    Joe Rules

  • Joe got a lot of mileage with this great song, written by Allen Toussaint under the penname Naomi Neville.

When Joe fronted the Uniques, they hit the singles pop charts with a slow ballad version in 1966. A string section was later dubbed in for the 1970 reissue. Then after Joe split from the Uniques, he established himself in the country field. In 1975 he rerecorded the tune for ABC/Dot with this upbeat country arrangement -- and it became one of Joe's several #1 singles.

  • Have always like Joe's music

  • This is an awesome song. Ive always loved it.

  • The number 1 two-steppin' song of 1976

  • I wanted to play rock and roll as a radio d.j. but instead had to settle for my first job playing country music at KKOK in Lompoc, Calif. in the mid 1970s.

It was then that I fell in love with country music from that period to about the early 80s.

Anyway singers like Joe Stampley, Eddie Rabbitt, Willie Nelson, Loretta, Dolly, George Jones, Merle, and all those from the late 50s through the point I told you about, I loved 'em 'as they touched my soul.
