This scene alway makes me so sad - John will know and meet his father throughout his life but can never acknowlege him for his protection. If the machines kill Kyle, John Connor will not exist and the machines will win.
Interesting how in the whole arc of the series John actually encounters his father but only briefly on two occasions due to time travel elements and both times father and son are only about 10 years apart in age from one another. This episode and the last scene of the final episode. And both times the two simply look each other in the eye for a moment yet convey so much between them. And only John knows the full ramifications of both those moments.
Gee, I know. Let's cancel a beautiful show like this one and.......make more cops and robbers or scripted reality shows. This scene brought tears. Fox must have been brain dead to cancel such an awesome show after only 2 seasons. I like TSCC more than the Terminator movies :(

and that line "your mom´s his type" refers that Kyle liked the battling women type and strong and brave but I think in the resistance there were a lot of this kind of woman but not at the size of Sarah Connor (maybe only Kate Connor and maybe...) that makes me think that Kyle was the type of difficult boy for a girl if she wanted to have something more that a battling partner. He had never touched a woman till Sarah Connor. He was a not easy boy

2011 scene was a flashback derek had of judgement day earlier. And in this seen i think kyle is about 5 and derek 11 but the 2011 scene is when kyle is 8 and derek is 14 or 15. hope i helped

im saying that its not gonna happen because T3 happened 2003 and that was when judgment day was going to happen but then they went to the future, 2007 and no bombs fell so what im saying is that the events in T3 will not happen and what we were meant to believe from watching T3 was basically wasting our time when this came out

I believe this series does ignore T3, but we will have to see what happens when T4, 5 & 6 come out to see if sarah connor chronicles gets back onto the true timeline. I did hear that it was just an alternate timeline to the films!
I love this scene, tearing up as I watched this scene. I love the Reese boys all three of them, they are absolutly awesome and dreamy too :P I hope they show more of Kyle in season 2, he is my favorite Reese..:)
I also love Kyle Reese and I like all the actors that portrayed him and will portray him. In case some of you still don't know, Anton Yelchin will play Kyle Reese in the 4th Terminator movie. Michael Biehn will always be the best Kyle Reese though.
My top favorite of the whole season, second is that Cameron eating a pancake. FOX better start producing the second season or else their ratings will drop to hell. Remember Family guy. They cancelled it until it got high ratings on other networks then they brought it back. If FOX doesnt take Terminator SCC, then Sci Fi network should.
This is little Kyle when he was only 5 years old. This is before the war and Judgment Day happened. Kyle didn't die until he was an adult and John sent him back in time to protect himself and Sarah. You can't wipe out Kyle existence unless someone killed him as a child. Which would also kill John, hopefully the Terminators don't figure that out. No Kyle, John never existed. Also no war Kyle doesn't come back, no John so if they WIN John looses. Kinda sad.
I wonder if Sarah (and John also for that matter) - realizes that John will not exist any longer if they win. Or perhaps there is another explanation, but I doubt she would be working to eradicate her own son if she realized.
You know. I didn't need to see Ellison face down the Terminator or Cameron blown up after this. This alone would have been an excellent ending for the season.
What's funny is that when I was watching this on TV, I seriously thought this WAS the end of the episode. I was about to turn off my TV then I looked at the clock and realized there was still 15 minutes left! :p
THANKS, I was really hoping someone would put this scene up soon. I really liked this, Derek was being so sweet and really letting John know that he IS family. This and Cameron dancing from "Demon Hand" are my favorite scenes so far. GREAT SHOW!
I don't know why, but I found it really funny when Derek (almost jokingly) says that John can get an ice cream...and then in the very next shot, they're walking...EATING ICE CREAM! hehe
