shots end up in places you would NOT want to go to do so. But Carlos won the wimbleton cup 1000 yrd competition with the same Win. model 70 in 30-06 he killed 93 men with in vienam. im sure some of them were close to a 1000

  • @FloridaSnookHunter

Myth busters did a segment on hathcocks famous Scope shot, and they even pulled the Scope in closer to only 100 yards away... And they never could get the bullet to break all of the glass and go all the way thru the scope even while hitting the scope dead center everytime. At the end of the show they called it Myth BUSTED!

  • @155Millimeter

The Sniper that Myth Busters used to make the shots to bust the myth was Canadian Sniper Rob Furlong.

  • @155Millimeter BULLSHIT. The scope that Carlos hathcock shot through only had a couple lenses in it similar to a modern day red dot rifle scope. the one on mythbusters was OPINION. They were shooting through a scope with modern optics with multiple fat lenses. next.

  • @FloridaSnookHunter

Myth Busters are as legit, as they can possibly be. They wouldn't try to go out of their way to discredit hathcock... Especially since they are a "Highly funded" T.V. Show who has funds to get the exact same Scope model, or easily have it duplicated. Just like the Myth that Hathcock had the most confirmed kills in Vietnam, that was another myth! NOT! See U.S. Army Sniper SSG. Adelbert F. Waldron III with like 109 confirmed kills. Two each Myth's BUSTED!

  • @FloridaSnookHunter

In fact! I just went over to watch that video again, and saw Myth busters didn't do just one segment on the the scope shot! They did two segments, and I did not see the second segment. On the second segment they "FINALLY" got the bullet thru using an modern day armor piercing round! LOL! So now I will go research and see what round hathcock used.

  • @155Millimeter the history channel did a much better documentary on Carlos scope shot.

  • @FloridaSnookHunter NO they did a 'SNiper Scope revisited' with the correct scope. Only with an Armor piercing round at point blank range could they shoot through thte scope to the eye of the shooter.

  • @semiautoriflelover I suppose nobody cared at what distance he did the kill if the nazi officer's head got powned :) ,but i think it was possible to shoot effectivly at targets from about a 1000 meters away

  • @Nadiaang I watched the interview with many WW2 American snipers and they seemed to be amazed at the guys now a days going past 800 meters. They acted like 1000 meters was out of the question. Maybe they had a rule not to go past 800? You would have to be careful to make sure you were aimed at an enemy at that range, with todays scopes and equipment they can see quite a bit better to confirm target.

  • @semiautoriflelover Though most precision rifles are still bolt-action, a considerable progress has been made in rifle design. Most modern precision rifles had free-floated barrels, contact between hangduards/bipod and the barrel places the barrel under strain, and negatively impacts the consistency of pts. of impact. Moreover there was no match ammo back in WWII, so contemporary snipers shot accurized standard rifles fed with ball ammo.

  • @semiautoriflelover Finally the last bad thing about wooden stocks was the fact, that they made the rifle prone to the wandering zero effect (the wooden stock is deformed by heat and humidity variations thus exerting strain on the barrel, and shifting the point of impact).

  • @semiautoriflelover

    how about ammo?

green boxes ammo in WWII can't compare with Lapua

  • @semiautoriflelover well snipers would usually be tactical killers so the closest n most accurate so that thier would be less to no casualties but thats what i kno i bet thier is one but i guess i will have to look into that :P

  • @semiautoriflelover Whaaat? Did you know that in a recorded instance WW1 US marines shot their Springfields with iron sights at around 800-900 yards, accurately?

  • @45calibermedic I wasn't around back then and never heard any stories. I know the Russians lied all the time so they most likely would claim they had a 2000 meter sniper kill.

  • @semiautoriflelover My great grandpa said when he was in the pacific, that a guy got on top of a jeep and made a shot almost a mile.

  • @perkalator104 I doubt it.

  • @semiautoriflelover 1,200 yards by a Russian girl sniper is the longest known so far,A marine sniper in Okinawa kill a Japanese at 1,000 yards

  • @semiautoriflelover Vasiley Zeitzev (sp?) Reportedly took a 1000 yard shot in Stalingrad at a German General and hit him.

  • @semiautoriflelover Matthäus Hetzenauer (December 23, 1924 in Tyrol, Austria - October 3, 2004) was a German sniper in the 3rd Mountain Division on the Eastern Front of the World War II, who was credited with 345 kills. His longest confirmed kill was reported at 1100 metres.

Hetzenauer trained as a sniper from March 27 through July 16, 1944, before being assigned to the 3rd Gebirgsjäger Division, issued both a K98 rifle with 6x scope and a Gewehr 43 rifle with 4x scope.

  • @worpt80 Thanks for the info, I will look up that guy.

  • 105 Degrees, almost no plant life, you must be in Nevada.

  • you are an artist with that rifle!

  • great video, you are the man

  • man check out that vapor trail that is boss

  • Watch it from 1:50 and you can see the bullet from the left hand side!

  • great shooting

  • I hate how people mouth off the .30-06, man it shoots just fine, killed more game than any other cartridge.

  • 2:00 you can see the bullet arcing through the air.

  • wow one of the sniper versions

    are those rare ?

  • 105 degrees very nice for bullit travel. your spotter needs a little work :-) no offence

  • Patton was right when he spoke of the M1 garand

  • i like the sound of the PINNNG

  • well done!

  • 2:08 fav part =)

  • 105 degrees? damn!

  • @iansquared3 It was 108 today, yech... i hate the heat...

  • @mag30th the hotter it is the faster the round goes, less pressure, also there is an old trick that the snipers would use they would lay the bullets on the ground and let the sun heat them up giving them a few hundred feet more.

  • @mag30th where are you? tucson?

  • these things are expensive there is a M1D at my local gun shop for $3500 USD it is sick

  • @maxjr4 CMP

  • @twieneke76 how much are they at the CMP?

  • @maxjr4 Won't let me post a link in here. Shoot me a friend request so I can send you the link. CMP is the civilian marksmanship program.

  • @twieneke76 invited

  • Aim High My Friend

  • Wow dude, this video is great. All of the math and time travel is neat. 1:53 is hilarious.

  • THAT'S AWESOME YOU CAN SEE THE BULLET!!!!!

  • ohh you can see its trail THAT IS CRAZY COOL!!!

  • @ratujr Lol I was just about to say that haha. I love seeing bullet trails. It makes me feel like I'm kinda in the matrix haha.

  • @ratujr i love vapor trails too. TNOUTDOORS9 has an insane video of nothing but vapor trails with his AR-15. it's great! swirl city!

  • this is my first time seeing a garand with a scope... awesome vid sir...

  • Nice trail..great spotter

  • @appleloverr ya you can see the bullet as it streaks through the air

  • awesome footage...love how you could see the bullets flyin! great video!

  • unreal . great shooting my friend

  • great video...great rifle!

  • The visible vapor trail is badass. You can really tell how much the bullets are being lobbed downrange.

  • helluva

  • Hi! Impressive shooting and video! I have just bought a 1954 SA Garand and would love to know how you scoped your rifle. Obviously a side mount (which I would not mind)- is there a commercial mount available? The only one I know of is sold by Brownells and it does not look like there is clearance for loading and ejecting an enbloc clip.

  • if you loók closely you can actually see the bullet in flight. :D so cool. !
